That's a shame- the QC on the HC has been pretty good so far, at least with all my figs. But I guess Trevorrow did say the Giga was like the Joker, so you never know what you're gonna get! That silly Giga, playing tricks on us!
That video does kinda make me want it more, though. I'd only seen a few pics before, but man, it looks pretty dang sweet! Definitely better than the basic (which I know is the point, but still). Could never get over how floppy that basic line Giga was. Silly Giga!
Got my Therazin yesterday. Could only afford it, but even if I'd had the money for both, it was still the priority, as I only heard of the Giga because of Dominion (and my not-dyslexic but still learning disability brain kept reading everyone's writing it as "Gigantosaurus" lol), and childhood dinos will always take precedence over "cool looking toy." Anyway, absolutely love it, and the missing red on the head & white line on the throat could easily be added (we shouldn't have to), but man, I absolutely prefer the Sound Slashin's broader feathery tail over the Hammond's slender tapered one.
Thanks for the video heads-up, Zombie.

I'm 53 and knew about the giga since I was a kid from books, but I was an enthusiast who went looking for as much info as I could so I'm certainly not typical. But I hadn't heard anyone actually say the word until Dominion so I also assumed it was "Gigantosaurus" for decades until I heard Sam Neill pronounce it.
I'll be 42 in August, and dinosaurs were my childhood until TMNT (and then was both until my teens lol), but yeah, never heard of it.
I really hope they do a Hammond Iguanodon. I was over the moon when they did the Roar Striker. That & the Quetzalcoatlus are definitely childhood ones rarely talked about by others since childhood (they teased the Quetzal, right? for Hammond, I mean). And Archaeopteryx (yay, Boss Fight! I still need to pick up that line...).
Would also love to pepper some Struthiomimus in with my mini-flock of Gallis, and am still waiting for a proper "Jurassic-style" Deinonychus (it got a hologram cameo in the first JW!).
Hammond Apatosaurus & Diplodocus would be amazing, but I have no idea where I'd put them, lol. An Allosaurus, too, though I'd hope they'd stick to the more accurate Extreme Damage Roarin', and not the awful Roarivore.
I just ordered an Iguanodon from a seller on WM.com but I got it for retail with free shipping. I only stick to the movie dinos and saw it mentioned it was in the prologue and island at the end of Dominion. I don't know how I missed that. Anyway, you'll probably see a HC one announced any day now. You're welcome!
I wanted the Giga (yes, I was thinking the same pronunciation as everyone else too) since it was the big bad dino of the film. I liked dinos as a kid but really didn't go much further than stegosaurus, a tail-dragging T-rex, brontosaurus (yes, I'm that old), pterodactyl, and triceratops. Anyone remember the Definitely Dinosaurs toy line? Never had one, those things were hella expensive but I did have some from a similar, cheaper line that my mom found at KB Toys one time. Had the rex and bronto from that line. I like learning these new dinos though. I had no idea what a raptor was until JP came out. I had a deinonychus Dino Rider as a kid so I guess I technically knew. Still raptor, at least the JP/JW variety, didn't really enter the pop culture zeitgeist until JP.

Just realized this can't be right--the first fossil wasn't found until 1993 and named until 1995, and I was 22 and 24 in those years. I definitely learned about it within a decade of the discovery though, and I've remembered it being slightly longer than trex for 20+ years.
It's really easy to miss that "o" before the "t" in giganotosaurus, and who knows, maybe when I saw the name the source I was reading from mistakenly left it out.
To make it more confusing, I think there actually is a Gigantosaurus. It's a somewhat lesser known sauropod found in the UK. So it's entirely possible that somewhere along the way we did read about the Giganto and/or the Giga, and just got our wires crossed. I mean, like EnigmaticClarity said, the spelling is the exact same, except one easy-to-miss "O" sandwiched in the middle. Must've been a casual Friday down at the Dino Naming Station that day. 🤣
I've been searching for the right stands for the JW human figures for a while. I have bags of old Startech stands for my 3 3/4" modern SW figures. They were OK, the pegs are slightly too big so you'd have to heat up the feet to get the pegs in. However I just grabbed a bad of these and these seem to work good if your looking for stands. Pegs are just the right size. I opted for the smaller disc size due to space saving but they make ones that are slightly bigger. EBCO stands are my go-to for my figures. I use their 2-peg rectangular stands for all my 6"/7" stuff too

Interesting, didn't realize that. But check out the Wiki on it:

Never seen them describe a dinosaur species as "dubious" like that before. Looks to me like paleontologists now think it wasn't actually a unique species which is pretty much the norm with fossils. Most fossils found never get definitively tied with the right species since fossilization is almost always a process that leaves out some amount of the bone structure of the original animals, and also paleontologists are often unsure about whether any given bone or set of bones is a full adult or a juvenile example of a much larger species.
Looks like the Theri and Giga are already on sale- Theri for $28 and Giga for $35 on the app. Went ahead and placed an order for them- should be here Friday. Glad I waited a bit!
Yep, both popped up today for the first time in stock for shipping with both on sale. Awesome!
Was going to wait to pick them out in stores since Dino Scream Reviews has that video up warning of common QC issues with the giga, but getting them on sale through the app is too good to pass up. It's easy to return them anyway if you get a dud.
Even if you get a Giga with issues, wait till they get more in for an exchange. Nab it now during the sale for the lower price. Target gives you 90 days to exchange/return it. Granted, it'll certainly go on sale again during that time.
Got a Giga earlier. Haven't checked it for any issues yet. Am going to try one store later for a Theri. Most stores in my area are sold out of it, but a nearby store apparently has one. Will try tonight or tomorrow morning for it.
Ugh, Giga looks orderable for me, but says "not available" for pickup, shipping, or delivery. Now what?
So, apparently, I just had to wait for the Giga to sell out, resubscribe to in stock notifications, and that allowed me to place a shipping order for the sale price. *sigh* K.
Fingers crossed nothing's wrong with it when it supposedly shows up Friday.
