I’m actually pretty happy if these do just that, make them as if Playmates was carrying the line forward. I kind of have to question why Boimler looks like he only has five points of articulation, but it was speculated that these were prototypes. I saw a video which showed the card backs and it looks like we are getting 9 characters from Lower Decks and 9 from Strange New Worlds. I heard the same is true for the 3rd Season Picard figures. It’s going to be wonderful having Nacelle, Hiya Toys and Master Replicas all making awesome Star Trek figures in 3.75 inch, 4.5 inch and 6-7 inch! I noticed that Master Replicas does Bendy figures of TOS and TNG, so I hope we might also get figures for all those as well in 4.5 inch!

Is it? I think this sucks hard. I'd kill for a unified Star Trek line of consistent scale and quality.
My gut tells me Uhura's absence is due to difficulty adapting the engineering to Saldana's far-slimmer form combined with the paucity of women in the Reboot movies to even make instead of the knee-jerk 'racism' suspicion I'd had. There's her and Carol Marcus, and *maybe* Spock's mom; and she doesn't even share an outfit buck (and let's be honest in that Saldana and Alice Eve do *not* have the same physiques even if in the same cut of skirtdress). We're not gonna get Saldana Uhura simply because she's not gonna be worth the cost, imho.
I have high hopes for SNW women simply because the crew is mostly women and their uniforms aren't as snug-fit.
For many companies I'd agree that the "one & done sculpts" might be a deterrent, but Hiya does it all the time - and they've done it for female characters in a # of lines: Injustice had a handful of female figures; GI Joe has several (and more planned); and Walking Dead has Michonne coming. They don't seem afraid of a unique female buck.
It feels like something else odd is at play. I'm assuming it is not the racism issue either (since Michonne is coming for Walking Dead) - maybe it is an engineering issue (either Saldana's frame or her dress)? Maybe it's a likeness issue? I have no clue but whatever it is...it's HIGHLY frustrating and they need to work it out - Uhura was essentially one of the Big 3 characters in the NuTrek movies/storylines/marketing.
I've recently gotten back into Star Trek, beginning with Next Generations Season 1, and came here to see where I'd stand if I wanted to start collecting figures for these shows.
It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but I read back a few pages to catch up on where this Nacelle company stands. I don't want a single one of the characters they announced in their first wave, but I think it's safe to be optimistic that he's coming around.
Brian Volk-Weis is definitely coming around to adding the Bridge Crews and Core Characters in their most well known and wanted uniforms. He was inundated with emails stating that we all wanted our beloved crews as well as the background and guest appearance characters.
I love Nacelle Company’s commitment to keeping open communication with the fans about what we want to see in this line. It was noticeably absent in Playmates last attempt and that was probably the reason for their downfall. Well that and just some cruddy product that just came nowhere near trying to meet fan expectations for quality. Nacelle will definitely fulfill a lot of fan’s wishes for a 6” scaled line.
I am hoping that the new player entering the arena (Master Replicas) will be communicative with the fan base like Brian Volk-Weis is being. They could really fill that hole in our 4.5 inch collections that Playmates left us with. Hopefully the two companies will get the licensing to allow each to do action figures from all areas of Star Trek’s 60 year history and we all find ourselves buried in product like Kirk was in Tribbles! I would add Hiya here as well but so far they haven’t really tried to enlighten us to their plans for the license although they have been consistent in showing new products more than a year out. Hopefully New York Toy Fair in a couple months will end the silence.
I wish the Playmates Seven of Nine that was coming would get resurrected or leaked. Just wanna see it!
For anyone who’s not sure who Cards Inc is check this out! They are the company who now owns Master Replicas and is making this Star Trek line!

Honestly, if you don't mind collecting "dated" action figures, just get the 90's Playmates. Particularly if you're looking for 90's Trek. They're cheep as hell (except for like four of them) and you'll be able to complete crews. Your alternative is watching various companies play musical license, produce their version of Kirk, Spock, Picard, Data, then call it quits.
Speaking of Playmates, I know I've dropped their name here once before, but Triple Fiction Productions on FB created some banger 3D printed accessories and environments for these figures. I have a few captain's chars and helm consoles from them. I LOVE their Quark's Bar that is coming out.

Having torn the first three apart I'm solidly convinced it's an engineering issue trying to adapt that interior rig to her frame. They should stop trying to replicate it and just dupe the format of the shitty 09 Galaxy-scale Uhura but with nicely-sculpted pieces and ball waist and elbow joints instead.
While I lean towards agreeing with Bgiles about being excited we are getting so many figures…there is a part of me that feels like it’s spreading too thin too. With that said I’m very excited the Master Replicas will be playmates scale as deep down this is what a lot of us wanted when Playmates crapped the bed for the 3rd time. I did start getting the HIYA figures when SNW Pike was announced but now I regret it(I’m just not a huge fan of that scale and the iffy distribution ie not holding my breath Sulu will actually be released on AMAZON USA the 29th)seeing Master Replicas. Awaiting anxiously to see Keith & Mike post a YouTube video on this as I’m willing to bet Keith especially is super excited about the scale. I just hope Master Replicas doesn’t take wind out of the sails for Nacelle…who while they admitted they are addressing…already did a slight misstep by doing the too deep cut characters…not everyone is following these toys on message boards/social media..so someone might see on Amazon an Admiral Picard with phaser rifle or Valkris..who are they likely to choose not knowing Nacelles intent and communication to make a full 100 figure+ line? Either way…I’ll definitely be supporting both…and who are we kidding…I’m sure I’ll give in on HIYA too.
I don’t know if it’s a case of spreading it all out too thin or casting the nets out wider. I kind of agreed with presidentjuggernaut, I too wish that the whole Star Trek license for toys rested with one company like it did in the 90s and then again for the DST years. I am sick of having to start a new collection every so many years only to get the same five characters and the Deja Vu feeling of abandonment. I like Hiya Toys in that I always wanted a Star Trek line in a similar scale to Star Wars’s 3.75 inch but now even Star Wars has various scales. I’m a little confused by Hiya’s announcement of a SNW Pike figure now in light of Master Replica’s announcement. Are they stepping on one another’s toes here or are the licensing privileges a little more fluid here opening the possibility for Nacelle to also be able to offer products for the newer series as well? Also, who is going to be the go-to company for all ships, play-sets and role play items?
Agreed more confused now than ever about licensing. A few posts ago someone noted to their knowledge it was scale based…but now Master Replicas has totally thrown me for a loop. Maybe we can catch Brian Volk-Weiss and see if he’ll respond to clarify?
Oh wow…in other news…I hope this won’t affect production too much??!! copy/paste of the text from Master Replicas Twitter:
Unfortunately having set up at Nuremberg Toy Fair. Our booth was broken into and a large number of new product samples were stolen. These include a lot of Grade 1 Sculpt Star Trek items we were due to announce in Feb. Police reports have been filed and we will monitor auctions..
That sucks! I bet they stole Seven of Nine which will keep her out of my hands EVEN LONGER!
:/
Okay - If Master Replicas *actually* releases waves of eight or more characters in one case? I am SOLD. Getting an entire crew at the same time? That is the fastest way to my collector heart. Like, do I want Lower Decks figures? Not really. Am I tempted by getting *every* character in one big box at the same time? ABSOLUTELY.
Giving me all of Picard S3 in one case packout? Knock me over.
This is quite the development and if true Nacelle has hit a serious setback. Not to mention... what the heck is taking so long with The Expanse Kickstarter figs?
