Nice to see the new wave is approaching. Quite excited for the new Luke and Leia. I'm curious to see if we'll get an updated Han too; I'm sure the new figs will make the old Han look even more outdated. I forget the timeline on which came first, but I think the latest Han I got was the one on the 40th retro cardback; I never got the slight redo with the Power of the Force cardback. I may offload him like I did with the old L&L, but I don't wanna be without a ANH Han for too long.
Picked up Wim at GameStop the other day. Happy to finally have all the kids from Skellie. Just need Jod now and I'll be set.
I don't know if I'm early or late to this particular conversation, but I picked up the Phantom Menace 3-pack the other day (Duel of the Fates 3-pack? - whatever it's called). I'm glad to have it. I've got a lot of nostalgia for Phantom Menace and the final saber duel in particular. And it's no secret that Qui-Gon is one of my favorite Star Wars characters. That being said.... I do wish it were better. Especially for the 105 dollar (Canadian) price tag.
Darth Maul is a near-perfect upgrade to the original figure. Ben and Qui-Gon suffer from Hasbro's complete disinterest in making figures better before they've milked the ever-living shit out of an existing body and made you buy it at least several times. Love the updated face for Qui-Gon, and I actually think all the soft-goods on all the figures are fairly nice. But it's borderline criminal that Hasbro couldn't even be bothered to upgrade the articulation on either Jedi. Not even proper wrist hinges.
And all three figures suffer from not having extra hands. It's especially hard to forgive here because Maul can't pull off that iconic 'igniting both blades for the first time' pose because he doesn't get an open hand, and the Jedi both only have two gripping hands despite not being able to convincingly pull off actual two-handed saber poses besides maybe the 'held directly against their own face' pose.
Nothing surprising here, of course. I knew the Jedi weren't getting new bodies and it's not like I expected there to be hidden extra hands somewhere in the packaging. But it still feels very low-effort and bare bones for the price. Which, again to be fair, is pretty much par for the course with Black Series.
Pretty stoked about Imperial Disguise Luke. Always loved that figure growing up. I used to use it as 'Luke if he became like Darth Vader' -- before I ever knew that Evil-ish Luke was a thing in its own right. I'm not really interested in Leia, but I'm also not upset about it since I never bought that figure in the first place and therefore am not getting stuck with an extra. At least she has the improved face.
@theknightdamien I like the set overall, but the fact that they kept the wishbone hips on young Obi-Wan is criminal. They absolutely have different hips they could've swapped on there.
I got the Yoda and Gree two pack today from Pulse. I love this set. I am way to happy about this Yoda Jedi Council chair. But I always have loved the Episode I 3.75" Figure of Yoda with council chair from The Episode I Movie line.
I also love the 2 head sculpts for Yoda. Excellent set, and one of my Favorite Black Series items this year.
To jump in on the Dual of Fates 3 Pack, I think that is my favorite Black Series item this year. I love that 3 pack. Episode I is my favorite Star Wars movie, and my love and nostalgia for that film, along with the 3 great figures in that 3 pack make it as I said, probably my favorite Black series piece of 2024.
Which is crazy seeing how I already had Qui Gon and Obi Wan, as well as the new single release of Maul without robes. But, it's Episode I related, they all came with robes, and it's 3 of my favorite characters in Star Wars history. So, yeah.....I love that 3 pack.
I'd say my 5 Favorite items from 2024 would be
1.) Dual of Fates 3 Pack
2.) Yoda/Gree 2 Pack
3.) Werewolf Pirate Cpt. Brutus
4.) EPIII Darth Sidious
5.) Ki Adi Mundi
Love the new Yoda. He's delightful. I don't recall - have we EVER gotten this era Yoda in Black Series? He's fantastic.
Gree is solid too, though it looks like his helmet could come off but won't. Always wish they would give officers the option to be unhelmeted though I don't remember ever SEEING Gree without his helmet anyway.
Oh he goes without a helmet in Revenge of the Sith, his head just happens to be inside at the time ...

Oh damn
Just noticed those cool backpacks from the Skeleton crew figures. they have dedicated holes and you can add flashlight accessories to them, yup, gonna need that. Ill just sell the figs.
Yoda and Gree two-pack is excellent. This Yoda is super nice. Love both head sculpts and the articulation. Nicest Yoda to date. And Gree is using the newer body, so he’s great. Hope to get his fully camouflaged armor sometime.

Yeah, I feel like if this was a 3 pack of any set of random figures, two of which were six or seven years old, or whatever, I wouldn't feel as positively towards it as I do. In fact, I'd probably shit all over it for being lazy and cheap. Which it KIND OF is, if I'm being honest. But this scene, and these characters, mean a lot to me. The cloth robes are pretty good. The faces are great. It does enough right to, with the help of that nostalgia, survive the stuff it isn't doing right.
But damn.. for re-using two old bodies (and considering this new Maul has already been released twice), I really wish they'd at least gone in on a couple of different hands. Fuck sake, we already HAVE another hand for Qui-Gon they didn't bother to put in the box, and that one kind of hurts.
I think I want that Yoda set just for a decent TPM Yoda. Like you, I'm fond of that 3.75 figure with the chair, so this set hits those vibes just right even if it's not technically TPM-branded.
So, those of us who ordered figures from the next Wave of Star Wars Black Series from Hasbro Pulse, recently got e-mails saying the figures from that Wave would ship on January 7th.
This is the Wave with ANH Leia and Luke, Dagan Gera, Vernestra Rwoh, and Bazil.
Well, today I got an e-mail from Pulse saying Leia would ship December 30th, 2025, lol. So, an entire year from now.
I know this is just a mistake, but it was funny to me. First, the estimated time was February 1st. Then, it got moved up to January 7th. But now, it's been pushed back an entire year.
Anyone else get one of these e-mails for Leia, or maybe even someone else from this Wave?
Hopefully, this Wave does still ship in the next couple of weeks.
Was able to pick up Jod from Skeleton Crew and finish the wave this last week with my visit home for the holidays. It's always such a stark contast going from NY to the Midwest (well, from NY to anywhere, really), as there's way more selection. Almost every Wal-Mart I went to had the entire wave, compared to the cherry-picking I have to do here, where I can spend weeks looking for one or two new figures, and half the time they're locked behind glass. I felt spoiled!
Amazon has the next wave as arriving January 16th for Bazil and Vernestra, and the 21st for the rest. I actually mostly behaved myself over the holidays with figures, so I say bring them on!
I got the first Acolyte wave of 6 figures for $100 just now on Amazon. Between discounts and coupons some were like $6.
I paid like $11 each or something nice for the twins from Amazon. If Indara was on sale I would've nabbed her in a heartbeat.
Can’t wait for Luke and Leia. Luke is gonna ride in my Landspeeder and Leia be sassy towards Vader and Tarkin. Should be in few weeks.
Thwipp!
