@karl_space I like the bearded Battle Armor one more than the one that just released because while the armor is not removable, he's got the torso swivel so he's got really nice range of movement and overall he's a bit more of a grittier look for He-Man, which I find a lot of fun. Definitely not a classic look but he's got a "He-Man having a really rough month" vibe that makes him my favorite of the options.
Anyone who doesn't have Two-Bad in their list of best figures from Masterverse has something wrong with them.Β Β That figure is glorious.Β Β Β I agree that the New Eternia figures have been far and away my favorite and the line has gotten better as it's gone forward.
Β
My favorite figures thus farΒ areΒ Β Two Bad, Buzz Off and 40th He-Man
And then I have a super soft spot for Sorceress Evil Lynn.Β Β I love the Bat motif of that costume.Β I think it looks really great and moves the character away from just a teela repaint.Β Β I wish there was more sculpting on the figure instead of mostly painted costume details and I hate the cheap cloth they use for the capes... but man that head sculpt is a thing of beauty
I passed on Snout Spout.Β I have him in Origins.Β I feel like Masterverse is more Best Of in my mind and don't need to be all-encompassing character-wise.Β Just the heavy hitters.Β Β Maybe if he was available at retail, I would have cracked, but I'm not paying $40 for him.
Two-Bad, Clawful, Buzz-Off, New Eternia Skeletor, New Eternia Trap-Jaw may be the best of Masterverse for me.Β I also really like the 40th and New Eternia Battle Armor He-Mans, Stratos and NE Man At Arms (swappable heads/helmets is an awesome feature) as well.Β Can't really go wrong with any of the NE versions, although Jitsu was a bit lackluster.
Β
@karl_space King Grayskull is a fantastic figure for the price.Β You can find him for less than the price of a regular figure and he comes with a wired cape.Β I don't know if I'd say he's a must-have but I think he's one of the best figures in the line and overall the best value.
My favorites of the line so far are him, 40th He-Man, New Adventures Skeletor, New Eternia Skeletor and NE Beastman
@panthercult Objectively Two-Bad is magnificent. I left him off my top five list because, for completely personal reasons, I find his character design deeply unsettling, like the dog brain part of me is like "RUN, THAT IS DANGEROUS" so he goes further down the list just because he is so awesomely monstrous that he messes with my head.Β Β
On the flip side, I know Stratos isn't the best figure design-wise (he's cool but there's nothing fancy about him), but I just love htat character and getting a version of him in this line that is so fun to pose and display bumps him up cos he makes me happy.Β
(I do love the Sorceress Evil-Lyn, too. Might be my favorite of the female figures.)Β
Anyone judging someone else for what figures SHOULD be on their own favorite list has something wrong with them.
I don't know if I can narrow down to top five. New toy honeymoon might be factoring in for me, but I LOVE the new Trap Jaw. Everything I've wanted in an updated but classic Trap Jaw.
Man At Arms is also excellent, and has only gotten GOOD figures from the entire line so far.
I really like the latest He-Man that can switch from his original harness armor to the battle armor, but I still don't love his head, nor have I really been satisfied with ANY He-Man head in the line. (I do like that first Battle Armor He-Man that's being talked about, everything but the non-fur loincloth. Gotta be fur!)
Two-Bad IS nice, but I'm not sure yet if I think he's in my top five. It could be a draw between him, Clawful, Buzz-Off, all of whom are magnificent updates. Love the ratcheted claws on each.
Man-E-Faces got a big boost from additional faces, but also not on my top five. I actually quite like Ram Man and his alternate looks from swappable heads and armor. Don't think he's top five either though.
OH. Webstor is top five for me. Love the gimmick, love the eyes, love the arms on the backpack. Solid figure.
I really gotta look through the figures and think about it. I think I'm missing some obscure loves, like Vykor.
Two-Bad is great but the boring blue head and all the unpainted marbled plastic keeps him from being as good for me as he is for some others here.Β I might hit the blue head with some shading and then a flat sealant, and paint the marbled silver bits with silver paint (as it looked in the promos) and see how I feel about him.Β I think the sculpt is mostly fantastic but the end result could have been better.Β Obviously a lot of it will depend on how you feel about marbled plastic because he has a lot of it.Β His soft ankles drive me nuts and he sometimes has trouble balancing.Β Compared to say, NA Skeletor, who is all flat matte plastic, which I vastly prefer.
@normdapito I didn't even notice that first Battle Armor He-Man didn't have a fur loincloth til you pointed it out. But you're right, it's truly a part of the look. I cannot stop posing and messing with the new armored version though. I like the bearded head better but I really love the clean-shaven one too.Β Β
The New Eternia Man-at-Arms might be the only figure in this line I bought two of - that's how much I liked the alternate head. I kinda love having a "not Duncan" Man-at-Arms to stand with him on the shelf like a second in command. Absolutely love that figure.Β
I have to break out Man-E-Faces and mess around with him more. I was a little put off by the mechanics of swapping his faces (same as Triclops, I kinda prefer when you can spin them like Origins) but he really is a fantastic figure.Β
All this to say I really kinda fell back in love with this line this past week when I got a few new figures. Their leaps forward in design aren't huge, but the line gets a little better each wave and I really like that. Sent me looking for a decent deal on a few figures I missed (I didn't even realize they made Clamp Champ!) and maybe find a second Teela so I can display both head options.Β
Thanks for the suggestions folks, seeing some of the same figures showing up again and again, so I may have to into the line for some of the highlights. Wish I would have grabbed one of the NE Beast Mans when our WMs up here had them on sale, even with the paint mis-match. I do need a 6/7" He-man and Skeletor for the shelf, and it really seems like the most recent releases are head and shoulders above where the line started. Still can't get over how much character and presence the NE Trap Jaw has, so I'll be chasing that dragon on any future purchase.
Side note - looks like Mattel Creations fixed international shipping earlier this week, as per a post in their forums, and I currently have Snout Spout in my cart and able to be shipped to Canada. Haven't pulled the trigger (too expensive and I've got the Origins version where his derpiness is very charming), but looks like lots of folks who were shut out earlier (eg, Spain), can now purchase again. So, holding out some hope for the future MOTU O releases..
@panthercult Two-Bad really is a great figure (figures?).Β I think they did themselves one better though if the rumour of the Origins version being two figures that can also combine is true.Β That would put the Origins version, for me, over the Masterverse version.
I have a number of early Masterverse figures because, as usual, Canada missed the boat (outside of online retailers).Β After Two-Bad I would say Beast Man and King Grayskull are my two favourites (that I actually have in my collection).Β Which is surprising because I didn't like either of them initially.Β 40th He-Man is pretty good, but let's also not forget Battle Cat!!!!Β A great 6" take on Battle Cat and the perfect version for me right now.Β Β I would also say that the NE Skeletor is pretty great as well.
Oh MOTU why do you vex me so?Β
I think anyone sitting on the fence on Snout Spout is going to later regret it.Β I wasn't too excited for him and only bought to satisfy my sense of completion but in hand he may be my favorite Masterverse figure.Β I never was too fond of the character but the trunk with multiple points of articulation, the eyes lighting up from the light piping, the moving dial on his belt, and the water blast just make this guy special.
Plus I needed someone to better fight the fires of Snake Mountain's lava pits.
Β My two absolute favorite figures in the entire Masterverse line are New Eternia Faker and New Eternia Webstor. The colors, the look of them, the fact that they are what you'd expect from an interpretation of the 2 characters yet still being different than any toy version of them let out before.Β I love them both.
That being said, I don't know if they are must haves for someone trying to just get a main, core group for their collection.Β But they are two of the best MOTU figures ever (in my opinion)
OH.Β And also, I got Snout Spout in the mail!Β That was fast!
Comparison time? I love how much bigger Masterverse Snout Spout is than the Classics one.
Β
I gotta agree about Faker, supercamel. Iβm not fond of the character, but I love that figure. I swapped on the orange armor from Revelations Faker, and I think heβs perfect that way. Though the magenta armor also looked really sharp on him.
Well I was informed that Snout Spout does ship to Canada.Β
So I tried again, and still got the "Shop Pay does not ship to your country" message.
However I tried something different again and it worked!!!!!
I was used to going to the MC site and it would automatically redirect me to the Canadian page.Β However I realized it wasn't doing this anymore so I switched it manually and that seems to have cleared things up and now it works to ship to Canada!!!
Hooray (for now).Β Let's hope it is all sorted with the upcoming Origins releases.Β
Now about Walmart Canada not getting the MOTU exclusives for Collector Con......... 😀
Oh and I didn't actually order Snout Spout because I already blew my monthly budget on the RID Prime Haslab, Classified VAMP and select clearance items locally.Β So if he is still available come April I'll probably bite.
