Hasbro announced some new D&D stuff today, including a comical attempt to merchandise Baldur's Gate 3 seven months after the fact.

I am part of the problem, I preordered the coin. However.... give us better merch. I want action figures, minis, or even dice. Having nothing announced it insane to me.

Not sure if this is a Hasbro or Super 7 question, but what are the chances Super 7 finishes the cartoon D&D crew? I keep thinking of picking up Hank and Sheila (I was so disappointed in the Hasbro versions, but I'd love one NICE set of the party) but I don't want to burn $110 for two figures without knowing we'll have the whole crew.

@docsilence I don't know if there's any way to be sure until after the current stuff ships. I don't think Hasbro is pulling the license from anyone because they already got their cheddar selling it, but whether the line is worth it to Super 7 to continue is another matter entirely.

I think it depends on how strong the sales numbers were for the first wave - and how shaky Super7's relationship with Hasbro is currently.     If pre-orders for the first wave were strong enough to move forward then it would seem reasonable to believe a wave 2 would be solicited in the next couple of months.   If they continued at the pace of 2 members of the party per wave it would take at 3 waves to get us the 6 main party members -  but again, if sales of Wave 1 were strong enough to warrant a wave 2 then I'd imagine most people who ordered would be in for whole gang and so Wave 2 would probably be strong enough to warrant Wave 3.     It would depend on who else from the show gets included in the waves though to know for sure if would extend beyond that

Other characters that could be included from the show:

Venger and Dugneon Master obviously

Then -   Kellek,  Warduke,  Lukyon the dwarf wizard,  Dekkion, warrior of the lost tower,  there are some others, but those season 1 guys would be most likely in my estimation

Dekkion is already in wave one.

Warduke - I've actually been running Wilds Beyond the Witchlight for some friends and the League of Malevolance and Valor's Call make appearances, and I'd love to see all those dudes in action figure format. I know we've got NECA Warduke, Steelheart, Elkhorn and... the lil orc rogue, Kallak? So maybe that's where to put my money right now.

I do wish Hasbro hadn't gone so cheap on their own cartoon versions though. Those feel like knockoffs.

The cartoon is what I'm most familiar with when it comes to D&D, and even then, I barely ever watched the actual show. I'd watch the opening credits, then change the channel. I would have bought the whole set if they had put more effort into them. I like the fantasy aspect of the license, and I love how NECA's figures came out enough for me to buy them. But I have passed on pretty much all of Hasbro's offerings except the first Drizzt they released with the panther (which is the highlight).

@normdapito Both Drizzts and the monsters are all really well done. The movie figures I picked up but at least the ones I got were riddled with QC issues. The face sculpts were VERY good for the cast, but I had so many stuck or broken limbs.

I can't speak to the movie figures -  but the movie Monsters that were released were all phenomenal.   The Owl Bear(s), the Displacer Beast and the Beholder are all top notch and I love that I have them.

I would be happy if Hasbro decided to do more beasts -  but given that the others hit clearance fairly hard I don't hold much hope.

@panthercult Only hope I really have now is that Hasbro woke up after BG3 was such a colossal hit and was like "oh no" and it's just taken them this long to engage on it. I'd love a few more monsters (particularly D&D specific ones like Mind Flayers and such), and I would definitely go for some of the BG3 party, though I think it's a long shot for either.

yeah, the clearance has me worried, but the beholder, displacer beast, and owlbear are all some of the best stuff in the line. I'd love for them to pop out a bunch of monsters.

The details on the movie figures were actually really lovely. Just had some joint issues, like my Holga snapped off at the hip right out of the box and Forge couldn't move either leg.

I think you're part of the solution. I wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro uses the coin as a litmus test for other merch.

Y'know, good point about the merch thing, a test for more stuff later. Though I did pay full price for the monsters they're discounting now. I'm usually an easy mark for this stuff.

I'm a mini-buying fiend and really would buy minis from them like crazy, but with Wizkids having the license I just buy them everywhere else instead. I use minis so much in my games my GF will see a box arrive on the steps and if it rattles, she goes: "Minis?" If they had sets on Pulse I'd be an absolute mark to buy them there, too.
