@schizm oh definitely!  These do look far superior and appeal to my adult collector self.

Hold on to that Uhura for now - she hasn't been announced by Hiya yet (crossing my fingers she pops up soon!).  😊

It's sad to me that Playmate's is already more than likely out of the game, but at the same time not at all surprising. I would be more excited for the Hiya offerings, especially with them not starting out the gate with something from TOS or TNG, but for such small figures I can't justify the price. The 6" Kirk they showed off looked pretty good, but I'm expecting him to be pretty pricey too. This will probably sound counter intuitive, but I might just save up and get the occasional EXO-6 figure. They're expensive, but I don't think I'll feel as bad about it with them being 1/6th scale. I think I can also more easily just stick to a handful or so of characters.

The EXO figures are beautiful - but all of the facesculpts are juuuuussst slightly off to me. Like, they are clearly the character - but either a little round, or nearsighted, or gaunt - it's never the same issue but every one has an issue. Not enough for $200.

Apologies for parade-shitting.  That line came out as I was in my 30s so I've never had any 'eyes of a child' moments with the movie or the figures.  It was simply a massive under-performance on so many levels for me and many/most(?), especially the 18th action figure front.  I've got issues with Hiya figures but they're going to be improvements over the 09 PMs in every way an action figure can be judged, imho.

@adrienveidt If Hiya does figures for other parts of the Star Trek Universe and Playmates continues ignoring the fans and doing absolutely nothing with the license, I think a lot of us are going to forget they were ever relevant. You are right about Hiya’s showing being light years above Playmates. These are quality similar to Pre-DST Art Asylum offerings. I really want to see what Hiya does with Borg action figures!

Looking at Hiya's Judge Fire, I'm wondering about mid-change Founders and/or Odo figures.

@adrienveidt Have you ever seen Hiya’s two-pack with Battle Damaged Alien Xenomorphs and two Colonial Marines Remote Sentry Guns? That set is pretty incredible. I remember Playmates, in the 90’s was more willing to take risks and go with niche characters in their line ups. Realistically thinking I know those days are behind us but I keep holding on to the hope that they will capture lightning a second time. I no longer believe Playmates will be that company. I’m hoping that since Hiya is showing characters like Keenser and Prime Spock they might pleasantly surprise us as they delve deeper into Star Trek. I will continue to maintain open channels like Kirk did in TOS episode “Galileo Seven” in hopes that Playmates will in a final act of desperation release Wave 2 figures but this starship is leaving orbit at one quarter impulse!

Hiya make really great figures. Their 2000AD line and Robocop lines are utterly stunning. I just wish they'd started with some of the newer properties like Strange New Worlds or Picard instead of 09 which may have a somewhat limited appeal.

I believe I read somewhere that the Kelvin trilogy is the most popular Trek series in China. That's probably why Hiya started with those. I'm hopeful that they continue making figures for the newer Trek shows, rather than make more TNG and TOS stuff.

Yes 2009 Star Trek is more popular in the Asian Market than older Star Trek shows. Michelle Yeoh is also really popular there, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Captain Georgio. I think it’s been mentioned that Hiya has an all inclusive licensing deal so I think we could see TNG and TOS which is fine by me. Just don’t kill us with only Kirk and Picard. I’m really anxious to see Hiya make some Borg figures!

Pre-orders have gone up for the EXO-6 1/6th scale SNW Captain Christopher Pike. He looks fantastic imho, just can't justify ordering him quite yet. I love that the type I phaser is actually removeable from the type II body, even though I don't remember seeing anyone holding just a type I in the show. Don't really care for the phaser rifle, but I'm not sure what I would have included instead of it. I think the likeness to Anson Mount is probably one of the best they've done so far. Will definitely be worth getting when I'm able to. Just gotta have a debate with myself about how much of the SNW crew I'll "need" to own, lol.

Would still like to know what the statuses of the TNG Riker and Cage Pike they've shown off in the past are.

@wil I was not going to order him, but he looked so good when he went up for preorder that I caved.  However, I have know plans to buy the rest of the SNW figures.  I love the show, but I’m not prepared to allocate that much money and space to it.  Hopefully someone will get to smaller scale offerings someday.

As soon as I saw that Pike was up for pre-order, I put money down for it. My only issues with it are that the boots are one piece, so likely little to no articulation at the ankles, and the shirt material looks a little thick.

From some angles the likeness looks really good, but from others his eyes seem to disappear/blend into his skin.

Weird likeness thing - I have the Marvel Legends modern Spider-Woman with the orange glasses nearby and sometimes she looks exactly like SNW Chapel - the far-set eyes and the hairline are the same.
