Wait. We can thumbs up posts? Well Damon’s posts will get a revisit.
Â
Thank you. Always appreciated 🙂
So, let's wrap this up (again). First: Emperor's Tomb. I loved that game, but I don't think it is as known and well liked as "Fate of Atlantis". So another pack that might not work. Still, if there were figures for the game, Kai Ti Chang and Mei Ying would be a must. Kai would be fairly easy, using once again most of Kazims body with only a new neck and chest overlay piece. Mei Ying would require a new body, though. I choose the ninja outfit for her, because that's the most toyetic. I had Von Beck in here too, but his hunter outfit is a little plain and his nazi outfit is... well, unmistakable nazi. So I threw him out in favor for one of the black dragon triad henchmen you fight throughout the game.
And then I made a couple more random characters with mostly re-use friendly outfits like "Ticket Please"-Indy (just for the giggles), LC Brody, Elsa and a german army builder in this fantasy uniform from fate of atlantis.
And with these, I have drawn a little over sixty character concepts in the last three weeks, plenty of them surprisingly re-use friendly. Granted, half of these characters are really obscure (then again, I thought the same about Kazim), but it proves, that there are a lot of options to level out the cost for the few important ones like Mola Ram that would require new tooling. Hell, there might even be a solution for the germans in form of the fantasy uniforms from Fate of Atlantis. Come on, Hasbro. Only a couple of those is all we need to make the collection feel at least somewhat complete.

You rock, Damon! Thank you so much for putting all that together. I feel like we (or Hasbro) should pay you for your trouble! 🤣 It does, indeed, belong in a museum!
@damon I would have bought all of these!
I'm surprised you didn't do a white dress or well of souls Marion.

Yeah, I went with the other dress instead. My main concern was getting a Katanga figure out and I thought that Marion's other dress, which, as far as I know, has never been done and can be used for an "Island standoff" and "opening the ark" display, might have more pull.
But hey, if it's any reassurance, I'll promise you that if Hasbro hires me, and the line does well, I'll get Marion in her other dress out there too. 😀 😀

Bitter and Sweet day has arrived
Pulse delivered the last wave. Well most of them. I know I need them for the build a mural but Shipwreck’s Pappy and Physicist guy are only when I find on sale.
It’s the end. Yes we knew it was finite when it started. We hoped for best. We hoped for Willie and Mola Ram. We got sone nice stuff. I’ll have fun unboxing the figs and playing. So many memes with Jr/Sr. Fun to be had with Elsa. Fun to be had with Grail Knight. Just fun to be had.
Thwipp!Â

Hey! *fordfinger* That attitude might be fine with the other toylines. But not in here. If you life by the hat, you don't give up. You jump on a horse and go after that damn Hasbro truck! And if Hasbro tries to make themselfes scarce, you jump into the ocean, bind yourself to a periscope and sneak into their livestreams, their Q&A's, their con appearances, and when they think they are finally save, you reveal yourself and confront them with a big fat "where's my Mola Ram" question launcher. And when they finally unleash the cease-and-desist demons of an angry lawyer-god, then, but only then, are you allowed to close your eyes and scream in panic like you never screamed before, but you don't. give. up!
I'm just waiting on Entertainment Earth to ship Helena Shaw, Old Indy, Temple Of Doom Bridge Indy and the Belloq + Brody 2-pack that they charged me for 2 weeks ago, and I'll have everything in the line except the Deluxe Indy, which is unnecessary for my collection.
I'll most likely be selling off all of the Dial Of Destiny stuff, but I should probably watch it before I do, in case I actually like it. I have never seen Crystal Skull all the way through because I don't like watching movies that I think are terrible, and the scenes I have watched were, unfortunately, just awful. I like having my Indy memories be all good to great, and I don't have much confidence that watching DoD will let me keep that dream alive.Â
I've decided that I will plunk down the dough on unlicensed figures of Mola Ram and Willie if some unscrupulous toy company decides to fill those gaps, which is something I have never done, and won't do for any other toy line. But Temple Of Doom is my favorite Indy movie, and Hasbro leaving it incomplete makes me break out in hives.Â
It will be funny, if that day comes, to see what will surely be much higher quality figures of Willie and Mola Ram in the same display as this toyline. They'll definitely stand out.
I also received the wave from Pulse. Quick thoughts:
Renaldo - uh, why? He’s fine, but what a waste of a spot.
Volley - likeness is incredible. Wish he or someone came with the Dial.
Grail Knight - gorgeous. His armor has great detail. The sheathe pegs into his belt, sword comes out easily. Hand grips are too loose, sword falls right out of either hand.
Elsa - not a fantastic likeness, really doesn’t capture the beauty of Allison Doody. Neither head does. I gave her the rifle that comes with Indy just to give her something to hold, though she does come with the false grail she chose for Donovan.
Henry Sr might be among my favorite figures in the line. Love the removable hat and glasses, the umbrella pegs onto the suitcase. He comes with a grail diary that Indy should have left at home.
Indy himself is quite nice. I always like the look with the necktie. The rotating fedora doesn’t really make a lot of sense to me. His holster and whip loop plug tightly and easily secure both weapons. I dig his expression.
Overall pleased with most of the wave. Renaldo could have been any other relevant character. Guess Hasbro didn’t know what they had to work with.
OH the grail altar is pretty big and quite impressive. It assembles easily, but pay attention to the leg configuration.  Comes with two plates, two torch bowls, and five other false grails split between figures. There aren’t as many round impressions in the runner as there are grails. Some have narrower bases than the impressions as well. There’s definitely space for all of them though, seven total. The true grail comes with the knight. These build-an-artifact mini dioramas have been a highlight of the entire series.Â
Got Grail Knight from Pulse just now. No sign of movement on the others, but that's okay.
GK is really nice. Was surprised at how heavy he felt in the box. Nothing new to add from what's already been said, but I'm glad to have him. The entire wave looks really strong; they've all been nice, but this one looks extra good. I'm really looking forward to having the Grail table, even if I have to keep it up high so nothing becomes a cat toy.
I hope Hasbro "chooses wisely" and gives us at least one more wave. Heck- it looks like there's life left in the Ghostbusters line, and many were doubting that would ever happen.
Did Hasbro definitely confirm the series is done? Got the last wave today and man, they never phoned in a single thing about these figures. They were clearly crafted with love. As others have said there's more characters we could have gotten and some obvious holes, but if it's really dead in the water, I think they successfully got pretty much all the essentials out into the world plus a few random fun additions. I'll be bummed if it's done, but it's not like they left us hanging significantly with fan faves, at least.Â
@docsilence they've definitely done a beautiful job but no Willie feels like a major gap. My display will never feel right. She's the secondary lead in ToD.
I gotta agree, having them all in hand, no version of Willie really stings. But I also agree, most of these figures were not half assed. All solid. I actually really dig how they approached articulation. The necks in particular are done really well. These aren’t the most posable, but they pose the way they need to be with joints that aren’t typical Hasbro style.
@kassle Yeah, Willie feels like the oversight. Makes me wonder if they had some licensing issues with her image or something cos they got all the other leads and did a bang up job with them.Â
Maybe if this last wave sold well they could sneak in one more, or even some Pulse exclusives or something to round out the line.Â
I’m happy with what we got, but if we get anymore and there’s no Disney issues I would want some more bad guys before anyone else… Mola Ram, Vogel, Dietrich, Thugee, German mechanic and German Soldier (with Indy head for disguise version) I don’t want/need any of the nazi insignia so they can do without 100% accuracy.Â
I’d also take River Phoenix young Indy, Willie in her ceremonial gown and Marion from the snake pit.
I could do without any figures from Crystal skull or anymore from dial of destiny, although it would be nice to have an Indy from Crystal Skull just to have the film represented. I like the idea of an exclusive with the nuke fridge. If somehow that film gets a wave I’ll buy it just like I did the dial of destiny figures.Â
