Thanks for the heads up on the Vintage Skeletor. I'm curious if it will show up at other retailers or "fan channel" stores, so I'm gonna hold off for a bit. Which is going to be a mistake of course, because it will sell out and those preorders are gonna disappear, but hey, it's worth seeing if I can find one here in Canada.
Sigh. And now that new Skeletor order is “delayed”. Womp womp.
OMG are you serious? Mine hasn't had that happen yet. YET. But man, I do hate Wal-Mart. Thats why I cancelled my pre orders and placed the new orders. Because quite often, Wal-Mart screws things up. I almost kept my pre orders until I saw if I got the figures from the new order.
But I figured if they really were in stock, Wal-Mart would just fulfill my pre orders too and I'd be paying extra for extra figures I don't need.
But I'm sure these Classic Retro versions aren't only Wal-Mart Exclusives. I'd say they will end up fan channel at BBTS and EE as well, like the other MOTU exclusives from 2024. So, whenever I can get them, I will.
But that blows your order got delayed man. Hopefully you still get them no matter what. I will tell everyone on here if mine actually ships, or if I too get the delay.
I got lazy and didn't do the reorder thing today - Ace, sorry Walmart is screwing with your order. Feels like it's been a minute since Walmart has been the absolute disaster they were for so many years with preorders. They lulled us into a false sense of security actually coming through on the last half-dozen or so. I swear for a few years there I just assumed they'd screw up every preorder but since like... I think it was the Marvel Legends Doctor Strange they got reliable for a year or so. Zodac is one of my favorite characters so hopefully they don't totally screw the pooch on this one.
I got the "Order has Shipped" notice for my Zodac that I just ordered - the "vintage" loin cloth Zodac, not to be confused with the 3 $12 Revelations Zodac figures I got from them 10 days ago. I still haven't got a shipping notice on my pre-order Zodac, so... still waiting there. I am about to build a council of Cosmic Enforcers for sure.
So I just got the new Evil-Lyn. what a strange combination of design decisions she is. On the one hand, she has the best face sculpt of IMO of any woman character in the line so far; she's the ONLY female character whose neck is long enough; and her overall design is perfect New Eternia, combining all the hallmarks of her original design but making it fresh and modern.
But single-hinge elbows with almost no movement, no bicep cut, and almost no front to back movement in the hips. The engineering feels phoned in, but the art direction feels like a lot of love went into making her.
Edit: despite my complaints about her range of motion, this is 100% my favorite Masterverse woman character. He face sculpt and proportions are a generation better than the rest of the line. Bring back the old arm ROM and I hope all figures going forward are this nice.
Grumble. My new Zodac order is now delayed too. Grumble.
Evil Lyn actually has been designed with pretty good range of movement in the hips- it is limited by the skirt piece. There is a production issue though that means, out of the box, it has little practical range.
I placed my figure in some boiling water, and immediately both hips were moving without issue. One has reverted to its previous 'stuck' position (where if I move it more than a few degrees it feels that its going to break), but the other one is fine. I'll give it another try later to get the other one moving properly; I've taken a couple of pics below to show the difference between the two joints;
Woke up to a delay message on my full order of Skeletor and Zodac. No updates on the original Skeletor order. The new order was processing though.
Classic Evil-Lyn looks superb but i prefer the one with the Bat costume, thats a badass design. I wanna get it but dont know when, have too many figs on my want list?
@dave-o I'm going to have to do the boiling water thing. Looking at the hip mechanics it's just the ball joints are way too tight - there really is plenty of space for range of movement if the ball joint would cooperate. I hate needing to add shock oil because I worry what it'll do over time but really, if I could the socket to move without feeling like I was going to snap the leg off the range is there.
The arm are surprisingly limited in movement, but the sculpt of them is so much nicer than earlier figures it's almost a fair trade off. Wish she could bend her elbow up a little more to get more cool poses with her mace/staff but I can live without it. Visually she's in my top five figures from the line, easily.
Okay, forgive me if this has been covered somewhere in the previous 45 pages, but what the hell is with Fisto’s hair? It’s supposed to be red but they made it brown. As a ginger myself, it’s part of the whole reason I like him so much.
The new figure is otherwise great, but that detail pisses me off.
My Zodac and Skeletor order still says processing. It hasn't been delayed, but it hasn't shipped either. It says the figures will arrive tomorrow. I know that won't happen.
Now my Skeletor and Zodac have been delayed.
Just open Skelkon and it might be one of my favorite figures in the line despite not being a classic character. The hinged mouth, the skulls on the tongue (fantastic design choice), the fact that he can carry his entire kit of weapons at the same time, just a top tier figure from this line.
Also: his box art has generic Stratos-species characters, both men and women. I'd love to see more of Stratos' people in Masterverse and I hope that's a sign.
