Emily from Hasbro posted on Instagram the other day that Power Rangers is on hiatus until new entertainment is released.  They’ve been trying to launch this new universe on Netflix for years now, so I would not be anticipating anything anytime soon.  And I very much doubt that they will just continue where they left off.  When Power Rangers finally comes back, they are going to push the new show and/or whatever sells best, namely MMPR, with whatever form factor they think will make them them the most money, which may not be 1:12 collector figures.

i have no inside info, this is just my guess based on my personal perception of what has been going on with Hasbro the past year or so.

Did the new show already launch on Netflix? Did it flop?

I saw the latest/last wave at Target the other day and got excited for Rose McIver but then I noticed that all the tape had been slit at the bottom and I just didn't feel like dealing with a swap.

Here's what I'm really looking forward to arriving:

Found this Lightning Collection scale figure on Etsy and mine is somewhere in the world on its way to me! Rito was the one figure I really still wanted and this looks way better than what Hasbro could/would eventually do.

I personally would buy the figures from the new teams (I actually am piece by piece), in the hopes they get finished, and so I don't miss out if they do. If they don't get finished, then I can always put them away or sell them if they're worth selling, if I don't want them on the shelf. There are so many teams started that aren't finished as is though so it wouldn't be anything new to get them. I really wish they were gonna finish dino fury, and then do cosmic fury. Cosmic fury is the one they did from scratch suit wise, and it's odd they didn't make lightning figures for it. I got Izzy just recently from dino fury and the belt broke, so I'm gonna try to get a replacement. I have a feeling it was just a defect though, cause her face paint is off center too and it looks odd, so I'm thinking this particular figure was just messed up. I repainted the face just fine. But the belt being broke on top of it just makes me wanna get another one. But otherwise I really like the figure. I just feel like Hasbro finally figured these out now just to stop making them. So I'm gonna guess they do come back, but I would assume in smaller quantities so as to avoid clearance, and probably have a rerelease of the MMPR Remastered figures or something to kick it off, along with whatever new show they decide to do. I would really like them to take a stab at some more megazords, but the prices on those are really high.

Thanks for the advice and insight everybody.  I think I'm going to keep an eye on this latest wave and try to pick it up on clearance.  I don't think that'll be an impossible task.  At least that way if I get stuck with them I didn't pay full price.

I'm skeptical that the Lightning Collection will come back as we know it.  I want to be optimistic, but it seemed like there was a struggle drumming up interest in the line once they'd shot every MMPR shot they could shoot.

Which is a real bummer because, to my know-nothing-about-business mind, this felt like an absolute sure thing.  A property that Hasbro owns the *depends* on parts reuse?  It feels like that should've been profitable all day long.

Buuut, some in-my-head math says it would take about 14 years to get through all the characters of all the teams, and that's not counting how many times you'd have to re-release a version of Tommy to prop up the line.

Hopefully I'm wrong.  Maybe in another few years Millenials will have the free cash and the nostalgia to spark a market for teams that happened after Zordon and Hasbro will give it another try.  On the other hand, waiting for Millenials to have free cash seems like a bad investment.

Has anyone seen a photo of all the villains released in this line together in one pic? I've been trying to see what they look like as a group with Rita and Zedd but no luck so far.

Great custom Schizm! I'll go over to Etsy now to see if I can find others...

Not a great pic, and probably not exactly what you are looking for, but here is my PR villains shelf.  I think I have all Zordon-era villains.

Ah, but they didn't!  There's still the untapped 1995 movie that they could have trickled out through six more waves of figures.

What a great shot! I was pretty much looking to see how many of the larger-sized villains they'd released and see them all together, which is basically the back row of your shelf. They made 7 from my count. A shame we never got that bone guy in the hat or Cyclopsis - two memorable villains from the original run.

I was thinking of maybe adding more of the big villains to my collection - I have Super7 Goldar and Hasbro King Sphinx - but not sure any of those other figures really speak enough to me. Pumpkin guy is ugly, Eyeball guy and Pig guy are just weird, Fish guy...is a fish, LOL.

How many big villains were there in MMPR anyway? One per episode, so...dozens?

And yes, a movie wave could refresh the Lightning Collection, especially if they figured out a way to make Ivan Ooze (who is somewhat fondly remembered) and also throw in Squat and Baboo (since they also appeared in the movie, right?)

Depending on how long Super 7 goes for, their MMPR monsters scale very well with the Hasbro monsters.  I love their Goldar.  And LOL, if you're not a fan of Pumpkin Rapper, Pudgy Pig, Eye Guy, etc, I'd say you might be out of luck.  Pretty much ALL of the MMPR monsters of the week lean in the "ridiculous" direction.

Yes, there was a new monster just about every episode.

Squat and Baboo were not in the movie.  They were replaced by an all new character who's name I forget but he had a pig head.  They basically consolidated their two doofus henchmen into one.

Some episodes had more then 1 monster as well. There were alot of monsters... but not all of them were memorable. I think Hasbro did a decent job of picking some of the more popular ones. But Terrortoad not being one of them is saddening. Or Shellshock. I have all the ones they've released, and besides having to paint half of them, I'm happy with how they turned out. Without the paint, they're meh. But once I put the work in to paint them to be more accurate, they look alot better, and you can see the sculpts are pretty well done. And the newer ones didn't require paint, which was nice.

I'm surprised they didn't do the movie figures honestly. That seemed like a lock. Hopefully in the future.

I totally forgot Squat and Baboo weren't in the movie. But the movie kinda sucked so...I maybe watched it only twice.

The Super7 Goldar is great, you're right. Its too bad they cancelled that cool lady monster figure. She looked neat. Cyclops is like I said was a cool design too.

BTW, did anyone notice their Rita had one leg longer than the other? The position of the legs in the hips is weird. There's a bigger gap for one of the hips than the other.

New Rita or old Rita? I have old Rita and she seems fine to me. She uses the same body as most of the girls and Astronema, just with the cloth goods on top. I can't imagine they messed up on just her for an entire production run without messing up the rest of the girls. Hasbro is usually all or nothing when it comes to fuck ups lol. So it may unfortunately be a defect on yours.

I do not have new Rita, but if she has the new drop down hips maybe you should just try to adjust those. They move up and down independently, and sometimes can get stuck. Although, most of my drop down hips have been too loose, not too tight or stuck. Their way of doing drop down hips on these and GI Joe is just asking for loose and floppy legs. They should've done them like they did for ML Beast. These ones look like they'll break easily because of the thinner pegs, and both sides don't like to stay up all the way at the same time. I don't hate them, but they don't bring anything special imo, and could be a problem in the future after time and degradation.

New Rita is the one with the uneven leg gaps. I don't think it's drop down hips. I actually saw 2 Ritas and both were the same.
