@tsi, I'm generally a fan of Super7, but the big sticking point I have with Flynn is that he assumes collectors just pick a pose for a figure and then leave them like that forever.
Which I guess is a self-fulfilling prophesy because their designs are so limited that's really all you can do with them.
I'll usually have a couple dudes on a side table that I can fiddle with while watching shows or whatever, but it's never an Ultimates! figure.
Of the two, I'd MUCH prefer NECA get the chance. Super7 just ain't it.
Yeah... I wasn't suggesting Super7 is my preference, just that they'd be more likely to do it.
It's possible NECA might try eventually. But it would be a trickle and take awhile to get through the cast similar to how they have done Gargoyles - at best.
NECA expanding their line to other D&D avenues is likely the greatest chance any other D&D branch has at a decent toyline. I have zero interest in the cartoon's designs outside maybe Venger, if he has the level of detail and accessories of NECA's current offerings. Game characters, major mainstays, and monsters are what I want to see most, in a line that isn't half-assed.
I've been really enjoying the Drizzt set after getting him in-hand, but he's VERY out of place in the grand scheme of my collection.

If NECA were able and inclined to branch their D&D offerings into the cartoon characters I might actually buy them if they did them in a more realistic style and weren't slavish to look like the animation ( Masters of the Universe Classics style). I could see myself buying characters in those costumes assuming they could stand along side the NECA D&D figures I already have without looking silly.
But I think if they did that there would be a segment of the audience that would be upset that they weren't slavishly animation accurate and I don't know how well they could afford a bifurcated audience.
And if that doesn't come to pass, well I'll hope NECA will keep cranking out their D&D figures and maybe pick up the pace slightly - 4 a year seems pretty sparse.
Hasbro cut corners on quality with this D&D line and that’s why it’s a peg warmer. NECA has done an outstanding job with their own D&D offerings. I would really like to see them get licensed to do everything D&D in that scale. I also really like Super7 D&D Reaction Figures I really hope they can do those D&D characters on O-Ring bodies going forward so we have more pose ability. It would be wonderful if they could also get licensed for everything in that 3 3/4” scale. Hasbro owes it to us to get those animated characters out to us even if they have to license it out. It’s inexcusable the crappy plastics used in that animation line. I still haven’t bought the second half of the wave because of that first launch. Were the quality issues still present? I’m planning to pick those three up now that they are on clearance but even at 1/2 off prices if the quality issues are still there it’s really a downer.
Goddamnit! It's Super7
I mean, I guess maybe now they'll at least scale well with NECA?
Aaaaand Hank can fully draw his bow.
Okay, and we're getting Shadow Demons, so that's pretty cool.
And now that I look at it, that Skeleton Warrior looks pretty dope too.
So yeah, I'm buying them all.
I just saw these on Instagram. These are a lot more like what I had in mind. I don’t know what Hasbro was thinking with their line. Super7 has captured what was in the 80s animation. Even though that price is a little extravagant, I can justify it in this case. I can certainly recall buying many Monster Manual or Dungeon Master Guides for similar prices! I still hope we get some D&D O-Ring figures too but I am definitely all-in on this one!

Oh crap, these look better than the hasbro ones. I just needed Presto and Sheila to complete my team. now i gotta start all over again, son of a bitch, damn you Super7!!!
That skeleton figure looks excellent.
Goddamn, those Shadow Demons would look great with a Dr Strange or such incantation scene. Do want.
This is bittersweet. On one hand they are better than Hasbro's and we will get more characters then they would ever have made. On the other hand it is Super 7.
It is expensive but I am getting them. Dekkion is a day one preorder. Hank and Sheila will for sure be in my collection day one. The two shadow demons are cool but I am unsure, not the side character I would have chosen.
So wave one, we will almost certainly get the other four kids. Who else to expect in the other four slots? My guess is Vengar, Warduke, Dungeon Master, and Strongheart. I think Kelek would be a lot of fun though (and would prefer him to Warduke), and Phaelona would be one I would love, but would never expect.
Either way, I am so excited, especially with Dekkion, and this will be an amazing wave of figures.
It's good news, at least, that other companies see this as a missed opportunity for Hasbro.
Given Super7's proclivity towards big ticket items (Cobra Airship, Thundertank, etc), this may be the only avenue for getting a Tiamat.

I'm sure Veebs will ask him about Tiamat at their next interview, and I can already hear Flynn's answer.
