If Hasbro isn’t going to make a holiday Grogu, then I’ll just do it myself.
Easy little custom. Bought an extra BS Grogu, took him apart, dyed the suit red and painted the trim. Surprised we never saw this as an official holiday figure.
"Preorders open tomorrow (Dec. 11) at 1pm ET for Pulse Premium members and for everyone else at 2pm ET. Both sets will be available through DisneyStore at a later date."
Body looks a little too big for Luke. Not really my most wanted from SotE to be honest.
@ru1977 It's funny because I just sold my old 90's SotE Luke last week. I kind of do want a 6" one, but I really don't need that Leia and with as prevalent as she is already in previous releases I can't see how you'd sell just her out of the pack. So the question is do I pay close to $50 for just that new trooper (because let's be honest, I'm not having it on display to be Luke)?
I want to believe he'll get a single card later but that seems risky.
Yep, gonna be even more Boushh on ebay soon.
@ru1977 It's a weird choice for a 2-pack. Like, why make more of those? There has to be another option out there for a pack-in that would be a better seller.
@jakeekiss I'm sure. It would have been nice to be another army builder. Hell, do Lando on the same body! It would sell out for all the people that wanna have several helmeted guards.
@ru1977 Right? I almost wonder, maybe this is like the recent dude from the Jedi games (sorry, don't play them, the guy with the force arm) or some others I can think of where the two-pack is a ploy before a single card release that everyone would prefer to buy.
Like, maybe they do plan to just release him as a standalone and this is a way to pad the budget?
@jakeekiss Makes the most sense to me really. It's gotta be something beyond just getting a kick out of getting consumers to buy things they don't want.
@ru1977 Y'know what I hope? I hope they do a 6" version of the swoop bike and rider from Shadows of the Empire. I loved that guy. Just a random mercenary goon.
Seems unlikely as it would probably be too much new tooling and it feels like Star Wars vehicles don't sell super well... but I can dream.
@jakeekiss And honestly, that helmet was pretty cool. I think it was based off some McQuarrie art, probably when they were sketching for Boba Fett, but still neat.
And the Swoop set would be a nice piece of nostalgia for some of us anyway. I know they had comics and such along the way, but SOTE felt so monumental at the time because it was a big, multimedia push of new stuff. I'm sure for people who don't remember the time, it seems like nothing since we've had so many movies and shows since then, but it was firmly at a period where I'd given up on any new Star Wars. So figures? For this? And new characters? Even a nameless bike guy? It was like a whole line of mini rigs, and I loved mini rigs.
@ru1977 Yeh, totally based on that art. Based on the same helmet they gave to Obi Wan for a bit when he's undercover in Clone Wars TV as I recall. And yeah I remember when all that came out pre prequels, pre even the rereleases I think. And it was such a comprehensive push with new and interesting stuff. I even bought the soundtrack at the time. Maybe we'll get lucky and sales on the other Shadows stuff will be high enough to warrant the Swoop. I still wonder how some of the game stuff from earlier hasn't made it out. Kyle Katarn anyone?
Definitely getting that 2 Pack. I love SotE, so I gotta have this pack. Even though I don't need another Leia in Boushh disguise.
I'm still so excited we're getting Prince Xizor and Dash Rendar. So, I have to have that Luke to go with them.
I never got into Shadows of the Empire, so I have no real attachment to this set, or at least this version of Luke and Leia (which is good, because attachment is forbidden). These days, eventual single releases of previously 2-packed figures are safe bets, so if I ever find myself in need of that Luke, I'll snag him then (but would probably keep his helmet on so as to make a generic trooper, like I did with Mimban Han). Unfamiliarity aside, though, methinks I'll still pick up Xizor and Dash whenever they come out.
