I think a TOS Kirk with swappable hands and head to create aged “The Deadly Years” Kirk or even a head swap and smashed computer console to give you “The Enemy Within “ Doppelgänger Kirk. The same could be done with bridge characters from TOS, TNG and DS9 which already has numerous versions of core characters. How about a plague blistered McCoy from “Miri”? There’s a lot of ways to interpret the “ Never been done costume” statement.
Man I hope Janeway is from either Macrocosm or Year of Hell.
Granted he said it would be a Kirk and Janeway in an outfit never done before
HELL YEAH, KARATE KIRK!
🤣 I would buy it!!!! Charlie was on my list anyways!!
So i was galavanting around my local Walmart when, in the electronic section, there was a whole section dedicated to Nacelle products. I hope that presence sticks around when Trek comes along.
All 3 2009 figures hit my POL yesterday. Spock shipped from the Hiya Amazon store at the same time, so I cancelled my POL Spock. Amazon order should be here Monday, tbd on the others. Assuming they stick to the same release schedule of 3 figures at a time, and assuming plans haven't changed, who would be next released? Spock Prime, Nero, and Keenser?
Brian from Nacelle responded to one of my e-mails about the concerns people are having over “not buying until I can see a complete uniformed crew”. I gotta give the guy credit he’s personally responding to the thousands of emails his gotten. Anyhow, he acknowledged the fandom concerns and says he’s “having discussions with Paramount”. The fact they seem open to feedback and course correcting is encouraging.

Brian responded to my email as well about making core characters in their main outfits. He said a lot of people have expressed the same sentiment and that they were working on some ideas regarding it. I give this guy a lot of credit, to have personally responded to all of these emails. I really hope this line succeeds, for him as much as for us.
That’s definitely good news hearing they are considering making the core characters because everything else that’s come before is going to look horrible next to what Nacelle has shown at NYCC. I have one of the ‘Biker Mice From Mars” and both of the “Sectaurs” figures. Those have some of the best articulation I have seen on action figures. I really need a TOS Kirk in his Command Gold shirt to duplicate all those Kirk Fu moves! Going to need a Picard that can accomplish the face palm Picard Maneuver too!

I've got Kirk, Spock, McCoy and a 2nd McCoy to try making Dr Mbenga with MarauderInc.com head and hand bits coming from BBTS, due Weds. I hope these figures are conducive to easy customization so we/I can make a shitload of Trek figures like I've long dreamt of having. I want both full crews and rando crewmen from most every series.
@adrienveidt If that Marauders head sculpt doesn’t work Hiya is doing a GI Joe Stalker figure that might work as M’Benga too. Star Trek 2009’s heads and neck are molded together not on a ball-joint inside the head.
Got 2009 Spock in yesterday. Amazon had bent the cardback nearly in half to try and fit it into the box. Oh, Amazon!
My Spock has a slight case of side-eye, but I don't hate it. It works for the character, I think. The body feels nice and sturdy, which is good, since it'll be used for 90% of the line. The softer plastic reminds me a bit of the old 2009 figures; it's nowhere near that rubbery silicone menace, but an interesting touch. Though I think I'd prefer it to an ab crunch that breaks up the shirt. The hands swap out easily and don't feel like they're going to break the pegs, and I was pleasantly surprised to see he holds both the phaser and communicator quite tightly; no danger of either slipping through and falling.
I'd heard that the belt was a bit of a pain to get back on, and they weren't lying. I tried for probably a good 20 minutes but couldn't get the peg back through the loop. May have to try what I saw in the video review and just slide the pre-closed belt on over the legs and wiggle it up over the shirt with future figures. I have Spock without the belt right now anyway; he feels oddly more appropriate without it.
Only have the 1 figure so far, but I quite like it. Better than the original Playmates figures in almost every way. Funny how the young brain works- as a kid, this is how I saw those original 3.75" figures, if that makes sense. They really only started to feel crappy as I got older and figures started to get better.
How does the shirt bunch when the figure is in a sitting position?
@schizm It doesn't at all, really. The legs are a barbell/ball joint (not quite sure), and you can get full range of motion- bend them, have him do the splits, etc. without moving or bending the top half of the body at all. The legs don't ever touch the shirt. I'd post a photo if I could, but I think it looks quite natural, unless you like a bit of fold, but I think it'll help maintain the integrity of the plastic over time.
Got Kirk and McCoy. As it's 95% the same figure, all the same points for Spock apply here too. Paint is pretty good- Kirk is probably the weakest, and really only looks like Chris Pine from certain angles (might be due to the eyebrows only really showing up at certain angles). McCoy might be the best likeness of the 3, but the paint is definitely still pretty thick. My McCoy's ankle seems to have been put on slightly wonky- it can still stand perfectly fine, but there's no straightening out the foot.
I'd definitely recommend using caution with McCoy- the two little medical vials are very tiny, and could easily get lost right out of the package. Even getting one into the hand meant to hold it required a bit of pushing, and almost flew out of my hand at first. He also doesn't hold the medical tricorder super well unless angled a certain way, so use caution. There's unfortunately no way to open his bag to store the unused accessories, and the pouch for the tricorder isn't able to be stored or pegged anywhere, so it's very possible to lose those accessories.
With Kirk, I had to use a pair of scissors to widen the hole in his hands. For some reason, the existing hole was super tiny and just wouldn't give to the peg. Only happened with Kirk so far, oddly enough.
Regarding the belt, I tried slipping Kirk's on without undoing the notch. Slid it up over his legs; there's no way to get it over the shirt (at least that I saw), so it's resting at his waist currently, in a more gunslinger-esque way. It's not flush against the edge of the shirt- it slips a bit the more I move his legs, but I don't mind it being a bit askew. At least for Kirk, who's a bit more carefree and less by-the-book, it feels like it fits. Whenever the others come out- Pike, Sulu, Chekov, etc. I'll worry about trying to get it over the shirt. The only way I could find so far is placing the little notch in the hole and just letting it rest- not even attempting to work it through. Can, and probably will, fall off if even moved slightly, but it's the only way I could manage, short of trying to heat the hole and working the notch through.
