Some of my favorite releases were part of larger ones or included multiple figures (Mezco Fantastic Four, Storm Liu Kang & Dragon) so I did not include them.

  1. FuRay Planet Blade Master Weng
  2. NECA TMNT Mirage Splinter
  3. Figura Obscura Sun Wukong Monkey King
  4. FuRay Planet Veteran William
  5. Mattel Ultimate Muhammad Ali
  6. Animal Warriors of the Kingdom Thane
  7. Marvel Legends MCU Spider-Man +
    • No Way Home Final Swing Spidey
    • Amazing Spidey
  8. Filix Toys The Clown
  9. Cosmic Legions Highwarden Slogg
  10. NECA Ultimate Alf

FuRay Planet is killing it. The Mirage Splinter jumped a few spots due to it also coming with another whole display of the young rat and turtles with the ooze.

I don't really have a list, but I know what my figure of the year is and not much was that close to dethroning it. I do need to add the caveat that the SHF Legendary Super Saiyan Son Goku is sitting in my Pile of Loot right now and I think that at least has a chance to get into the conversation. I also only considered 1:12 or 1:10 scale. If I included 1:6, the Mondo X-Men figures would be right there.

Anyway, my pic for best of 2023 is the Mezco One:12 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Green Ranger. I'm not a Mezco guy and I really do not like the majority of the stuff they make, but I think what they do well is a great fit for MMPR. The soft goods do limit the articulation a bit more than I would like, but not enough to ruin the experience. The figure looks great and comes with everything it needs to and then some. If I were a more diehard MMPR fan, I'd absolutely be in on the other Rangers because this is going to be the best assortment of them when all is said and done. Of course, it should be since the cost is pretty substantial compared to the competition.

My honorable mentions (in no order), though none really came close to knocking Tommy off the mountain:

  • SHF Dragon Ball Super Super Hero Orange Piccolo
  • Figura Obscura Jacob Marley
  • NECA TMNT Mirage 4-Pack
  • NECA TMNT Last Ronin Synja Patrol Bot
  • Super7 The Worst Ultimate Robot Reaper

I’m curious what everyone else’s definition of “the year” is when deciding what figures qualify for their top 10’s

I like “a figure I obtained in hand between January 1st and December 31st, regardless of when other collectors got their’s”

but is there anyone who feels like Jada Ken will be off the table if they don’t find him by next Sunday since he was “released” in 2023 or back track when you get a Big Bad order in early January and decide “well I paid for them in November so…”?

@doc-baghead In past years, I think it's pretty loose in terms of what people put on their list. Some people stick to just figures that were released within the year, others include figures that they purchased within the years, regardless of their release. Do what you want. It's your list.

I'm going there too, in fact, I'm doubling down!

In no particular order:

ML Avengers 60th Black Widow

ML Blob

NECA animated April O'Neil

Super Mario movie Bowser (he vapes!)

McFarlane Toys Super Powers Invisible Jet

McFarlane Toys Storm (the big seahorse from Aquaman 2)

McFarlane toys Batman and Robin BAF Mr. Freeze wave (the whole wave)

Jada Street Fighter (all three)

GI Joe Steel Brigade female

MOTU Classics King Randor

Honorable mention:  Lightning Collection Remastered figures.  They look beautiful when the team is complete and they're displayed together.  Not on the list just for the fact that they're upgrades to something I was not dying to upgrade, still happy to have them.

Vintage pick up of the year:  MASK Hurricane.  Slowly building my MASK collection back and this one was a childhood favorite.

I would love to get this guy but after I bought my Remastered figures I did a massive downsizing of my PR stuff.  I'm very happy with where the collection is at.  This would be a new rabbit hole.

Ugh, the MASK Hurricane was among my most coveted as a kid. I’ve been eyeing it as an adult as well. Just one of the most beautiful pieces from that entire line.

Getting rid of mine was a boneheaded move.  Growing up, my dad's multi-year project that lasted through pretty much the duration of my childhood was building a 56 Chevy from a bare bones frame.  I know the Hurricane is supposed to be a 57, but close enough.  Finding one complete in decent shape takes some patience but they'll pop up every so often.  I also rebought the MASK Raven in 2023, and that piece is a close second.

@yojoebro82 I have the original Lightning Collection figures and they're fine for me, a very casual MMPR fan. Thoroughly mediocre as action figures, but not so bad that I want to essentially replace each one with a hundred dollar version. One kick ass Green Ranger is all I really need.

Yeah, if you're a casual fan and have the original LC releases, I can't recommend you go out and spend any more money.  There were some inaccuracies that will bug hardcore fans, but otherwise they were fine.

I didn't realize it until right this minute, but what a year. When I got him, I thought Astonishing Cyclops was a lock for my top 5. He didn't even make the top 10. Each of my top 7 figures could conceivably be #1 in a weaker year.

  1. MAFEX Magneto
  2. MAFEX Terminator 2 T-800
  3. Marvel Legends Black Widow (super articulated)
  4. NOTTAA Collections Ronin Nura
  5. Mezco One:12 Collective Constantine
  6. MAFEX Nightwing
  7. Marvel Legends Daredevil (three-pack)
  8. MAFEX Storm
  9. MAFEX Uncanny X-Force Wolverine
  10. Marvel Select Apocalypse
