I'm glad to see that there were more announced.
Not that I am aware of. Maybe production? We like to ship a wave before soliciting a new one. Series 2 will be offered late August.
Any news on color versions?
Pics and preorders for the McFarlane figures are up at EE and BBTS. I hope you like 20 year old articulation schemes.
I mean, I like the new packaging for the McF figures. Just trying to find the silver lining. I suppose I could commend him for not re-releasing figures from the first couple waves that were basically statues themselves too. I do hope they sell well enough to get us another wave, but part of me worries that might just be straight re-releases too. It kinda feels like what he's doing with the old BTAS/TNBA figures- just re-releasing them for folks who missed them before. At least the BTAS figures have the BAF element to them. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's not making me buy 4 figures I already have multiple of just to get one new one, but still. After what happened with Todd's Game of Thrones and Harry Potter licenses, I'm not holding my breath on new figures until they're in my hands.
Negan and these new zombies look cool
They all look great. I love the interchangeable parts on the zombie . I preordered 2 at BBTS. That Negan might also work for a custom Ghost Rider figure I've been thinking about.
Series 1 is in both our webstore warehouse AND our retailer warehouse, so it should hit stores Sept 11th and ship out from our website soon!
Toy Shiz posted a review of the DST figures. Gotta admit they look really nice, even though they have all the articulation issues I expected from DST.
I saw the new McFarlance Rick Grimes rerelease at 2nd and Charles yesterday. He actually looked good, though I passed because I still have all of my old characters. I might grab Daryl, and want any characters I did not get a decade ago.
Looks like McFarlane announced wave 2 of the Walking Dead line, and it's a re-release of the Governor, Glenn, Andrea, and Tyreese. Guess that dashes any hopes of having any new figures for the line, at least for the foreseeable future. I'm still seeing tons of wave 1 at my LCS; personally, I still have all my old figures, so I don't have any need for re-releases. Can't necessarily see this boding well for the longevity of the line, especially since Todd hasn't even re-released a Walker in either wave.
Looks like there's a Sheriff Rick being released in the larger statue line, though, so that might excite some folks.
@joshsquash729 looks like they are also re-releasing a 4-pack of Walkers...but also just repaints.
I was hoping that Wave 1 was intended as a "nostalgia wave"; and that McF intended to release at least 1 new character/figure per wave from Wave 2 onward...but this is just a mystery. No idea what they think will happen here aside from running the license further into the ground.
At the very least they could've gone for photo-printing the faces to get people re-invested...or even just re-painting the clothes for Andrea, Glenn & Tyreese in this wave (they all wore similar clothing in other colors). Same for Wave 1's Rick & Michonne.
Oh well.
@kassle Yeah, I saw the Walker announcement later and was gonna come post about it, but I got lazy. It's an odd choice to make it a 4 pack, I think. The burnt Walker and the mud Walker you could potentially army build, but the water Walker and RV Walker are unique enough that they're pretty singular (RV moreso than water). If he were to re-release them separately, I could see folks maybe snagging a couple, but as-is, I don't necessarily see it, unless someone is a customizer and can spruce them up a bit.
While TWD certainly doesn't have as much gas in the tank as it did in its heyday, I think it's still popular enough to support a few new releases. At the very least, switching up the paint to give us a new outfit; like you said, it's not like any of these characters had a huge wardrobe, but most of what they wore were variations on one another. Or heck, throw some blood on them to make a more battle damaged look- something to differentiate from the old release, especially for the characters like Tyreese and the Governor that, at least around me, peg-warmed for quite a while. Or heck, dig up the old unused Color Tops (remember them? 🤣 ) files, assuming they still exist, scale them down a bit, and give us those unused versions- a new Maggie, Daryl, Jesus, etc. On one hand, I'm glad Todd didn't go the route that the BTAS re-releases did and include BAF parts for a new character, but still. I think as long as there's still at least one "anchor" character per wave- Rick, Daryl, Michonne, etc., he could manage a new character or two.
Ah, well. I guess I can keep my fingers crossed that the Hiya releases are prosperous. At the very least, they're giving us the newer versions of the old characters.
