Well, the blaster isn't pink so they're making progress!

I was so looking forward to Barbalorian!

The blaster's not pink, y'all!

What an absolutely awesome looking figure. All of the following photos are from Isaac Wong on Facebook and hotkenobi on Youtube. Mine is literally out for delivery while I'm stuck at work.

First, the very few negatives: it seems like the waist/ab articulation is almost non-existent. Aaaaand, I think that's it. Personally, I think the newest S.H. Figuarts Grogu from Mando Season 3 with the articulated ears is superior in every way to this Grogu, but that's down to personal preference. I would also say that aesthetically, his crotch/leg area doesn't look the best in a neutral standing pose and the new S.H. Figuarts actually has much better weathering on the flight suit. The Mafex looks basically pristine and clean everywhere.

Otherwise, I think this thing is a triumph. The helmet looks great, the accessories are plentiful and so well executed (seriously, look at the details on the darksaber and hilt--how has no one else gotten it right until now?). They even solved the rifle holster situation---by giving you an entire second rifle JUST meant for holstering. It's super easy to do now.

But I'd be remiss if I didn't draw special praise to the Din/Pedro headsculpt. What a little marvel. I like it better than the Hot Toys one I have!

Ultimately, the newest Black Series is SO damn good for $25, basically just missing a couple of easily fixable paint apps. But the sheer bevy of accessories ESPECIALLY the unhelmeted head make this THE definitive Din Djarin....for now.

Now maybe I can find someone to weather him up for me...428292891-945393483614839-4404370785186815549-n

It looks amazing, but the real comparison is not against the 1.0 or the SHF but the latest black series.

100% agree. Having the Black Series already, I can say that it is indeed amazing especially for the value. For 99% of fans of the character, I say just get the Black Series. But for the most hardcore fans, this Mafex is now the pinnacle. Or it seems so, at least. I'll have it in my hands soon!

I’ve been able to mess with Din a bit, and I have mixed feelings. Generally, though, I feel very positive.

Aesthetics wise, he’s a 9/10. His crotch/thigh area is still odd looking to me and he could definitely use some dirtying up. Otherwise he looks fantastic in just about any pose. I would give the Pedro head a 12/10 if I could.

Accessories wise, a solid 8/10. I wish he had a removable thermal detonator like the season 2 Figuarts and a pram for Grogu like the season 3 Figuarts. And I wish his darksaber could be holstered on his belt like the Figuarts and Black Series. Some of those technically wouldn’t make sense as this is strictly a season 2 Mando, but oh well. And I have to note that the only QC issue I’ve had is a fair amount of black paint missing on the unignited darksaber hilt. I was able to mostly fix that with a black Gundam marker though.

Another point is deducted because I just don’t think it’s possible to holster the rifle as intended by threading the buckle thing through the little cut in the cape. Maybe I’m just ham handed though. I’d love to see someone achieve it. Another issue is that while there’s a built in spot to store the Beskar spear on the jetpack, it seems so narrow that I was terrified to try it for fear of snapping the spear in two.

Articulation is where he really takes a hit not being able to do much of anything with his entire abdomen area, and elbows and knees that hit only 90 degrees at best. As far as I could see, there’s no real way to do a good “down the sights” pose with him. I’d rate this a 6 or 7 out of 10, sadly.

I will say I like Grogu a lot more in person than I expected, though I still think the season 3 Figuarts Grogu is still the closest to the actual character’s appearance. But the Mafex one is very very cute.

Overall, I’d give him an 8.7/10. He’s good, but he has a lot of the things that let imports down. He doesn’t feel fragile or fiddly overall, but despite looking gorgeous, he’s not nearly as fun to just play with as the Black Series Din.

These are my pictures with the Black Series on the left, newest season 3 S.H. Figuarts in the center, and Mafex on the right.

Looks like Book of Boba Fett and that variant DKR Joker are about to ship.

The Temuera Morrison head sculpt looks absolutely spot on, not sure I've seen better to date in the scale.

A few weeks ago Medicom posted that Bo Katan releases this month.  Ahsoka is still targeted for this month so far.

I'm sorry, I genuinely don't relish being an 'actually...' guy, but that's the MS2 Boba, not BOBF.

They posted again about the Ahsoka release overnight.  She's showing as in stock at HLJ right now.

It looks like she's also in stock at amiami where I have my preorder. They're not asking for money yet because I have another figure due in June.  I canceled the SH Figuarts version a few days ago.  I'm leaning toward Mafex being better plus I had SHF preordered at HLJ. I figured it was less dangerous canceling that order 😬

I still haven't gotten around to watching Ahsoka.

I prefer the look of the Mafex one but skipped her for the Figuarts one as I've a mostly Figuarts display and figure the Mafex one might tower over RotS Anakin.

Finally got Ahsoka in a few days ago.  She's now my favorite Mafex Star Wars figure, although I don't have many of them (just Book of Boba, both Mando 1.0 and 2.0, both ESB and RoTJ Boba Fett, and IG-88).  The poncho is perfection and can be posed any way I can think of ever posing it, and most of the rest of the figure is really, really good.

My only complaint is her ball-jointed feet.  They pop off a lot whenever you try to push her ankle pivot beyond the relatively meager range that it has.  I'm confused as to why they didn't use their regular hinged ankles that get a far greater range of motion.

Luke from Mandalorian was supposed to release this month, but Medicom updated his product page overnight to indicate he will release in December.
