Goddamn, those Shadow Demons would look great with a Dr Strange or such incantation scene.  Do want.

Aaaaand Hank can fully draw his bow.

There's no way in hell Super7 makes a figure which can fully draw a bow.   Don't be fooled by a render.

Only the monsters are tempting to me.   And I'll just wait till they're marked down.   Part of me thinks Super7 isn't even going to get enough preorders for these, and they'll end up cancelling them.

Now that the Hasbro line hit clearance I picked up 3 figures + Venger/Master set. Personally, I love the line and the retro look to them. Don't really have any complaints. After running the joints under hot water all was smooth. Have 3 more figures to pickup and I'll have the set.

Have a feeling these will one day be desired at a premium but who knows? Won't touch Super7. They look awesome in concept and have great accessories until you get them in hand and see their horrendous quality. Too fragile and cheaply made. The odd figure turns out ok and may be worth it on sale but overall the price doesn't match the final release. Very hit and miss.

Wave 2 of this line is on extreme discount here in Australia at Toymate. Picked up Sheila, Eric and Presto for $6 each and Venger/DM for $12. I got Diana ages ago for $10 and picked up Hank for $13 (also had a voucher to get him down to $3). So for Just over AU$40 I've got everyone... except Bobby. Because he was never released here (and the small amount that made it were actually errors and had Presto in Bobby's packaging).

Right now I'm looking at around $60-$80 to get him. Not terrible if you consider the cost of the rest! Just wondering if anyone else in another country where he possibly hit in numbers has some suggestions outside of eBay, Amazon, or wherever as shipping is the killer here.

How hard would it have been for Hasbro to make this? Money on the table going to a third-party instead.

I don’t know why people are equating the disinterest in Hasbro’s subpar quality Dungeons & Dragons animation figures for people’s interest in the characters and property itself. Many of us were disappointed in the broken figures in the blind box packaging. I never bothered buying the second wave to complete the set. The dice set was the only “quality” in the release! I very much look forward to these.

They're called Yoto Toys. The Mimic is up for pre-order at 5K now.

Hasbro recently released their 4th quarter earnings report which was not good, but Wizards of the Coast performed well with most of that attributed to Baldur's Gate 3 and MTG. Of note though was this item about 2024:

  • Consumer Products Segment revenue down 7% to 12% with 4 points of the decline coming from businesses shifting to an out-license model; Operating margin 4% to 6%.

This seems to align with some of the stuff we're seeing coming from Super7, but perhaps this also means Hasbro will be more willing to license out D&D to other toy producers? With the success of BG3, it almost feels like now or never for D&D figures.

Uh, isn't that saying they *lost* money licensing stuff out?  I have no idea how that can happen, but I'm not seeing how 'revenue down' + 'decline' add up to 'let's get more money continuing this'.

They keep less of the pie by licensing it out versus producing in-house. I was interested in seeing the acknowledgement that this has become a strategy for Hasbro. You would expect a decline upfront in revenue, but a potential long-term increase in profit as they essentially remove cost. They're saying revenue is down, not profit.

I agree with Misfit's interpretation.  Sure revenue is down a little -  but costs should likely be down more.   The thing with licensing brands out is they collect the fee whether or not the product sells or falls flat.    If it sells well, they will keep collecting fees going forward and if it flops - the loss isn't on them.
