I ordered Gozer for $12 since all I own are the 4 busters from the 1st film from Hasbro.  I'll probably get Dana later if I decide to back the Haslab.  Mostly stuff you feel like you SHOULD get rather than want to get just to complete a display aka: underwhelming Wolfsbane and Bib Fortuna for the Black Series Jabba etc.

@jtmarsh there's a moment all collectors experience if they stay in the hobby long enough, where they realize they just bought an action figure for their action figure

I have stared into the abyss and the abyss stared back.

But seriously, who's gonna translate for my Jabba?  Threepio?  That guy brings death and destruction everywhere he goes!

@fac Yep and things keep popping up even today with all the standards and practices put in place for safety.   Just last week a chain store here,in Canada (Giant Tiger, think somewhere between a dollar store and K-mart) had to do a recall on infant/toddler clothing because of lead.

At first I thought "What?  Lead in clothing?"   Then further in it mentions that it was the metal buttons on the clothing that had extremely high levels of lead.  So something so small managed to be missed up and down the supply chain until it made it onto shelves.

So yeah all the legalese, and labeling is probably meant to be a way to protect consumers (and retailers/manufactureers) from liability, but as you said the quality of the plastic and manufacturing is probably still the most important factor no matter what age you suggest for the product.

Anyway.

Ecto-1:

8,232 / 12,000 (+198) 68.60% of funding goal with 32d 19h left.

Well back down again from the bump up yesterday. The good thing is that it is less than 4,000 backers away from Tully. However we only have 2+ days left to unlock him.

@mwoo

That would logically follow.  Those that have the greater interest will have jumped on early (their budget permitting).  Others that are on the fence, will wait longer, and either invest in it, or decide it’s not for them.  This product isn’t something that many are going to multiples of, so once they’ve ordered one, they’re less likely to get more.

Smart move doing that under the guise of a Halloween treat. I don’t doubt this will fund but clearly the early bird timeframe wasn’t going to be met. Great call there!

I think that happens really early and long before any of us are really collectors. What kid hasn’t bought a Robin for their Batman? Or a Joker for their Batman to fight? Ken for their Barbie? So much of the figure world is creating pairings or teams, even if you’re not even really doing it because the figure is necessarily cool on their own but because they add something to another figure you adore.

Took Hasbro long enough to realize what the rest of us did on day 1.

I suspect the Hasbro folks looked at how they have $3 million in backers so far and realized the extra $100,000 they might spend to include Tully was not worth risking the whole project and a possible $5 million in revenue if people got frustrated and canceled without Tully.

Plus I would put good money on a bet that the 7 figures were going to be Classic GB Plasma Wave 2 - they already had the figures sculpted and developed and maybe even were doing test runs before they pulled the plug on Plasma. So they didn't have to include all of the development costs in the HasLab, maybe some minimal extra time to tweak.

Yeah, this was a good call for the Haslab, and presumably will lock in a lot more folks. I'm leaning more and more towards getting it, it's just such a good deal all around. It's not totally inside my budget, but I think I can swing it with some creative financing.

Smart move. They're probably pretty confident that this will fund and missing the early bird would only hurt the campaign. Hopefully, they just drop the who early bird thing entirely. I don't think it helps and likely only hurts the campaign. If they had made it a true early bird where all backers who chose to back in the first two weeks got Tully then it would just discourage new backers from joining in after the early bird expired knowing they're getting a lesser product. Just put forth the best product you can with a price and a target and let the people decide if they want it. If it funds early in the campaign, then consider dangling a carrot in the form of a stretch goal to encourage more orders.
