Anyone know where I can get Webstor & Buzz-Off for MSRP? Never saw them in person, and BBTS is sold out & Amazon is expensive. 🙁

I definitely loved Revolution, but I also liked Revelation. I've been cherry-picking this line, but most of the figures are absolutely amazing. I haven't really found the He-Man that I love, but I think the armored He-Man will be my go-to default.

From the show, I definitely want:

Keldor

Flashback Hordak

Final Teela & green Teela

Final Evil-Lyn

Final He-Man - I love what they did there

Leech

Man-at-Arms

Hordak troopers

Shining endorsement from @he-man himself! Another show to put on the list. (The list consists of shows I say I will watch but will never get around to watching)

Haha! I probably should have chosen a different username, but my cleverness has dwindled in my old age! But yeah, definitely worth a watch. Then we can all argue minutiae as is our right! 🤣

What I want more than anything for the Masterverse line is a 200X version of Evil-Lyn.

After watching Revolution I'd like...

  • Evil-Lyn
  • All versions of Teela
  • Hordak
  • Final Battle He-Man

Movie-Lyn arrived today. She's super great. I wish they'd stop doing stupid things with the softgoods, though. For a while they were tagging it with those plastic tabs through the tray, which leaves tiny holes that can eventually open up. With Lyn they taped the cape down but now it has a sticky spot on it. Like.. why is any of this necessary?

Otherwise she's really fun. Or looks good, I should say. I don't know how much fun she is. Legs are very limited by the rubbery half-skirt. I think the face looks decent enough. Very much appreciate the inclusion of spare 'open/conniving/enraged' hands if you don't want her with gripping hands (because why would you want her with gripping hands?). The hologram version of the Cosmic Key is nifty but I don't see myself ever using it.

In terms of the colors and stuff, she really does pop very nicely on the shelf beside Skeletor. Haven't really added a Masterverse figure to the collection since Vykron, so it was just cool to get a new one. Having her makes me REALLY hope they continue and give us most of the main cast. This line needs a proper movie Gwildor, Beast Man, and Blade at the very least, as well as a God Skeletor and yes, I'm gonna say it, a final battle He-Man.
But I also wouldn't mind Saurod, Karg, Skeletor's Storm Troopers, Teela, and Duncan. Hell, if they give us ALL of those, I'd even take Julie, Lubic, and Kevin. Although I don't ever expect it to get that far, to be honest.

@normdapito To add another voice to the discussion; it's entertainment media. If you're reasonably intelligent, you can basically start anywhere and understand enough of what's going on to get some enjoyment out of it. However, Revelation is what sets up basically all the events of Revolution as well as what character arcs there are (such as with Evil-Lyn). So you'll definitely be depriving yourself of some of the punch of those moments if you haven't really invested in this specific version of these characters and events.

You'll be able to enjoy He-Man punching Skeletor no matter what the context. But there's a lot of other things that will just not be interesting to you specifically because it's a pay-off to something you aren't familiar with, even if you're able to recognize that it IS paying off something from before. Hell, Teela's ENTIRE arc in Revolution is based on what happens at the end of Revelation. But it's not exactly complex and once you understand what it is she's doing, it's just like 'oh okay' - it's a sentence of context and you're caught up.

Is Revelation absolutely necessary? No. Whatever. It's He-Man. You already get it. Is it going to enhance your enjoyment and the flow of Revolution for you? Of course. It's a direct sequel to the events of Revelation.

I think basically anything He-Man related is something every He-Man fan should watch and decide for themselves because MOTU fans are like... famously disunited about everything. The fandom can't even decide if Cringer being able to speak is hilarious, cute, doesn't matter, or is the actual worst thing that could happen to humanity. There are people that hate Filmation. There are MOTU fans that have never read the original mini-comics. There's fans that think the only good MOTU is 200x while others hate 200x. There's LOTS of people that hate anything about He-Man that isn't a white power superman fantasy, etc etc. As was mentioned - look how a certain segment of the (super misogynistic) fanbase reacted to Teela getting a haircut. A fucking haircut.

So it's hard to take any review of either show as objective or even fair and balanced. I would say most of the really negative reviews amount to 'too much girl... girl bad.. where big strong naked man?! WHERE?!'  So there's that. But there's still plenty of what I'd consider legitimate criticism.

The entire show, including Revolution, is probably a little half-baked, right? They're cramming a lot of story into less than 10 hours of content. This isn't high art here. It's a He-Man cartoon. Go into it from that perspective and I think you'll enjoy the whole thing start to finish. You may not LOVE it. But I'd say you'll probably have a pretty good time.

I’m only a couple episodes into Revolution, but I immediately ordered Skeletek.

I just finished watching Revelations with my daughters over the weekend. I’d definitely recommend it. Thrilling stories. Surprisingly super dark at times. I’m still legitimately sad about a few things.  But it’s very exciting story telling that really shakes things up.

And I love the action. In particular, I am impressed by the portrayal of Skeletor’s magical abilities. Just a really cool representation of magic in combat.

Really enjoyed your post. A few thoughts....

The haircut was controversial because it suggested that the typically "femme" Teela was going lesbian, and that, coupled with the butch costume and new female friend was going to throw people for a loop. I think they knew that too and wanted to shock a bit. Sadly, female characters in animation are always designed hyper sexy, so taking a step away from that is going to seem more drastic than it should.

Also, I don't think the new look suited Teela, given how symmetrical and polished/sexy her original outfit had always been. It felt out of character for that to be her "I'm angry with everyone, flying solo now" look.

But of course, it's just a visual design choice and Teela was still hetero so it didn't really matter much in the end. But considering how some in the fandom hate Prince Adam over wearing pink and seeming homosexual, it's no surprise there was a big reaction to Teela, who also dominated the first few episodes at the expense of the lead character everyone was excited to see again.

I disliked the redesign but am not misogynistic or homophobic. Others disliked it and were misogynistic and homophobic.

Not saying you're saying this, but criticism can still be valid even if some are up in arms due to bigoted reasoning.

I'm eager to get movie Lyn, to round out my movie collection. Does she look okay with the Super7 versions of the characters?

And yes, Revelation was extremely half-baked. Good way to phrase it.

I didn’t like Teela’s overall Revelations design because it looked boring asf. She looked like a background npc in some jrpg. It didn’t need to be sexy, but at least make it look cool. Maybe more armor?  The hair style bugged me because I’m my mind, Teela, as a warrior, is one of the most practical characters in MOTU. That one real long bang she had over her one eye looked like a blind spot was being created and just there to look “edgy”. I had no problems with the side shaved head, but at least tie your bang back. Look how Andra had her long hair tied back in Revelations. That made sense because she could see better. Yeah I know it’s a minor nitpick fora fantasy story but whatever. Probably will open up a can of worms with that comment. Lol.

Haven't finished the toon yet but someone posted online pictures of the Council of Cosmic Enforcers or whatever and man oh man am I going to need a bunch of those.

There's one with black Zodac armor,  one with Zodak tatoos but with purple skin and green Enforcer armor, one with regular red armor but crazy long hair and beard;   caucasion enforcer with the blue Zodak tattoos,  Enforcer with orange helmet and cape (and presumably orange armor underneath;  one with purple helmet and armor... and then what looks like Lyn and a blue enforcer helmet.

So yeah...  Mattel could keep cranking those guys out in various colors and I'd be signing up for all of them.   And getting a female enforcer armor would be fantastic.

@disneyboy Good thoughts! (There's a Revolution spoiler thread in the TV section, by the way.)

Really, you're not wrong. But ultimately, all those 'it's not girly enough' and 'it's too butch' arguments -are- just complete misogyny and homophobia, right? That's what a good chunk of the complaining boiled down to; a bunch of incels complaining that if Teela were real she might not want to fuck them. And that's just... so damn weird. Even if Teela had turned out to be gay/bi, if it's -written well- then it shouldn't matter unless someone is a bigot.
And ultimately, we do have to face up to the fact that there's a lot of misogyny and bigotry in nerd spaces, very much including MOTU.

Without trying to insult anyone, I do think it's important that we all examine our own opinions from time to time and see where they come from. Because we are probably all guilty at various points of having opinions rooted in something very negative like bigotry. That's normal. It's human. Doesn't mean we can't try to do better and recognize when that's happening.

I'm on record as actually HATING the 'angry Teela' look. Not so much the hair, which I didn't care about, but I absolutely hated her costume. HATED it. Hated Andra's costume too (the first one, not the MAA costume). Both costumes looked too busy, too modern, and not 'MOTU' enough for me. I could go into a LOT of detail, that none of you want to read, on every bit of that. I won't, though. Point is, I get it. I didn't like the way she looked either, so I definitely know that it doesn't always come from a bigoted place. But a lot of it did. The overwhelming majority of the negativity came from a bigoted place and many people didn't even try to hide it.

Even the complaints about Teela being too much of a focus on the He-Man show, unironically spewed from the frothing mouths of people that say 200x is the best He-Man cartoon: famously the cartoon that spent a lot of its runtime focusing on all of He-Man's companions and far less time on He-Man himself. But I'm sure THAT'S okay... because most of He-Man's companions are guys. Right?

To answer your question about Lyn; I doubt it. I don't have any MOTUC on display right now to compare, but Lyn is almost exactly 7" tall and just a hair shorter than Masterverse Movie He-Man and Skeletor. I think that would make her very tall compared to the S7 figures. For a comparison I do have easy access to - Origins Cartoon Collection He-Man is, if I recall, very close in height to MOTUC, and Lyn is more than half-a-head taller than him.

@leor  If it makes you feel any better about Teela; He-Man is the quintessential warrior of Eternia and spends the entire show with his bangs in his eyes.

Lol. Yeah, HeMan need to get a trim for sure.  Although I’m my defense, I barely noticed it because it seems like it barely covers the top of his eyelids in some shots.

VERY well said, and I agree with you 100%. More than anything, all the loud whining online about Revelation made it seem like the show was a flop....but Netflix streaming data says otherwise...proving to me that the loudest voices rarely represent most fans. I personally loved both Revelation and Revolution. Neither of them are perfect, but I found them to be a good balance of elements from the original cartoon, the 200x series, the movie, and the minicomics.

I'll NEVER understand how, in Geek Culture, there is so much misogyny, homophobia, and racism. I mean, those views are directly antithetical to what most of these stories are about! I'm especially baffled when these manbabies complain about something like Star Trek going "woke". Ummmm...did you ever watch anything Trek before? If you did, then you definitely missed the point. Hell, Spock championed the Vulcan philosophy of Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations back in the original series! Same goes for He-Man...did NONE of these people watch the lessons at the end of the episode? Sheesh!

Anyone know where I can get Webstor & Buzz-Off for MSRP? Never saw them in person, and BBTS is sold out & Amazon is expensive. 🙁

If you find out, please let me know! I've never seen either in stores. Distribution is SO weird for these! Ram Man, Clawful & Whiplash were clogging pegs here, but I never saw any of the wave with Faker, Buzz Off or Webstor in brick-and-mortar. I thought about buying them from BBTS, but most of the time Masterverse is plentiful and even gets discounted. Heck, I got RM, Clawful & Whiplash all for under $10 a piece at Target!

I have Webstor on pre-order at Forbidden Planet in the UK supposedly dropping on the 14th Feb- and Amazon.EU had it on pre-order for June/July. Doubt either will get fulfilled- I still have a Hordak pre-order from a reputable UK supplier! Apparently Mattel are just horrendous for distribution- I genuinely have no idea how they manage to screw it up.

I'm trying to get hold of the Man At Arms Deluxe revelation figure, but that dropped at one UK site and sold out instantly and has never been heard of again. The New Adventures figures are also just impossible find. Its like they are going out of their way to screw up distribution- it has to be deliberate, right? Like I imagine whoever is in charge is desperately trying to get fired like George Costanza, coming up with the most ludicrously incompetent plans and somehow the company finds a way to be happy with it.
