Masterverse is NOT like legends.
If you say so! Clearly, I disagree. Honestly a bit baffled it's such a controversial take, but it doesn't really matter.
Masterverse is NOT like legends.
Except in all the ways it is?
Marvel Legends provides 1:12 high-articulation action figures in scale with each other based on the entire breadth of Marvel animation, film, comic books, and previous toys presented in a unified style DIVORCED from the specific style of their origin, so that they will all look right together as one uniform collection.
Marvel Legends has broken its own 'rule' in this regard only sparingly for specific products (i.e. Spider-Verse)

Besides all that.. yeah, they're nothing alike.
@cmoney - I think, perfect world, the kids' line they made for the CGI show (fully in the CGI style/proportions) would have just been.. better. Those figures fucking sucked and that's why no one bought them. Who the goddamn hell at toy companies these days is still pitching, and approving, 5 POA action figures? Who thinks that's a good idea? Adult collectors don't want cheap bullshit like that, and kids are A) also not interested in shitty toys and B) only barely interested in toys at all these days, it being proven that adults are taking over the toy buying market.
So... who were those figures for? No one. Another ball Mattel dropped.
If those figures had been better articulated - more in line with somewhere between Origins and Masterverse, I think they would have done much better. AND it would have allowed the core of those designs to be done in Masterverse in the basic Masterverse style for those that liked elements of them, but didn't love the proportions. Everyone wins. Instead, no one really won except the people that really wanted either shitty toys, or only ever getting CGI versions of He-Man and Skeletor with appreciable articulation.
Whoo boy.. there was a bit of a rant, huh?
Well, I don't find anything to disagree with there. I do think it would've been interesting to see a more classic "take" on the CG stuff, I'd like to see what they came up with. Especially if they'd just done a proper show-based line alongside it.
Just got Sy-Klone, who was one of my top two favorite heroes along with Roboto when I was a kid. This new version is awesome! Love the subtle metallic sheen on the gold and blue parts of his armor. The translucent plastic on his chest, shoulders, arm effects, and shield look great. Love the new faceplate. Such a cool overall aesthetic.
Opened the Bone Throne today. Highlights include:
opening jaw on Alcala head
stands for Havoc and Snake staff
furry cushion for Skelebutt
premium paint on the figure

How are the lights?
I saw Robo's review of it and the lights seem to have been a minor issue for him. (Not any sort of rhyme or reason to how they work and getting stuck on)
@canprime I think they’re pretty cool. Press button once for each color, from orange to green to blue and back to orange. They stay lit indefinitely, and a long hold of the button turns them off. I actually like the colors more when they are slowly transitioning from one color to the next. It’s a cool gimmick but doesn’t need to be so expensive.
I found Mekaneck and King Keldor at Walmart tonight, on clearance for $10 each.
I also found McFarlane DC Multiverse regular and platinum Dick Grayson Batman (full price). It was a good evening!
Oh. I’m gonna have to check my Walmarts for an extra Mekanek that’s hopefully on sale too. Kinda want more pieces for his neck to extend.
Missed the convo about the new(ish) kids' cartoon aesthetics and just wanted to chime in that my nephew, who is one of the few kids his age I know who LOVES action figures, was very into the cartoon. My brother and I bought up all the figures for him (many of which broke IN THE CAR ON THE WAY HOME FROM TARGET!). He was bummed when the show was canceled but he's a kid, he'll watch the same thing 50 times a week if you let him. My brother tried to show him the original MOTU cartoon and the kid just kept laughing that "everyone was in their underwear.
Not sure where I'm going with this other than I figured other MOTU collectors would get a laugh out of how hard it is to connect kids with action figures these days.
I did skip the Masterverse versions of He-Man and Skeletor from that show myself, but I wasn't all-in on the line at that point and was trying to limit it to stuff that would look good together on the shelf. The longer this line goes on, the more I just straight up love the New Eternia stuff the most - new but classic, unified and unique.
The New Eternia stuff IS nice, but man, there is just not a good He-Man figure across this whole line, at least to me. People seem to be settling on/for the newer Revolution Battle-Armor He-Man for now, or maybe the 40th Anniversary release, but how hard is it to just do a decent figure of the guy? 🙂
Also, the new Revolution Man-At-Arms in the white and gold armor was available on Target's site for a brief moment yesterday. Was able to get an order in.

What’s your issue with the Revolution Battle Armor He-Man? It think it’s pretty awesome and is my current favorite.

Sorry, I worded that badly. I like it too, I just thought people were "settling" in the sense that it wasn't a "classic" or "New Eternia" type He-Man, but a substitute animated one. I shouldn't have said "across this whole line", my bad.
I definitely agree there hasn't been what has felt like a perfect, definitive He-Man figure in Masterverse. And it mainly boils down to the head sculpts.
There has been some great bodies and great armors, where the aesthetics of the entire figure looks phenomenal. But then, the head sculpt. There are some that are way better than others, but none of them feel perfectly like what you'd expect for He-Man. The head sculpts just don't capture a perfect feel of what you expect from He-Mans face.
You want it to look realistic. Don't get me wrong, the animated head sculpts portraying his looks from cartoons are fine, but I feel a more realistic portrait is what most want from a definitive He-Man head sculpt. He also needs to be in a sense a good looking, almost godly like man. Yet, he needs to look like a barbarian. An epic and fierce warrior.
And nothing so far has just perfectly ever put me at ease like "there it is! the perfect He-Man head sculpt!" I wish Mattel would try to really execute a head sculpt from some of the old artwork back in the 80's. Like Earl Norems art.
