@jakeekiss yes! Should have mentioned the Last Crusade head is totally compatible with the professor Indy (and all the rest except for Cairo, ToD and Hypno).
The Last Crusade Elsa is showing up at Ollies now along with more Dial of Destiny figures in latest Youtube toy hunt videos I have seen. Just FYI for anyone interested.
Ooh... I'd grab one of those if I could find it cheap - maybe use it for a ML Hellfire Club stand in or something. Alas, no Ollie's on the West Coast.
Honestly, there is a lot of those figures that are pretty good body fodder for 6 inch lines - Dr. Voller, Toht, Brody & Belloq all great suited bodies for 6 inch figure lines. Even the Grail Knight is pretty usable. If I could find any of those at Ollie's (Ross/Burlington/etc) prices I'd probably grab them.
Question for anyone who may know: how much forehead is under Voller's hat? I want to make a custom Doctor Strange Kaecilius with this excellent headsculpt, but I'm worried that there isn't enough to work with under there and I'd destroy a figure for no reason.
I was pleasantly surprised when I realized his glasses were made to be removable - and they are great! Maybe the best glasses I've seen in this scale.
Thanks!
Are you sure the hat is actually a separate piece? I have the head in hand currently and the hat is so snugly on the head that I'm struggling to tell if it's actually a separate piece. Given that information I would believe that there is no sculpted head under the hat and you would likely have to resculpt the entire top of his head to make Kaecilius out of that. I agree the face sculpt is solid but I don't think it's going to work for what you want.
I'm pretty sure they are definitely separate pieces if only so Hasbro could mold them in two different colors. You know how they hate paint!
I wanted to make a Voller with his hat off and I can confirm they are in fact separate pieces BUT his head basically ends just above the brow so it wouldn’t be a simply matter of finding an appropriate hair piece.
Would the Galen Erso figure work for your needs?
Man, the hat is glued on so snugly and so well on mine that while it seemed logical it was two separate pieces I legitimately couldn't tell - I can't get the slightest bit of separation between the head and the hat. But I can tell by the way the hat is sculpted there isn't much head inside it.
Yeah I completely destroyed the hat getting it off. Sadly both Belloqs have the same problem, there’s very little forehead sculpted
Did you happen to take a picture when you removed the hat? Does his forehead end pretty much where the hat begins?
So weird - Hasbro is usually good at leaving the under pieces slightly useable, but maybe that's just Marvel. That's a bummer.
