1. Continue to fill holes in the Marvel Legends collection with a renewal looming. Won't belabor characters needed as we do that enough and all disagree.
2. NECA: to flesh out a few last remaining Hammer Horror characters, Olvier Reed's Werewolf; their Frankenstein etc. Maybe a bride of Dracula for something different.
3. NECA part 2: Make a few more Pee Wee's Playhouse characters to go with their forthcoming Pee Wee 7".
4. NECA part 3: Dare I say it if they can make Palisade like additions to the Sesame Street / Muppets line could they do that again for Rankin & Bass. Dear god where would I get the space / cash.
5. NECA part 4: What We Do in the Shadows 7" figures in their Universal / Hammer style. Not really all that many characters needed. 7 or 8 figures would do it.
6. Jada toys: Expand their food / cereal mascots. Kips/Shoneys/Bobs Big Boy, Hostess characters, more cereal characters.
7. Classic / Alternative comics. I love my shelf with characters from classic and alternative comics. Jim Woodring, Chris Ware and Daniel Clowes characters along with mid 20th century classic comic characters. They are few and far between though. Certainly someone could make a good Maggie and Hopey from Love and Rockets, and more (semi)affordable Jim Woodring toys. I love the old Palisades Popeye toys (and like the new ones though I think they are a litte too large) Would love classic versions of Jack Davis' Crypt Keeper, Johnny Craig's Vault Keeper, John Stanley's Little Lulu & Tubby, Bushmiller's Nancy & Sluggo, Herriman's Krazy Kat and Ignatz. Don't AT me ... I know these are all very unlikely. There's STILL never been a good Looney Tunes line. It seems sad to say the current Super 7 Reaction Peanuts line is probably the best Peanuts line.
8. McFarlane goes bankrupt. Someone comes in to do more 6" DC comic characters.
Oh, and they should make a good Bespin Luke, we're way overdue for a decent one.
I will run naked through an on-fire pane of glass for a good Bespin Luke.
For the love of God, someone get this person a quality Bespin Luke!! No one wants to see that. 🤣
1) Fill in the gaps in my older collections (SOTA Street Fighter, AA OS Star Trek, Palisades Muppets etc)
2) while I don’t wish them ill, I’m not a fan of Macfarlane. I do wish someone would acquire the license and resume 6” DC figures.
3) aquire some Classified vehicles at prices I can afford. (Dare to dream, right?)
4) a quality 1:12 scale line of Firefly/Serenity figures that will go the distance, giving us more than just the main crew. Maybe even some ship interior dioramas. (as long as we’re dreaming, let’s dream big)
5) a quality line of 1:12 scale, well articulated Babylon 5 / Crusade figures.
6) a quality line of 1:12 scale, well articulated Farscape figures.
7) Ultraverse Legends!!!!!!!!!!!
Yikes. All this talk of scaling back is making we question my life choices. Hiwndo you all actually sell stuff? The prospect feels like job... where you lose money.
@chooch555 You do lose money. You've already lost money if its in your house. You lose less money.
That's fair. I meant more like if I took a second job at the gas station I'd bring home more per hour. Really, it's the work of it that seems daunting. Probably because I haven't done it before.
Isn't that hard. Have about 25 - 40 things listed at all times. Price to sell. Wrap loose figs in bubble wrap. Horde Amazon bubble wrap. You are probably right you could make more if you got a second job but this delays these things going to landfill a bit and you can work in 15 min bursts; not 8 hour shifts.
I also need to scale back. Which, I have done some already in 2024. But I need to continue by not buying as much, and I need to get rid of some things I already have.
Nothing major, I just need to fine tune a bit better on what I get and what I keep.
As far as wants
1.) I want Mattel to finish the remaining characters from the vintage MOTU collection in the Masters of the Universe Origins line. Stop dicking around and dragging this out Mattel. Finish it. We are getting Rio Blast in January, thats a good start. Keep it going.
2.) I would love for Hasbro to make the Wrecking Crew again, just updated and better in the Marvel Legends line. I also want Mephisto for Marvel Legends. We just got that awesome Blackheart Build A Figure, now we need Mephisto.
And as always, X-Men. Any and all of them.
3.) I want to make up my mind on DC Multiverse by McFarlane. A line I have started and stopped so many times. Do I stop, or do I keep buying? If I keep buying, can I cherry pick, or will my obsessive nature make me buy damn near all the comic related figures, even if I don't need or want some?
I have so many DC figures from so many companies. Do I really need more? The McFarlane figures are pretty good though. They look really nice. But I need to just be at peace with a decision.
I have the Mattel DCUC's collection. Complete. So, that's a pretty big collection that covers everyone. But the McFarlane figures are a bit bigger, a bit sturdier and nicer quality, and some DCUC's have that tendency to have that white film on them, or even have colors dull or fade over time.
And who knows, maybe McFarlane Multiverse figures will too. Point is, I have hundreds of DC figures. I will always keep my DC Classics, but do I sell some of the other stuff and get McFarlane, or do I just stop now?
I have a pretty decent assortment of McFarlane figures. So, I could quit now. But I haven't yet.
Something else that bothers me about McFarlane is how difficult it can be to get some stuff. All the Platinums, and store exclusives, and online e-tailer exclusives, and quick pre order sell outs. It's frustrating just to try and enjoy this line.
2025. I want to make peace with this line. One way or another. For my mental sanity.
Great thread.
My big hope/dream for 2025 is to actually sell the things I set aside to get rid of. I've already done a ton of scaling back on what I buy, and I've already done the purge of my collection. But a good chunk of the purged stuff is still in various boxes/totes in my home because actually doing the work to get rid of it was just never high enough on my priority list. My schedule is pretty full as it is and I don't really love spending any of my free time on tedious shit.
That being said... all the stuff I need to get rid of is living rent free in my head as much as in my house, and I need to buckle down and actually get it gone way more for my mental health than for any money I might make on it.
I don't really have a lot of realistic hopes/dreams for figure releases in the coming year. I'm going to continue to work really hard to not go overboard on purchases and keep the collection fairly tight and full of things I genuinely like owning. Which means significant effort goes into not team/world-building, which I tend to be a sucker for if given half a chance.
I'd be extremely happy if this is finally the year for Shatterstar v2 and Kylun in Marvel Legends. And that new Punisher body in classic colors -- although you've gotta think that last one is almost a certainty sooner than later. And an all new Coipel/Return Thor. I'd also love to see a Super7 Ultimates Heavy Metal Raph make it out in 2025, although that seems exceedingly unlikely. As already mentioned - a proper Bespin Luke from Black Series would be amazing, as would a proper Hoth Luke. That in mind, I'd be pretty happy to see redos of ANH Han, Chewie, Threepio, and Ben. And I'd much appreciate another crack at Vader with good butterfly joints, good wrist articulation, and a cape that CAN'T act as survival tent for a family of four.
A reissue of the original Casey from TMNT Cartoon Collection would be great as an ultimate - like Shredder is getting (granted, Shredder is an all new figure and not a re-issue - but still). Also would absolutely love for Hasbro to put out an ARAH-accurate Ninja Force Storm Shadow.
Besides that, a lot of what I would like to see (that's actually realistic) is already announced/expected. One of my few out there wishes, that COULD theoretically happen, is Jada announcing Mortal Kombat 1:12. Most of my other wish-list stuff has been gone over to death and I just think at this point a lot of it is a lost cause. And maybe that's for the best because I seriously need to tone down my action figure collecting. It's not even my most expensive hobby, but it's certainly trying to be.

Unless it's out of your house you haven't done a purge, you've sorted. Yep, I have a box of stuff that's been ready to go for about two months now and I have to get it gone. If you want it done quickly and are less worried about the money you make, I recommend taking it all to a reseller. That's what I do. I'm lucky to have a LCS run by some good folks. They are going to price it so that they make money, but they won't screw me. And if you go that rout, take the time to sort the figures with their accessories into baggies. Then the reseller doesn't have to use man hours doing it. You feel good once it's all gone and you have a check to deposit.
My number of sales peaked at 950 in '22. Selling nearly every item individually felt like a part time job but also somewhat satisfying. Last year I was around 550 items, this year I'm way down to 101. I'm at the point where it's not worth the effort, one of my last sales this year was a lot of eight hasbro fortnite figures for $25.
Like a lot of you, 2025 looks like a cutting back year. I've averaged about 52ish figures a year for the past couple of years, including two-packs and 4-packs in the count. 2024 I picked up 43 figures, so a decrease of 10.
I don't have too many pre-orders open for 2025, maybe 3 or 4. I'm hoping to keep pickups to 20 figures or less, and maybe sell more than I pickup.
I cherry pick all lines I collect to a degree, and I'm "filling out the corners" so to say for most of the major lines. It's a good feeling.
I'd love a SHF style Doctor Who. I'd like to see what happens with SHF's LoTR line, and might start collecting them if the reviews are good. Hell yes for a SHF Bespin Luke, and Grievous. Probably my biggest hope for 2025 is that Bandai starts putting out more Star Wars releases based on the movies, and not just the D+ series.
Another hope and dream for 2025 is that the Mythic Legions dragon is affordable! It's going to be a likely price-pass for me, but I'd be really excited if I could add it to the collection.
For me, just continue buying awesome, cool, badazz figures that appeal to me. It's good to have a "hobby" its healthy for the mind., that's been confirmed by a professional. Back when Covid hit, i almost decided too quit but didnt. I am always scaling back, i have too many figures and dont have fucking space, I'm a veteran eBay seller so its easy for me to sell off figures. One of my (action figure) dreams did become reality, i wanted a 6 inch GI Joe line and now we have Classifieds line, you can ALL thank me cause probably Hasbro saw my post acouple of yrs back and since it was from me, NightWolf, they got to work...
Fun fact: its gonna be 9 years of (consistent) Collecting for me, sheesh, time flies.
My only dream, and it's a long-shot by a mile, and it's the same toy dream I've wanted for six years, is that Mattel revisits the She-Ra series of 1/6 dolls:
They made a SDCC 2016 She-Ra (my display pic), a Power-Con Starburst She-Ra exclusive, and then the line died because the Netflix dolls came out. These dolls pose like action figures and are DE-LUXE. Need that Catra, need that Netossa, need that Glimmer, etc. There's a He-Man as well floating out there somewhere. A million arguments broke out online over the art direction of the Netflix She-Ra cartoon but this doll line was the real casualty of the redesign.
Most of this is going to be wishlisting, but:
1. A lot of my figure collecting has been geared towards building my own weird continuity display, which is a mashup of a lot of my own genre hyperfixations. I definitely need more time for things like painting and diorama constructing.
2. Mattel WWE: Giulia and a Legends deal with Bull Nakano
3. Jazwares AEW: Mina Shirakawa. No idea if she's even possible.
4. McFarlane DC: literally anyone on my wishlist. Lady Shiva would be the biggest one.
5. Jakks Simpsons: Summer of 4 Ft. 2 Lisa
6. NECA: They don't do a ton that's really in my wheelhouse anymore. Wish that Shaw Brothers line was at all viable. Would love if they'd make Ryan Gosling in Drive, which might stand half a chance at retail. And is that Mego-scale Jaws ever coming out?
7. Marvel Legends: More martial arts characters.
8. Jada Toys: You just keep doing your thing, man. (But if I'm dreaming: make a Stardom line. Or Sakura Wars. Or if I'm dreaming more realistically, Tekken or Yakuza/Like a Dragon.)
Only two:
For NECA's Gargoyles line to continue. That we see the release of Coldstone, Macbeth, and Gabriel. That we see new figures like Armored Thailog, Owen Burnett, Coldfire, Fox, Griff, Jackal, Hyena, Wolf, the Weird Sisters, Katana, Gnash, Fu-Dog, and TimeDancer Brooklyn.
And for someone to get the Babylon 5 license and put out great action figures of those characters and aliens.
