Yep that’s the image! Wtf is going on with playmates!? They haven’t announced these and that pic was from months ago…. Not sure what’s going on with them.

One has to assume they've lost the license or have failed it so badly they don't think it's worth upholding.  Frankly, I don't understand how they got it back after the travesty of the 2009 line's abject failure on nearly every front a toyline can be judged.

Also, Hiya showed Keenser off last night; and I was surprised by how much I want him.  He should look great alongside some Ugnaughts, and may be worthy of multiples for customizing.

He's a must get, he'll fit in great with Star Wars stuff. https://twitter.com/preterniadotcom/status/1707373552008155459?s=20

Keenser wasn't my guess for the next 09 figure, but I'll take him! Still bummed we never got that second wave of 2009 Star Trek figures. Yeah, they were pretty bad, but I was young at the time and didn't know any better. Really loving these Hiya Toys 09 figs- they were what the original figures looked like in my eyes back then. 😜

You were young? Ugh, I was getting married at that time...

I so old now.

I digress. Seeing Keenser puts me over the moon. I love how in Hiya seems to be! Hopefully they give us Uhura, which is the only sculpt we have not seen yet.

Also hope this extends to give us Khan and some Klingons from Into Darkness.

When the 09 movie came out, I was 15 going on 16. So not terribly young, but old for my years (something I have definitely regressed on since).

I'd love some Into Darkness and Beyond figures as well. I totally get why the action figure line didn't continue past that first wave of the first movie, and not everyone loves the two sequels as much, but I think they were a lot of fun. Don't know if I need multiple variants of every character, but I'd definitely take the main villains and Jaylah.

I hope to see Uhura soon as well. Have we seen sculpts for Sulu or Pike yet too?

Not a ST collector but I'm digging the look of these figures, and excited to hear they'll be producing characters from across the franchise. Looking forward to seeing how dynamic they are in hand.

@joshsquash729 No Sulu or Pike yet, either. Nope.

At SDCC, Hiya showed off the figures that have been solicited thus far, and still missing Chekov, Scotty, and jumpsuit Spock.

Just got to the Lower Decks ep where Mariner jokes about "Kirk and Spock have cinematic chemistry" - HA. I was working at Paramount when Star Trek '08 became '09 and I remember seeing Pine and Quinto hugging and talking to each other at a promo event. I thought they looked happy to see each other. And I'm happy to see better merch finally - Keenser!

Playmates - the fact that photo is the ONLY one that appears to have been taken makes me soooo sad. I want that Seven!!!!

saw the enterprise-d this morning at target, the box is the same size as the tos one so i figure this will be small.

I'm more than ok with that. As good as the new TOS Enterprise looks, it's large size made me glad I decided to skip it. Not sure when I'll get a chance to get one, but I do plan on picking up the D at some point.

Sad thing is, if they have lost the licensing, we likely won't know until another company picks it up. Assuming there are any companies left that are willing to give it a go. As for how they got it back, I think Paramount and CBS were hoping to feed off the recent success of retro-esque action figures like the current MOTU stuff.

We've already got *some* sort of answer to that with all these Hiya reveals and how they're not being restricted to the Asian market like their Joes are.

One would assume that we would hear something regarding Playmates future involvement with the Star Trek license starting this weekend at New York International Toy Fair. Playmates certainly doesn’t reply to questions about Star Trek on their website anymore. I think the Department of Defense is actually more cooperative bringing forth information in Congress concerning UFOs! Seeing that Playmates has gone to the trouble to get the Enterprise D and TOS Communicator out to us in time for Toy Fair gives me a small bit of hope but I hope it isn’t too little too late because Hiya is definitely putting out some impressive looking figures. Playmates apparently learned nothing when NECA stole all the wind from their sails/sells when both companies presented press releases on their TMNT Ronin figure simultaneously!

Someone posted the following on Facebook:

According to my computer at Target (I work there) This is what it says about wave 2 :
Picard : from Picard.
Picard : From TNG.
Lt Montgomery Scott.
Geordie LaForge TNG.
Worf TNG.
7 of 9 Voyager.
Booker : Disco.
Spock : Disco.
Pike : Disco.
Kirk : Classic.
Spock : Classic.
Georgiou : Mirror Universe.
Q
It's usually about 80-90 % accurate.
fyi

If this turns out to be right, that’s not a bad line up. Hopefully we’ll find out more over they next few days and hopefully we get even more waves. I’m not going to say I’m not annoyed by Playmates over abundance of secrecy but I really hope they stick with Star Trek for a long time. I hope we get more of those TWOK figures, but I hope they resort to other means besides WalMart because those lingered there. Maybe boxed sets of the crews would be ideal? I’m really anxious to get a Gorn in Space Suit. Some Borg. Klingons. How about a Salt Vampire?

Nice line up, now doubt when it comes to target systems they’re accurate.
the line up is great, a good mix of different shows, can’t wait to see how they look.

I wonder if this whole secrecy thing is more paramount than playmates? We seen this happen before with studio’s being restricted on what they want made or what they to produce for merchandise. Maybe playmates are limited to what they can produce and have to wait for approval from the studio to green light production of toys.
