@new-batman That would be cool too. I guess with Star Trek the Inner Space thing would probably be the best way of going about things.  I know fans of Jazwares and the manufacturers are discussing how to do Capital Ships regarding sticking to the scale of the other ships. Those could easily be the size of a house if they stuck to one scale! Lol

@zombief-body Hey welcome back buddy! I just ordered the D from Target and TOS communicator. I really begrudgingly ordered because I am holding out one last little bit of hope for a Wave 2……but yep Ol’ Doctor McCoy would definitely concur with your post mortem. As for Playmates, if ever in the future Star Trek becomes the brand….. Well I hope they tell them they can go straight to hell.

Thanks!  I didn't know the forums back up until a search brought me here!  I look forward to your thoughts on the D.  I may just keep my eyes peeled for a decent priced DST version.  I really regret never picking one up when my local FYE was selling them!  I'm really tempted to get a new model kit and go nuts with the LEDs and Aztek detailing.

@schizm I just saw your post. I was out having Chinese Buffet with my daughters! Lol I ordered using the Target App but that link that was shared should be good too. I didn’t see any  of the new Star Trek stuff at either of my two closest Targets but I did manage to get a second TOS Enterprise to keep boxed and a third to start my grandson on his way to Starfleet Academy! Lol They were on clearance for $11.99! I sure hope this line isn’t dead, but it sure on life support and could code at anytime.

My Target has already clearanced out the figures a few weeks back.  The only store in my area that actually had the line planogramed was WM (they are gone now after the latest reset) and they only carried the TOS/movie era figures.  Seems retailers are cautious when they are actually carrying it.  I think Playmates will recoup any loses with the new TMNT line.  This movie has given TMNT the biggest retail presence I've seen in forever.  Retro 80s/90s figures and new stuff take up about a quarter of an aisle at my Target now with an endcap to boot.

Playmates is just the TMNT company anyway.  I hope Hiya will move into the other eras of ST eventually.  Not sure if the Playmates license is preventing anything making them start out with Kelvin Trek first or if that was just the initial direction they wanted to go in.  If there are more interested companies out there and Playmates is holding that up, this is going to suck!  McFarlane basically did that but no one was really beating down the door to make figures at the time.

I keep waffling between maybe picking up one of ye olde Bridge or Transporter sets from the PM run of the '09 flick and an alien playset.  I'm thinking these Hiyas will look great where the PM figs looked like complete ass in those sets; but then I realize there's not a whole hell of a lot of action that happens in those locations, esp not 'fighting aliens' action, which happens mostly on Away missions down planetside.  I'm thinking these Treks would look great in the recent Avatar dio-sets, but now they're hard to find as I passed on them.  Ye olde Kenner Tatooine/Hoth sets with the li'l cave at the rear left would be a good start as well.

How are you guys planning to display these Hiya guys?

/trawling ebay, I noticed Playmates really tried to sell 6" figures with swivel-hip t-crotches.  How the hell did this company ever get another license after that incompetence?

Hiya is a Chinese Company and the JJ Abrams Star Trek is what’s popular in China among movie and TV viewers. That’s why they started with the 2009 Star Trek. Michelle Yeoh being added to the cast of Discovery has encouraged the Asian viewers interest in other areas of the Star Trek Legacy. I think it’s a really good bet that they will have plenty figures from other parts of Star Trek. I think EXO-6 will be the company Hiya focuses on planning their production strategies and not Playmates. Well, maybe Playmates will be their example of what not to do! It was fun Playmates, but this consumer/manufacturer relationship has gone toxic and I guess it’s time to move along to something better.

I plan on just getting Keenser and plopping him in with my SW 4" Hoth display!  You'll see all the Rebel soldiers, pilots, droids and then Keenser.  Why not?!  The only Hiya product I have is the standard version of Robocop 2 Kane.  It's a good figure.  Wish I could find the damaged version of Robocop to stage a fight display but it seems that thing has completely disappeared from the Earth.

It's pricey, and not the same damage since it's not the same fight; but this may suffice your needs

I hope the Hiya Toys 6” figures won’t have the same issues I had with Mezco’s One:12 Star Trek figures. Mine got discolored by the dyes in the figures clothing. Generally speaking I prefer action figures not have cloth clothing because unless they are Megos or something like Hot Toys or EXO-6.

Nice, that's pretty cool.  Thanks for the link, I'm going to have to pick that up.  I'm trying to not get too deep with the Hiya Robocop stuff but get the things that differ from what NECA has released.  Those two fit that criteria nicely since the damage is different from the BD NECA version and I doubt NECA will make a BD Ed-209 too.

I really hate the dye staining on figures.  All my AEW figures with softgoods has a dye spot somewhere.  Mattel WWE gets them every so often but they seem to do a better job at preventing it.  The clothes are usually too fragile to soak and clean a lot of the time too so you have to risk it if you want to display with the clothes on.

Thanks for the Target Enterprise links, guys! Not sure why it didn't come up. But YIKES, that does indeed look cheap BUT the detachable saucer is what my inner child wants so it's a toss up.

I hope that when Hiya ventures Beyond the Kelvin-verse they take the EXO approach as well - doing characters from the other franchises and not just the same six characters that every licensee launches with.

@zombief-body You know I don’t remember any of my two daughters Barbies or Monster High dolls ever having any dye-transfer damage. Nope never once, just Daddy’s dollies! Lol

I'm sure there are old 70s MEGOs out there that are just fine too (my mother has some of the original Barbie dolls and I'm sure they're just fine too) but even a few of my modern MEGOs have bad staining.  I took apart a modern red cape Bela Dracula and the entire body and limbs were all stained black from the suit.  I had the MOTU 2002 She-Ra stored in a tub and went to take her out like 15-years ago after only being stored for a few years and the red cape had stained the entire backside of the figure.  I notice white and Caucasian shade plastic figures really leach the dye and paint from nearby figures.  I try to store everything in Ziploc bags but some of my stuff is just loose in boxes.  I'm dreading taking them out because I have severe OCD with the condition of my figures!  I'll start to consider blowing $100 or something to replace a figure with just a slight blemish.
