I love how Sy-Klone and Leech look. They’re my favorite reveals. I also like Merman a lot. Gotta have that throne with Skeletor! BA Skeletor and TP He-Man look great too!
Wish they weren't all releasing at once--I like a lot of it but will probably need to do some picking and choosing. Sy-Clone looks like such a cool re-imagining of him, I think he's a must get. Not crazy about Thunder Punch He-Man's expression, but maybe that's just the glamor shot?
It didn't occur to me that we haven't had a New Eternia Mer-Man yet. I actually love the older, one-eyed version of him from Revolution a lot, but New Eternia really is the best of what they're making in this line. Probably hold off on some of the Netflix versions but I can't NOT get green goddess Teela, just a character I'll get every variation of.
I keep telling myself I don't need another Skeletor (or He-Man) but the recent Battle Armor He-Man kinda became my new favorite, so I know I'll regret not getting the Battle Armor Skeletor to go with him, huh.
Anyway. Good stuff! Wish they were a liiiiiittle bit spread out though, but that's okay.
Fuckin' duuuuuuuuuudes.... MOVIE BEAST MAN! I am so, so excited. Almost my entire life I've wanted good, playable figures from the movies and Mattel keeps cranking them out. I'm desperately hoping we're going to get a Blade as well - the Classics one kind of sucks and needs a redo (and doesn't really fit in with the Masterverse figures anyway). Just wish we weren't getting them at a rate of like one per year.
All of the figures revealed actually look very, very good. The stand-outs for me are, besides Beast Man, obviously Skeletor on his throne - that's badass. But I'm also really excited about Leech (one of my favorite baddies), TP He-Man because that's super cool, and Battle Armor Skeletor. But every one of those reveals could easily find its way into my collection because they're all terrific.
I swear if they released the Skeletor throne alone I'd buy it in a New York minute. I'm only hesitating for budget reasons. Cos this is a DELUGE.
Movie Beast Man means I need to step up my search for a moderately priced Langella Skeletor. I missed him but have the others.
What did you all think of the reveals today? I was really happy about all of it. Skeletor and the Throne looks amazing! And I'm so happy we are getting the Motion Picture version of Beast Man.
But Sy-Klone, Mer-Man, Leech, Thunder Punch He-Man, and Battle Armor Skeletor all look great. The weakest for me were the Revolution figures. I will get Snake Sorceress Teela to use as Green Goddess, but I'll probably skip Man O War Man At Arms, and possibly even Emperor Hordak.
I might get Emperor Hordak though to use as a Horde Prime like stand in.

So much stuff all at once to preorder. I'm hesitating on the throne and the movie Beast Man but a looooot of the other stuff went into my cart very vast on BBTS.
Holy shit, $70 USD for that Skeletor? Haha, yeah, OK Mattel 🙄 Oh what's that, colour changing LEDs? Sure. Whatever. Really makes all the other figures an amazing deal at $23. Anyone wanting this can definitely just wait for the inevitable clearance.
Sy-klone, on the other hand, for $23 is a must-have. They're really knocking these designs out of the park with New Eternia. Such a badass take on what is a pretty silly (yet awesome) vintage design. Like, he's entirely made up of primary colours, but they put that battle mask on him, and really played up the armour.
Leech also looks amazing. So much character in that headsculpt.
Thunder Punch He-man's head is definitely off though. Like an 80's doll head with a page boy haircut or something? There's something very 8 year old boy about the shape of everything, or something. Not giving off strongest-man in the universe vibes. Would be nice if they could nail a good 'vanilla' look. The articulated elbow armor looks pretty neat though.

$70 really is nuts for that throne set but I locked in anyway for FOMO. Also ordered Sy-Klone and Leech and Merman for sure.
I'm actually kind of relieved the throne was too expensive for me to justify - I had to talk myself out of it because I struggle mightily to display anything bigger than, say, Battle Cat and I know it won't stay on a shelf long. The Skeletor looks amazing TBH, though.
I currently have a Skeletor sitting on the throne from Marvel Select Mephisto because it's sort of the closest I have to an imposing evil throne - but this will 100% replace it on my shelf. Can't wait.
I only pre-ordered Beast Man because I cannot miss any movie figures. Really like Skeletor with his Throne, but I'm struggling with the price - like many others are. At 23.99 for a regular figure, that means Mattel is valuing the throne set piece at 46 dollars and that seems... wrong.
We've been told a lot that pound-for-pound playsets and stuff are more costly to make than regular figures. I do get that. At the same time, it's a static dio piece. It has comparable paint to a figure. I imagine the assembly is comparable to a figure (lots more assembly for a figure, but probably the electronics make the dio more time consuming so it balances out). So even then... pretty much 2x the cost of a figure? I don't see 2x the cost of a figure in that.
Not saying it's absolutely and horribly egregious. I am saying that this would feel 'right' at about 35 dollars for the throne -- so around 58.99. Minimally, it's priced about 10 dollars higher than it should be. End of the world? Not really. But in this economy, with this many companies making collectible action figures, it kind of feels like you should give customers less reason to complain or nitpick, rather than more.

You can ask but the answer is not very interesting.
I'm 40 years old. I had tons of the vintage toys. It was the first toyline I actually can remember playing with (followed by Turtles and Joes), which is why the vintage line (and therefore Origins) is quite special to me. I really enjoyed the Filmation cartoon as well, but you gotta remember it was already in re-runs by the time I was really sitting down to watch cartoons (born at the end of '83, so I wasn't really watching He-Man cartoons until like late '86). Which means.... the MOTU movie came out literally right at that moment where I was truly discovering a love of He-Man and fantasy/action stuff at all. It is still one of my first strong memories of He-Man as a character. So in a way, Movie He-Man is MY He-Man. That version feels as 'right' and 'original' to me as Filmation does for many people.
I'd say Dolph Lundgren comes to my mind when you say 'He-Man' just as readily as the Filmation page-boy haircut.
Following up on that thought; all I ever wanted as a kid, and even up through my adulthood into today, is proper action figures from MY He-Man. And it's like the one He-Man thing that never really existed. Prior to Super7, we never even had a figure of He-Man himself from the film, let alone the other characters. We got three vintage figures that I didn't even know existed as a kid because I never saw one until I was a teenager. Then nothing until I was in my 30s.
It's only a little hyperbolic to say that actually getting good movie figures is a dream come true.
As for whether the designs 'click' or not... I have no ability to be objective here because of how attached I am to the movie. I would buy a figure of Kevin without a second thought. So maybe the designs are bad? I don't even know.
