ForEternia.com has an official pic of the classic Zodac, but so far all we've seen of Panthor is pics from the display at SDCC.  And yeah, Panthor's a Mattel Creations exclusive, no release date yet.

Wow. I’m so glad I had not quit this line. I thought I was almost done.  I don’t pay too much attention to announcements since Masterverse is low key for me, but I am so pleasantly surprised when they show pics of upcoming figures. I had no idea most of those figures in that ForEternia link were on their way. And now they are doing Retro Origins Masterverse style?  I’m totally in for that. Panthor is a must for me as well. Any news for a Queen Marlena and Princess Adora figures in the works?

@cmoney Thanks for the pic, seriously appreciate that and the link. Yep, I'll be taking a day off from work if I have to to get Panthor in this line. I can't tell if he's better than the original or not from the pics, but I was just messing with the Battle Cat and while he's not perfect... I'd buy Panthor on the same body with zero hesitation. Really Masterverse is Panthor and a few characters away from me being 100% happy with the entire line.

I like the cleaner look of the classic Zodac, too, though I don't dislike the first one we got in the least. I'm really happy with the first version.

We were talking a couple weeks back about the lack of decent He-Man head sculpts in Masterverse.  I'm sure the topic comes up wherever MOTU collectors gather, and it came up on the reddit yesterday, where I saw a couple of suggestions for better heads.  Someone started with Marvel Legends Ka-Zar, and someone else said ML (comic, not movie) Ikaris would be better.  I like both ideas, but I've yet to see either head actually tried on a He-Man body by anyone.  I assume they're probably too small.

@cmoney Those heads are unquestionably too small for Masterverse scale. They'd make good heads for 6" though. I saw someone turn a Ka-Zar into He-Man and it looked good. Mattel's heads are all lacking. Some are too cartoony, too young looking, too brutish, too happy.. I mean, it's not that hard!

It is in my opinion that Mattel has already great looking Heman headsculpts at the ready that would satisfy the majority of fans. However it goes back to the whole “make something slightly off or not as good” to string you along to purchase better headsculpts later on a Heman variation you may not want but will buy because it has a good headsculpt you can put on the Heman body of choice in your collection. Pretty much par for course with most toy companies nowadays unfortunately.

I will as well, even though there is room for improvement, especially since BC is technically an animated version.  But hell, I'd even buy it again as friggin' Dupli-Cat, so maybe I'm not the best measure of reason here.

Two cents: I haven’t had an issue with any of the New Eternia head sculpts. I like the 40th as well.

@cmoney I am right there with you - my opinion of articulated animal companions of any kind in lines I collect at this scale is not to be trusted. As a kid all I wanted was a non-static, posable Battle Cat and Panthor, so a functional but not amazing version does me just fine. A really good one? Even better. Mediocre? I'm surprisingly okay with that.

@anthonywayne I actually am the same way. I don’t really have too much of a problem with any of the HeMan headsculpts. However I can see why others ares till searching for a better headsculpt. Especially with the comparison pics from other figures or artwork showing the style they prefer.

Heck, I’d take a Clawdeen on that sculpt

Catra needs her ride too.

Clawdeen is the funniest name to me.

Latest wave should be arriving from BBTS today. Can't wait for that Battle Armor Skeletor. This dude doesn't have a bad figure.

I don't mind the 40th head, but really want something a bit more handsome or chiseled, or something... I'm not sure what it is, but the 40th head, while fine, is just lacking something I can't quite put my finger on.

I really hoped the Masterverse Movie He-man alt head would be good, as it looked great in the promo images, but in reality, it turned out too small, and the painting and hair aren't doing it any justice.

Thunder Punch/Faker head looks okay in blue, but make it he-man coloured and all of a sudden it looks like a weird 12 year old bully from an 80s or 90s kids movie.

I just opened the latest wave with Merman, Goddess Teela, Man of War, and BA Skeletor. That was the order, thinking I'd start with the one I anticipated the least and work my way up. As it turns out, I'd have to swap the ranks for Merman and Teela.

Based on promo pics, I just felt something was off about Merman, so I was least excited for him. He's actually pretty darn nice. He has clear jewels for eyes, with the pupils set inside them somehow, which is weird for eyes, but still an interesting effect. The yellow color isn't really what I picture for him, but seeing it in person, with its metallic sheen against the iridescent teal skin, gives him a striking appearance. I don't love his curved corn sword, but the spear is a nice inclusion. Kinda would prefer a trident. I picked up a McF DC seahorse from Aquaman, and I'm thinking this will be Merman's mount.

Teela is kinda boring. I find it weird that her legs are almost completely bare but she has long sleeves. Her legs are kinda shapeless cylinders, a problem I've seen consistently with this line's females. Accessories are sparse, so it's just a bunch of points against the figure.

Man of War is pretty sleek. I like the look with and without the face plate. I like the asymmetry, but am weirded out that his right arm is the armored one this time around, and not the left. I kinda like the mace option better for his right hand, just to keep the asymmetry going. I don't really care for the flamethrower, as the flame seems really short. Like it's a welder.

This may be my favorite Skeletor of the line. I do kinda miss the purple cloth hood, but I really like the trend of having a hinged jaw. The face sculpt is excellent. The armor is a total upgrade. I love the chainmail skirt and hood under the helmet. This just feels like a warrior. The most intimidating version of Skeletor, that doesn't seem to be relying on magic as much as berserker strength. So good.
