Was quite surprised to get an email from Target that my Map Room Indy has shipped.
Two other figures that'd be great? River Phoenix Indy and Garth (the guy who gives him the hat). Garth could mostly be re-use. New face sculpt and a longer jacket is really all he'd need.
ahh yeah, young Indy totally slipped my mind. I’d want that figure too.
I really wish they would’ve given us a different figure than Renaldo from DoD. They could’ve done Young Indy since he was in TLC and fit the wave. But if they had to do another DoD character they should’ve done Klaber (yes I had to look up his name), Teddy, Old Marion, old Sallah, or Flashback Indy from the beginning of the film.

I would have preferred Teddy. He just belongs to the big three. Then again, the Renaldo figure at least looks really nicely done, so there is that.
Got a bit more done today. Here is my second of my three fan-channel exclusive multi pack-concepts for Temple of Doom. This time focusing on the beginning of the movie. It started as a two-pack focusing on the gangsters, until I realized that Hasbro could basically re-use almost all of Club Obi-Wan Indy's body for Lao Che and Kao Kan, so I threw Willie in for good measure.
She would be kind of a saltshaker figure, due to the restrictiness of her dress, but if they could get the colors and that glitter effect right, she would still pop on the shelf.
This is a bit of a wonky 3-pack. I don't know, if there is really that much demand for Lao Che and his remaining son. Personally I'd love to seem them because they are the only enemys of Indy that lived to tell the tale. Also, CoW-Indy would finally have a right to exist. And it could be argued that chinese gangsters could be quite useful for other characters and lines as well (Shang-Chi from Marvel Legends or Quick-Kick from GI Joe for example.) What do you guys think? Is that something you'd like to see?

I dig that new mock up, but the figures themselves would not be a huge draw for me. I still want a Willie, just not necessarily that Willie.

Anyway, here are two more concepts. First a thuggee 2-pack. These would require mostly new sculpts, but fans would certainly buy multiple of these, so that should balance the cost out again. I mean, can't have a bridge fight Indy without thuggees to fight and Mola Ram alone on the shelf is no fun either.
And the next two-pack would conclude both; Raiders and Temple. There are still some characters missing of course, but I'm not sure if there is a huge demand for figures like Satipo or Chatter Lal. I'm sure there IS demand, however for two of Pat Roach's most famous roles within the Indiana Jones movies: the german mechanic and the thuggee chief guard. They would also require mostly new sculpts, but parts could be re-used for each other.
Next: One 2-pack for LC and then... ah, that's a surprise 😀
Would definitely buy both 2pks. Not even sure which I'd want more! The one with both the German mechanic and the Thuggee chief is brilliant.

This is the only fan-channel exclusive 2-pack concept I have planned for last crusade and it's the only one I'm a bit unsure about. While I'm pretty confident that this Sallah would sell, I understand, why Vogel would be a bit... icky to have on the pegs. The body is - once again - mostly re-use from Donovan. But unlike the Raiders-Soldiers, this one really looks like, well, a nazi. I'm not sure if it's the colors, or the hat but... yeah. One glance and you know who and what this dude is. Still, the alternate demise-head would be a fun inclusion and take away from possible glorification.
I need that set.

Came across Cairo Indy at GameStop today, and I had a $5 rewards coupon that was gonna expire, so I bought it. Still not understanding what the extra charge is for. He comes with the same amount of stuff that the first Raiders Indy came with, plus a monkey. This one is articulated at the neck, arms, and tail. Is that really worth $8-10 more? Nope. At least the clips for his lasso and pistol work better and fasten more easily. Otherwise, this figure has no upgrades. Guess I’m taking one for the team!
Edit: Didn't realize the old monkey that came with Marian is also articulated. So nothing new here. What a rip off.
