I hope they made the Louis figure shorter than the rest of the guys. But having him will really accentuate the absence of Janine Melnitz in the Plasma Series.

I went to NYCC and to the Hasbro panel and saw the official unveiling of this HasLab there. I'm usually only a Marvel Legends and DC Multiverse collector (along with some premium stuff like Mondo and Mafex), but Ghostbusters is technically my first fandom (from "The Real Ghostbusters' cartoon and action figure line when I was basically a toddler), so I got really excited from the hype video and backed it. I've backed all the Hasbro Marvel HasLabs, so not my first rodeo with those, though.

For the Ghostbusters Plasma line, are the only Ghostbusters 1 and Ghostbusters 2 figures the six-figure Terror Dog wave, the glow-in-the-dark figures, and the Tully's Terrible Night set? I like the modern Ghostbusters movies (including the 2016 one), but don't feel like I need figures of them.

@canprime I do worry that if Louis doesn’t get unlocked this will pull an Engine of Vengeance and implode. Mattel’s version of a Haslab for Ecto-1 didn’t succeed so there is a bit of a curse surrounding this already. 12k seems totally doable but I just don’t know if it can get there in 2 weeks. And if not, that really left sour taste in the mouths of backers when the last early backing incentive failed. The only one successful with that was the Hisstank and it only took about 24 hours.

Please refresh my memory, what was Mattel charging for their Ecto-1? I don't remember that campaign, if there was one. Crowd sourcing was a little different when Mattel had the Ghostbusters license.

@buttmunch yeah, it would be disappointing if Louis is removed from the set.  But it's almost at 50% to goal and the 10/27 stream will be sure to push things further.  Not to mention the FOMO that will kick in.

It should be that anyone who backs in the first 2 weeks get him no matter when the project funds and everyone gets him if it funds in 2 weeks.  I think they do it this way because they know Haslabs always get a lot more backers once it hits the fund goal so the sooner it funds the better.

@buttmunch that's the big question. Will be interesting. If I could give Hasbro one piece of advice with their crowd fund campaigns it would be to not do these early birds. If you want to get a bunch of early support and encourage backing right out of the gate, then sure, give people some incentive, but don't take it away 2 weeks later. Many people are just procrastinators, and for whatever reason when it comes to crowd funding that procrastination almost always shows up. You're not going to change the behavior of the consumer with these early bird incentives to that great a degree, all you're doing is punishing people for not making their decision faster.

Of course, none of that will matter if it funds in time. I am personally not backing this because I have no place for a 1:12 Ecto-1 in my collection, but if I was the Tully figure would be a big draw for me. I love Rick Moranis and I love the idea of having an action figure of him. I'd probably buy it if it were sold separately so I'd absolutely be ticked off if I did back this thing and that was taken away.

I'd take a Janine figure over Tully every day of the week.

I hadn't paid much attention to the Plasma series but looked it up after the HasLab launched and was surprised it was only one wave for the first film and no ghosts...

@fac I don't think it sold all that well. It felt like they were perpetually on-sale. And then I think the wave for Afterlife did even worse so they never came back with a Ghostbuster II wave or did anything for Frozen Empire.

Have they said that if they don't unlock him they won't release him?

GB is an odd property for Hasbro as they have no truly active line around it, but with Legends they could easily say the early bird is a future release that if not unlocked will still come out at some point, so it is all incentive to get in early with no "punishment" to the community if it fails.

...so they never came back with a Ghostbuster II wave...

That might explain the inclusion of all four in this HasLab for a relatively low extra markup - if this was meant to be the GB II wave, they may have had the sculpts and renders already done, so not really adding as much to the cost of the HasLab as if they had to develop from scratch. I could easily see the four main cast in GB II outfits, Tully and Slimer being the 6 figures with the Library Ghost the BAF.

It wouldn't be the end of the world for me if GB2 Tully didn't make the cut. I already have the Tully/Vinz Clortho figure from GB1 which is equally if not more amusing to me. But I completely understand how annoying it would be to lose that incentive if this isn't funded in two weeks.

Here's what I could find on Mattel's attempt at the Ecto-1. They were only charging $215 in 2013.

I wonder if anyone is getting the base model and only the base model.

If I end up backing this, I am just doing the base model. I don't need the GB2 figures, nor the GB roof rack just sitting in a box. I would want this as a display piece for my Mezco GB figures, even if they don't fit inside it.

I have the Plasma series figures, the sequel older versions (along with the kids), but I don't need the dark grey suits on top of it.

I'm also displaying mine with my Mezco One:12 set. I still went for the deluxe, though, as that's my favorite version of the car...I might have to go with a mix and match as far as figures and car go.

Yeah the early bird aspect is strange when it comes to Haslabs.

On the one hand, they don't charge up front (meaning when you back) so there is no harm, no foul for backing right away.   That should incentivize people to back early for Louis.   However that is no guarantee, as the Engine of Vengeance showed.

On the other hand, since they don't charge until the end of the campaign what is the point of offering an early bird incentive?  Especially if it is going to be given to everyone even if they don't back in the first two weeks?  Maybe it is to tweak the numbers in the hopes of getting the final total higher, but otherwise there isn't much of an, apparent, incentive otherwise.

It seems like the Haslabs have been drifting away from gimmicky ideas to increase backing in the past year.  So having an early bird show up again seems a bit out of whack currently.

Ill be skipping Ecto-1 but it does look superb. What i do want is that Haslab Slimer and the Old lady Ghost, those look amaze balls.
