Got Captain Brutus yesterday. I was hoping he'd be a bit bigger. Also, his skins a bit darker than I expected, so the entire figure is pretty dark. Makes him hard to pop with a bunch of figures around him. Great sculpting, but not a contender for top 10 of the year.
Yoda/Clone is up at DisneyStore. Hate paying full price for a set of 1.5, but as someone else said - I really want this chair, so I'm a sucker.
I want the Yoda but I don't wanna pay that for it. Disney store charges alot for shipping or upcharges or something don't they? So I'll wait for Yoda single release. While I love getting clones, Gree doesn't have a helmetless head. That coulda sold me. As is, I'm fine with the old one.
I got free shipping and only bought the Yoda/Gree 2 Pack...
Yeah there was some kind of promotion for free shipping that my order qualified for. Is this a preorder or are they in stock?
I got Brutus the space pirate werewolf too. Really cool figure. It's the kind of character and design that just reminds you of what makes Star Wars so much fun.
Snagged the Yoda/Gree pack yesterday. I always forget about the free shipping coupon. Oh well. Was quite worried about getting him yesterday, but as of now he's still up for order, so I guess the joke's on me. Might still try and offload Gree, but I'm happy to have Yoda.
Finally got around to opening the Jedi Survivor Droid 3 pack. Had been sitting for ages waiting for me to open it. I quite like it- the colors are really nice, and I didn't even notice that the SBD had a different arm. Adds some nice variety. Also, I don't know if they did anything to change/solidify the regular Battle Droid more, but this is the first regular BD that I can actually get to stand, even when holding its weapon. That was a nice surprise!
Wonder if Pulse will get their stock of the two-pack early since the Disney Store was selling it. IIRC it got pushed back from Pulse to December. I'm not in a rush so I didn't do the Disney Store shuffle but I won't be unhappy to have a new Yoda. Always liked Gree's color pattern, too, and I don't have him in Black Series already.
Got Brutus and Jude Law (I'm going to struggle with his character name, I swear). Brutus is a lot of fun. Both of them make me want more flintlock Star Wars blasters. Decent likeness of Jude, too - a little soft but not bad. I always feel like SWBS figures, at least since they changed to single-jointed knees, are a little... stumpy-legged? They both feel a lil stumpy legged to me. Not enough that I regret buying them, but just thought they'd be longer of limb.
So curious what Brutus actually is in the show. It'll be hilarious if he's a throwaway character.
Got shipping confirmation for the Yoda 2 pack from ShopDisney. Has it still not shipped from Pulse?
I'm kind of expecting Brutus to be a nothing character. Maybe a couple little feature scenes at best, maybe a few lines, but nothing major. I'd love to be proven wrong, though. Maybe he ends up being the main henchman or something. The great thing about Star Wars is that even the background characters are fun and memorable and figure worthy. Most don't have much, if any, characterization, but whether they do or not, you can kinda project your own stories onto them. Are you really a Star Wars fan if you don't have a favorite obscure background character?
Yakface has a picture of a headless Kelnacca figure, so that's apparently still coming.
The Yoda and Gree pack has not shipped from Pulse yet. It still says December 15 as the ETA for that set. Since you guys are getting it from Shop Disney, I have to imagine it ships from Pulse before December 15th.
Got Brutus yesterday at GameStop. Was gonna wait on all the Skeleton Crew figures, but they had about half the wave including him, and I know he seems to be the popular pick right now. Had my monthly $5 coupon, so got him for $20.
He's a fun figure! Don't know if I realized he had so many guns. I always love a good bandolier on a figure- a quick, easy way to make them feel like they're packed with accessories (plus it just looks cool). He's a really fun figure all-in-all. Some great sculpting, lots of layers, some nice washes. He feels a little more "deluxe" than just a normal figure, but I'm glad they kept him at regular cost!
It's fun having a new alien character in figure form before the show/movie. Feels like it's been a long time since that's happened; that was one of my favorite parts of collecting as a kid- getting the alien characters before the movies and wondering what part they'd play. There was a lot of fun to be had in the mystery and possibility of it all. I get why Hasbro doesn't take as many risks nowadays, and it really only worked out because the show was delayed, but still. Gotta enjoy this little window of mystery while it lasts!
Got Yoda and Gree from ShopDisney. Arrived a lot sooner than I expected. It's a fun set- Yoda is surprisingly articulated for his size- the open robes definitely help his mobility. He looks really nice, and is much more size accurate. This one skews much closer to the Yoda/Luke 2 pack from a few years back; it may actually be mostly the same- I haven't opened the robes of the old figure to see how the articulation compares, and the feet and head are different, but other than that, they seem roughly the same size/shape. The swappable head is a nice addition- looks really nice with the lightsaber, but since I have a feeling we'll get a single carded Yoda in the future, this one is staying nice and stoic on his chair. Like Landspeeder Luke said in his review, the easiest way I've found to get him to sit flush on the chair is to turn his legs to one side and use his arms to hold down the robe over them. Otherwise, because his feet are splayed, he sits up a bit.
Gree is nice. Always welcome to see the new Clone body in use; if you own one, you know how this one goes- nice and poseable. It was such an odd decision to paint the head under the helmet but not make the helmet removable. Haven't tried prying off the helmet to see if it's fully painted or just a full skin color all around. Maybe if they'd sculpted his unique hairstyle from the show, I'd feel more inclined to keep him. I do like the color- the dark green is really nice, even if it's not my preferred Gree look. May keep him on the shelf for a little bit just for a little variety, but he may be one of the first to go on my next purge.
