Aiesha was the one to replace Trini, so she was in the Scorpina 2 pack. Tanya replaced Aiesha when they went to the Zeo suits.

I got an Amazon alert that the Lightning Collection Alien Rangers 5-pack is down to $55.49 as a Prime Day deal.    I don't like the Alien Rangers looks enough to pull the trigger even at $11.50 apiece,  but for anyone that might be interested in some cheap Rangers.

So, new 7 inch figures, looking like retread homages to the old school 93 figures. For $35. F that noise. Not sure who's idea that was but I doubt they'll do well.

Aren't those just Super7 repaints without most of the accessories? The metallic definitely makes me feel nostalgic.

Hope they add the trim on Kim's skirt. But definitely not buying these.

I don't think so, but maybe? I thought super7s were more articulated and didn't have holes in the weapons.

Yeah, these are definitely repaints of the figures they've been doing. Articulation looks the same to me, and the originals had both these toy-inspired weapons as well as the more detailed show-inspired versions. Interesting idea, but I'm more interested in seeing what Playmate's Toys has planned for their line of toys.

Trash. That's what Playmates has planned. Worse garbage then bandais older figures. If they do zords that haven't been done before, those may be worth buying. But the figures are gonna be terrible at worst, mediocre at best. Nothing that replaces the ones we got with Lightning. The only way Playmates figures will be any good is if they just use the same mold as the Hasbro ones and continue the line, instead of starting over. But from their press release, doesn't seem like that's what they're gonna do.

The Super7 ones are basically budget Ultimates. I'm not interested, because I don't think the figures turned out very well to begin with, but I think it's good for the line to get a lower price point out there. Most of the stuff these figures came with the first time around wasn't any good anyway. At least the metallic paint might make the colors more uniform throughout the figures too.

Playmates are just going to make MMPR for what they perceive their customer base to be - kids ages 4-8. I wouldn't expect much. At least their Voltron stuff has been fine so there may be some hope for zords, but that's about as far as I'd let my optimism go.

And then they'll do five Rangers and proto the sixth but then never release it.

That particular age range is going to dry up quick, if it has not already, due to no new TV presence.  Their best hope is to market nostalgia to the 40 year olds like every other toy company.  Either way, your last sentence is accurate, don't expect much.

I'm pretty sure we're all in on that train of thought except Playmates. Their Star Trek figures were in the collectible isle, not the toy isle, and they still looked like shitty kids toys. They think kids these days give a f about Picard and Kahn? I don't. But there they were, almost as bad as the TMNT figures. My enthusiasm tanked when I heard the name Playmates.

Yes, I should have put more emphasis on "perceive" as I don't think what Playmates views as the toy market lines up with reality. I literally don't know any kids that play with action figures anymore, and I have two kids right in that age range. The boys only care about video games and (to a lesser extent) Pokémon cards. Barbie still seems to be doing just fine with the girls though.

Don't think I'm going to be interested in the Playmates offerings. Especially if it's going to be more MMPR. If they give us some monsters or Ranger forms that haven't been done (Dino Rangers from MMPR / TMNT II would be sweet), then maybe I'll pick some up.

Power Rangers is in a bad place. I really want Hasbro to sell it to someone who will try to do right by it.
