Isn’t that just Classics Evil Lyn?
The pic is, yeah, but the caption has the info:
"Toy Habits exclusive! A yellow skinned Evil-Lyn is coming to the Masterverse Vintage Collection! We don't know when but an anonymous source has said her tooling is complete!"
Could be BS, of course, but it's not exactly farfetched.
PS: Anyone else ready for a New Eternia take on Moss Man and some Snakemen?
I'm ready for everything to get the NE treatment. Teela in particular.
Toy Habits is usually pretty spot on when they say they've heard something is coming. So, I'd say it's likely this yellow skinned Vintage Evil Lynn is on the way.
This Vintage Series in Masterverse could end up being the most amazing thing in MOTU figure history. But it's got competition in the New Eternia Series.
I really want a Vintage and New Eternia Prince Adam.
Please forgive a moment of whining/venting:
I hate the way Mercari search results show you SOLD items by default.
It's an odd and annoying choice. I don't want to see active AND completed sales. It's either one or the other, never both.
I do love the Masterverse line. The scale, the style, the design choices, the articulation... But I still don't think they're nailing anatomy sculpts. Something about them is still off. I've never loved how the lower leg from the knee transitions into the boot on most male figures. It's so weird and bulbous. Speaking of bulbous, I don't love the bulky vintage He-Man upper torso. It's too puffy, without getting the shoulders to match. The female bodies have always looked stiff to me, brought out further when I see pics of Green Goddess Teela. I might change my mind on that once I have her in hand, but it's still the case on most of the females I've gotten. They just look stiff. no subtlety to the curves of the athletic female form. I'm not looking for realism, but in terms of style, it all just seems blocky and geometric.
@normdapito I agree, Norm. I really do like this line a LOT, but in a lot of ways it feels more like a toy than a collectible than any of the lines I collect. Not stopping me from buying, but just missing that oomph. Funny you mention the Green Goddess figure - I was SUPER looking forward to her but she had the worst stuck joints I've had in this line since Wave 1. Had tough joints on the new Skeletor too, but Man-o-War Duncan was a lil loose.
Those criticisms aside, the new Mer-Man has the best paint apps I've seen in this line so far. I wasn't sure I NEEDED another Mer-Man but he's got this subtle green overlay that's really gorgeous. I hope they do more of that in the future.
Saw the Battle Armor Skeletor wave at a couple of Targets in the past week. I seem to keep missing out on Skeletor himself but got Snake Teela, Man o War, and Merman. This continues to be a sleeper hit line for me and always brings a smile to my face.
Got Man O War— love it. Like Man at Arms mixed with War Machine. Really cool character design and the figure came out great. Love the faceplate and blast effect.
Found the the newest wave on Sunday at the only Walmart in my general area that is carrying Masterverse. I bought two figures figures I didn't preorder, Mer-Man and Skeletor, along with an extra Teela, while she sits in my POL. I think this Mer-Man looks to be the best of his three releases, so I had to buy him. Skeletor might be my favorite Masterverse version of him (don't have the throne). Pretty solid wave despite no up-down wrist hinges and some tight joints. I needed to apply shock oil to Mer-Man's head socket and Teela's hips. Skeletor's shoulders felt so tight, I was wondering if they were moving freely or twisting in their sockets. I think they're okay, but scary tight.
I wonder when the Masterverse Horde Trooper, or the Masterverse New Eternia Panthor will go up for order on Mattel Creations? I really expected one of them this month, but as of now there is no MOTU on the schedule for October.
I wonder if one of them could be something offered in October for NYCC.
@supercamel-1982 Yeah I am surprised they didn't having anything announced for October (at least MOTU related). However I do find MC is not all that great anymore at communication. So I won't be surprised if something just pops up in an email in the coming weeks.
Panthor and the Horde Trooper are the two Masterverse figures I am most interested in trying to get since I want a Panthor to go up against Battle Cat. And the Horder Trooper, well it is a Horder Trooper nuff' said.
If they're going with a new sculpt for Panthor, I hope they use it for Battle Cat too. The existing BC from Revelations is too styled to the animated series. I want a Masterverse New Eternia version.

The Masterverse Battle Cat looks TERRIBLE, so I'm really hoping Panthor is a new mold. Battle Cat is too barrel chested (felines just aren't shaped like that) and the head is obviously supposed to be Cringor, though there's no good reason for that to be desirable. It's really no wonder Battle Cat sold so poorly. If Panthor uses that mold I'll probably pass and keep using the Origins one in my display (since I don't have a MOTUC one, though I do have a MOTUC Battle Cat which I'm still using).
I hope Panthor is a new mold too, because I really want a New Eternia Battle Cat, and I don't want it on that Revelations body. Panthor does seem to look sleeker and slimmer in what pics I've seen. So, hopefully he is on a new Cat mold.
