@supercamel-1982 completely forgot about that deluxe Horde Trooper. Now I am angry all over again at an army builder being deluxe. Hopefully Masterverse is okay and still going strong though and they show those rumored figures soon.
Yeah... the Horde Trooper as a deluxe was such a cynical F-U move by Mattel in the first place, made worse now by the fact that Masterverse doesn't seem to be widely supported at retail going forward. If they make it Mattel.Creations exclusive it will be an even bigger kick in the nethers.
If the Horde Trooper were a normal release I would (try to) army build like crazy. As a deluxe I'm not committing to that - unless it ended up like Deluxe King Greyskull, I could army build at clearance prices for sure.
I donno, every deluxe Masterverse figure I can think of in the past couple of years has gone on discount at Target. Ram Man, Clawful, Man At Arms, Beast Man, Whiplash, King Grayskull, Faker, all have gone to clearance. If Target is carrying that Horde Trooper, I would predict the same. I think the deluxe figures tend to get stocked more than regular singles too. They hang around forever. If they made an army builder Creations exclusive, agreed, that would be a kick in the gonads.
I think most of the deluxe Masterverse figures have gotten marked down quite a bit at retail. And since they ship in solid cases, I think they end up being more plentiful that regular figures.
Yeah... but the fact that the Horde Trooper hasn't been officially solicited suggests to me that it may be caught in the aftermath of that retail bloodbath for the Deluxe figures. Since every previous Deluxe ended up hitting clearance the stores probably reevaluated how much they are investing in those deluxe offerings - so it could be that the Horde Trooper either gets under ordered at retail or passed on altogether by the big box stores.
Maybe not, maybe I'm just being paranoid ...
Yeah, I honestly really wonder how Masterverse is doing. I rarely see it at retail anymore, it has been clearanced out at my nearest Wal-Mart, I see Masterverse figures on clearance at Wal-Mart, Ollies, etc., and then recently all the Masterverse figures showing up at 5 below for $5 like Man E Faces, Sorceress etc, I just don't know how well it's doing. But it feels like not well. But then again, right now the toy/action figure market all around isn't doing great.
Thats why I pre order everything online for Masterverse and Origins. if I didn't, I don't think I'd have much of a collection at all.
The latest few rounds of figures are holding pretty steady online - I know because I've been waiting for a discount to buy them! MAA, Trap Jaw, Tri-klops, Buzz-Off, Faker, Webstor... I've only seen those figures at MSRP or higher. Did these ever make it to retail or have they been online exclusives? That would explain the prices holding steady.
Online only I think. At least for now. I haven't seen any reports of finding them in stores yet.
It looks like Toy Habits is about to break some more Masterverse news so maybe the line isn't dying.

Something went weird with the Buzz-Off/Faker wave because most of them seemed to turn up at discount stores (US and Canada) and Amazon never officially had Faker in stock for MSRP afaik. Webstor was gone quick, too, but he was at least available. It's a shame the distribution is so bad, I really wanted them. Kind of turned me off from collecting masterverse. My Target had literally 50+ Man-E-Faces that weren't selling for $6 but I can't find even a single Faker for MSRP? Lame.
If you can find Buzz-Off or Webstor or Faker for regular retail price, I'd recommend moving on them. They seem to be pretty difficult to find otherwise, and are each excellent figures.
I'm not worried YET about Masterverse at retail. They seem to be available at Best Buy now too, besides Target and Walmart. Old waves and deluxes have gone to clearance, then a new wave hits for regular price. Then that wave goes to clearance, and a new wave replaces it. I'd say, if you're concerned about the future of the line, stop waiting til the figures get deeply discounted and support it at full price.
So, it looks like Masterverse Snout Spout is a Mattel Creations Exclusive going up for pre order on March 12 at 9:00 AM PT/12:00PM ET
I'm getting a little tired of all the Mattel Creations stuff. But it is what it is. I definitely want this figure. It was my most anticipated MOTU figure of 2024 thus far. When Snout Spout was shown last year, I was psyched.
Snout Spout does look good - but as a Mattel Creations exclusive it's going to be $27 or something so after tax and shipping it's going to be close to $40 for one figure. At least I wish they would sell more than one item at a time so the shipping could be combined and reduce the sting even a little.
Saying Walmart carries Masterverse is generous. My local stores still only have Moss Man and Evil-Lyn, figures that came out three years ago.
Jeeze, I was planning to buy the next release of Mattel Creations WWE two packs. That one looks to be scheduled on 3/14. They've been charging $7 per order. I'll make multiple orders, besides, I'm not sure how they would handle a shipment if the items have different release dates.
So, it sounds like in the Masterverse Line we are also getting New Eternia Mer-Man, Sy-Klone, Battle Armor Skeletor, and Thunder Punch He-Man. As well as Revolution Snake Goddess Teela and Man At Arms/Duncan in his white armor.
