I'm guessing Osha is the TBD character in the first wave of Acolyte figures. Kelnacca will probably be deluxe and they can make two versions of him. Nude and Jedi robes.
I'm sure you're right about Osha. (Thanks for that name, LFL..now my phone is always going to fight me to make it all caps.) I guess you can see some of her on the side mural of one of the other figures.
Also brilliant about nude Kelnacca. Of course that reminds me of the studio notes about Chewbacca, "the wookiee has no pants!"
Apparently nudity is only acceptable in a few Star Wars species. Wookies, Ewoks and Hutts. So with enough body hair or blubber, it’s okay to be nude in Star Wars. Seems only fair that if one species can get away that, all races should be able to get away it. Wouldn’t that bring a whole new twist to Star Wars? Rebels fighting for their right to be nudists.

@ru1977 I know we're waaaaay off topic for this thread but since you mentioned your dog, just a fair warning if you do look to move there - look into the laws and requirements around pets. Moving my cat (who was the love of my life, TBH, Mary always joked I'd choose the cat over a human in a fire) was a LOT. In the words of my sort of father-in-law, "Ireland's never had rabies and we're not about to start now" so they've got lengthy, if rational, quarantine times and such. It can be rough on energetic/affectionate pets.
No sarcasm, but thank you for bringing that up. Fantastic point that never occurred to me. Never moved to another country so yeah. My dog is all over me just coming home from a regular day at work, so I can't imagine a prolonged quarantine like that.
Also, I don't fault you for saving the cat first if need be. Humans can listen to instructions, cats tend to do the opposite.
@detectivehoag It's... I dunno if it's a good point, but certainly a point, that nudity shouldn't be restricted to the furred or the blubbered. All body types can be accepted or even celebrated. I certainly appreciated when Boba Fett showed up with a shape more like my own...
The Star Wars stance on public nudity is kind objectively hilarious. I remember even as a kid thinking so: Ewoks and the hoods. Like--pants no, hats yes? I don't understand.
(Jabba is just an exhibitionist.)
@ru1977 Glad I mentioned it. I had an easier time moving my entire life overseas (back in 2009, before remote work was common) than I did moving my cat. And I'm equally a dog/cat person, but I always joke that my dog is my Chewbacca, my best bro (my current partner actually vetoed naming our dog Chewie!), but there is always a cat in my life that is basically my daemon from His Dark Materials. A percentage of my soul inhabits a cat at all times. My biggest worry about moving countries (which I look into every few years for work) is 90% pet transport, 10% action figure storage. Everything else is just a problem to be solved.
Also, great point about Boba being built like a human. I do appreciate that Star Wars (aside from a certain middle management Jedi in the Acolyte who is cut like a Zach Snyder character) Star Wars has never really pressured its actors to be in insane physical condition. Made me so mad when they called Tem "Boba Fat" because I mean... dude's built like a smallish rugby player. I'm basically the same size and shape as Morrison IRL (ran into him when I was tabling at a comic con and was blown away cos I always assumed he was like nine feet tall). Loved seeing him look human, and mortal, in the new shows.
I guess Moroff was technically running around naked as well. I wasn’t genuinely advocating for nudity in Star Wars, just in case that wasn’t clear. I was being absurdist to poke fun at peculiarity of it. Who’s going to make a Wookie wear clothes if they don’t want to? Even the Wookie delegation in the Galactic Senate were buck naked. The very thought of designing a garment for a Hutt seems absurd and impractical. It all just struck me as an amusing point is all.

I'm a few weeks late on watching Tales from the Empire, but I gotta believe there's a few figures worth making in here, or generate a bit more interest for some of the Inquisitors and such. I'm always mystified by how the animated shows can take minor characters and turn them into something truly special with the extra time they give them. (I liked Morgan in Ahsoka but I'm actually really happy to have her figure already watching the anthology, for example.)
I got Ki Adi Mundi today. He is pretty fuckin good ngl. I mean, I still don't like the single knees, but he wouldn't really benefit from double anyway most likely. Double elbows would also be cool. But Hasbro are double joint racists. And the only other minor gripe I have is the wrists. They're not bad. They're just different. Some saber poses are harder with these ones. Some are easier. But they look good, with the way his outfit is. And I'm gonna guess thats why they did it that way. But my gods, the sculpt, the paint, the look, the outfit. He is a standout no doubt. He's also fairly hefty. Kinda heavy, not in a bad way. I gave him a purple blade for his saber cause of his saber color from the TMP figure. Looks so much better then the all encompassing blue. Blues my fave color. But almost every saber I have is blue. Where my cool colors at? So Plo Koon has yellow, and Ki Adi has purple.
@trunks3540 It's so weird, I was CONVINCED he came with a yellow blade when TPM first came out but now I wish they gave him purple here.
(Now I have head canon of Mace Windu and Ki-Adi-Mundi entering a battle some time before they were councilors, Mace lights up his purple BMF saber then Ki-Adi lights up a purple saber too and they just look at each other awkwardly like they showed up at a wedding wearing the same outfit.)
I wish they would've kept TPM colors for all the lightsabers. There was alot more variety. Tiin had purple too. Adi Galia was crimson. Plo Koon had yellow, the role play looked orange though. Mace was blue, but I would've been ok with his change to purple. I just think variety would've been nice since other colors do exist. Everyone having green or blue is kinda basic. In universe explanation should help my argument, since not everyone is the exact same. There are nuances to people. Not just "well you're green, or blue." I prefer the Old Republic way of how saber colors were determined.
Finally got shipment on my Ki-Adi! Can't wait to finally have him in (if only so I can shut up about it 🤣 )
I do really like Plo Koon's yellow saber that he had in the Jedi Power Battles game, and the Power of the Jedi figure came with. Like others have said, it really helps break up the endless sea of blue and green. I believe there's an in-universe explanation for his switch from yellow to blue (assuming it's still canon, of course). Yellow was always the "sentinel" color- the one with a balance of combat and scholarly pursuit, and Plo always seemed to fit that for me- the wise warrior who used combat as a backup, but was very focused and calm when he had to. Nothing wrong with the blue- it fits him too, but I love the yellow. Still want to get a custom blade for him somewhere.

Hm.... now I am picturing Hutts with hats.

That sounds fair. Genuinely, as a pet person, I absolutely get that. I've trekked across country with at least one cat several times for moves.

Right, I think a lot of people don't realize how crazy thin Jeremy Bulloch was. One scene in ESB was filmed with a different actor in the Fett suit for some reason, who was the same guy who played 4-LOM, who is builts like 3PO is that gives any indication. So yeah, anyone with any bulk (healthy or otherwise) is gonna look 'big' in that suit when you're used to Bulloch. When he showed up on Mandalorian and suited up, my wife (who has never been against my costuming, but never super supportive either) turned to me and said, "You should do that version."
@detectivehoag Heh, I think I knew it was in jest. Little things like that are fun to point out the absurdity of though.
@docsilence I believe Plo's first figure was in the POTJ line? And did come with a yellow saber, and a REALLY cool hilt that I don't think was ever used/shown anywhere else. They had a picture of it on the little foldout insert that came with the figure but it was never in the movies that I know of. Way cooler than what he had in AOTC, in my opinion.
@ru1977 Now I'm working on a "Hutts in Hats" fake marketing logo.
I do miss the Old Republic style ideas about colors of sabers, but I also kinda would love if it was purely aesthetic. Mace invents a new fighting style, decides he really likes purple as his signature blade. Obi-Wan finds blue calming. Yoda has a green blade because it matches his fit. Maybe there's a Jedi from a particularly sunny world who carries a yellow blade as the one remembrance of home before the Jedi.
Then that one guy shows up at the Jedi company all-hands with a red saber and everyone just stares at him suspiciously.
@joshsquash729 I have some yellow acrylic rods I use, but I don't remember where I got those and you have to trim and shape them yourself. I do have an etsy seller though that makes blades saved, and they are pretty good quality wise. They will break without care, but they look better then some stock blades.

The different blades just basically have different pegs that go into the hilts, depending on which one you buy.
