It's really unfortunate we won't see more from the LC. I was mostly interested in MMPR, Zeo, and In Space
Maybe we will see something from Playmates that works with either line.
Those three incarnations got a decent amount of love. All three teams were completed and all three had SOME sort of villain to fight.
I don't have huge confidence in Playmates but maybe I'll be proven wrong.....
I have zero faith that anything Playmates is going to be up to the standard of LC.
Still need remastered Blue & Rita. Would still like the other two Cobra Kai ninjas (don't care about the Putty). They haven't gone as low as the first two. Have Chun-Li (should put her here), would still like the other three.
Still want to make "Ninja" helmets for the new Rangers (Red Ape, Blue Wolf, Black Frog, Pink Crane, Yellow Bear - to go with the classic white diamond Ranger suits).
Would also like spare White & Blue Ninja heads so I can transplant the "cloth" goods to new heads (was thinking MCU Namor for Blue & maybe Infinity War Cap for White) just to further differentiate them as separate characters than Billy & Tommy.
I could be mis-remembering, but from what I know about Playmates is their whole goal is to produce products that come in under a certain price point. Most retailers know that they have to offer price options when it comes to products. You can get Dr. Pepper, Mr. Pibb or Dr. Thunder. Lincoln, Mercury, Ford. Playmates is built around the idea that they will only spend "X" amount for production, so they can sell between "$" and "$$", as opposed to having most of their items being in the "$$$" to "$$$$" category.
I say all the useless stuff to say, expecting Playmates to really offer anything more than they do will be fruitless, because it goes against their mission statement. And yes, that does suck when it comes to the modern action figure collector because they will never meet our expectations.
Yeah, when I say, "maybe I'll be proven wrong" in regards to Playmates PR, that was me being the absolute most optimistic I can possibly be. I not expecting anything great.
I like Playmates for vintage Ninja Turtles for the nostalgia (and I mean VINTAGE Ninja Turtles, not the carbon copy reissues they are doing) and given that those came out at a time when action figures were still for kids, their MO for toy production fit in just fine. I also like Playmates for their 90's Star Trek figures because that is as deep a Star Trek toy line that we will ever see ever again. Even as a Star Trek fan I held out no hope that their latest effort into ST action figures was going to stick. Sadly I was correct, it was a one-and-done wave.
My dad has most of, if not all, those older ST figures. Back then they were fine. Fun to play with, had a million characters, playsets, ships, decent enough likenesses. But they went down hill at the end when Voyager came out. The girl figures couldn't even hold any of the shit they came with because of how they made the hands. The plastic was softer and bendy. It felt like they just didn't care. I am honestly baffled they made any new ST toys. I'm expecting the power ranger figures to be worse then what Bandai did.
*Fingers crossed somebody like Jazzwares or Jada Toys picks up Star Trek.*
God, yes.
BBTS says their black suit Tommy is coming back in soon. If anyone was still interested.
JFC, man...fing Remastered Blue is fing $120+...I only fing missed him because I didn't have the fing $35 when he f***ing hit...
Yea that's why I didn't even look for them after they sold out. I'm good with the old ones and now they'll be hella expensive. He's not worth that either BTW, if you were considering it.
It wouldn't matter either way - I don't have it.
I'm just looking at the ebay sold listings. One sold a couple days ago for $32 and one last month for $42. It might be worth keeping an eye on ebay if another one sneaks in there.
Kind of weird. It's not a surprise that Green and Red would be more expensive. But what factor makes Blue sell for more than a Pink or Yellow or Black (all of which are still hovering around retail price on the aftermarket)? Good luck.
Blue has only had one previous release. And since he was the first in the Remastered line, people skipped him because they didn't realize they'd want all of them once all six were released.
Which always happens.
Bummer because I ended up with two and sold Blue at a bit of a loss.
Black had a regular release, the gold shield release and the Adam head release. Red has the SDCC release, regular release and this one. Pink had the Kat two-pack release, solo Kim, cell-shaded Pink and the April TMNT. Yellow had regular release, Aisha with Scorpina - or was that Tanya? Green had the putty two-pack and a regular release. But Blue only ever had the regular release plus a Metallic (which they all had).
