I have no idea why, but the Library Ghost is the thing I want most out of this. And I'm not even a GB fan! This is a really tempting piece because it's so complete.
But if Tully doesn't work out that's gonna really sour this thing. Honestly, two weeks from now isn't even the end of a financial quarter - so what and who does this artificial deadline actually help?
Ecto-1:

Still strong numbers in the early days, but not even half way funded with about 10 days left to unlock Louis. It doesn't look like he will get unlocked. I'm sure this will get funded by the end of the funding period, but the early bird I don't think will happen. Hopefully I am wrong.
I don't see what's to be gained by Hasbro locking Louis out behind a wall if it doesn't get funded in 2 weeks. Locking desirable characters behind tier walls is what annoyed many people on the Reyes Ghost Rider Haslab. Plus they've clearly already sculpted and produced the painted prototype for display at conventions. If this goes south because they can't toss in a mostly reuse figure ( I don't think any of the Busters are pinless either) I will be more inclined to pass on it as I'm still sitting on the fence for now.
I went to NYCC and to the Hasbro panel and saw the official unveiling of this HasLab there. I'm usually only a Marvel Legends and DC Multiverse collector (along with some premium stuff like Mondo and Mafex), but Ghostbusters is technically my first fandom (from "The Real Ghostbusters' cartoon and action figure line when I was basically a toddler), so I got really excited from the hype video and backed it. I've backed all the Hasbro Marvel HasLabs, so not my first rodeo with those, though.
For the Ghostbusters Plasma line, are the only Ghostbusters 1 and Ghostbusters 2 figures the six-figure Terror Dog wave, the glow-in-the-dark figures, and the Tully's Terrible Night set? I like the modern Ghostbusters movies (including the 2016 one), but don't feel like I need figures of them.
Hey, wanted to follow up and confirm that there really aren't more Plasma series figures for the first and second movies beyond the Terror Dog wave, the glow-in-the-dark figures, and the Tully's Terrible Night two-pack.
@normdapito yeah, different approach for sure and clearly it didn’t work for them. I don’t want to say a 1:12 Ecto-1 is cursed but if this fails to fund as well, then there might be more to that haha.
I have to wonder if the impending RGBusters from Mondo might be eating into some Ghostbusters fans (there are dozens of us, dozens!) willingness to part with $427 bucks for this when they already know they have other big ticket items in the offing. I know I'm not looking forward to $808 spent if I go with the 2 packs.
I don't know if it would have moved the needle for me, but the RGB stuff coming from Mondo definitely makes this Haslab a non-starter for me. I would much rather devote shelf space to RGB than Hasbro's take on the cinematic version of the franchise because it was the RGB show and toyline that got me into Ghostbusters in the first place. I love the original movie (GB2 is all right), but I have way more nostalgia for the cartoon (and toys). What Mondo is doing is exactly what I've wanted as an adult collector, though I am terrified of them doing their own Ecto-1 somewhere down the road. And if they do, I'd almost rather they do a vinyl one that's just a display piece. I won't want to put those figures in it anyway if they look as good as the prototypes and it would just be a nice centerpiece.
Same for me. I'm saving my money for Mondo's RGB. Again, it'd be different if I had some decent 6" movie figures to go along with a 6" Ecto, but for my tastes and opinion, they simply don't exist yet. I will almost for sure get an RGB Ecto if Mondo gets around to doing one though. My ideal scenario for the movie would be that someone like NECA gets a 1/10 license again and then Tomy does a 1/10 Ecto Kickstarter someday, but otherwise I'm gonna be sans movie Ecto for the remainder of my living days.
At least that's how I feel today. 🙂

But people sitting on the fence are the reason Louis may nit make itnintonthe final release. So why not just back it now and if Louis ends up not being included you can just back out, no harm no foul?
I feel like this happens with every Haslab. A ton of people wait until the end for no good reason.

But that's my point, rather than getting out of their own way toward their path to success, they stick a mostly reuse, pinned joint figure that a lot of people want as a stumbling block for the campaign rather than just including it. The customers don't prevent these things from being made, Hasbro's lame-brained policy toward said customers do. What's the net benefit to them by Louis not getting included and losing sponsorship vs. never having it be conditional in the first place?
Hasbro does this to themselves for no good reason.
If it's close to funding WITH Louis toward the 12k mark I may pledge if I've decided it's worth it then. If it's 3k away from getting it on the last day, my jumping in isn't really going to matter. Plus the PR behind DragonMan and the 97 Sentinel are more beneficial as they can characterize it as a runaway success. This trip and fall down in front of everyone over your own stumbling blocks placed by the company (ie: Engine of Vengeance) is just going to be another embarrassment they wont want to discuss at cons, so why do that to yourselves over 12,000 Louis Tully figures?

Well almost halfway there with just over a week to go to try and unlock Louis. Barring some amazing turn around I can't see this getting slightly more than 6,000 backers in that time.
@mwoo you could easily turn that around and say "Why have a 45 day window to order then?" If they want people to make up their mind in two weeks, then make the campaign two weeks. If they want to reward someone for backing early, then give them an actual reward. Worth pointing out though, that can backfire too as now anyone who comes late to the party sees that their money is actually getting them a lesser package, but at least it's on the individual there and not the entire crowdfund. And some would say just don't even bother. Do it like Giant Man and put the product out there and let people decide if they want it or not.
People like to procrastinate. These companies aren't going to dramatically change such behavior by dangling a carrot with a crowdfund. It doesn't matter if the decision is entirely rational or not, people are not always rational.
6056 now, so over half way there.
6056 now, so over half way there.
Nice, but it took 5 days (Friday noon Eastern to now) to get there and that was with almost 4,000 backers in the first 24 hours.
We have 9 days (approximately) left to unlock Louis. Where it stands now is that there would need to be around 660 backers added every day to reach the 12,000 backers needed in 14 days. Considering that is higher than any of the daily gains, except for the first 2 days, and that the daily totals have been slowly dropping, I don't know if there will be enough FOMO to get people to back in time.
I hope I'm wrong, but it is looking like a tall ask.
