Who was the second figure he teased in that interview? I saw Tuvix but couldn't find the other when scrolling.

In that latest interview (where he showed the body of the Tuvix prototype) he didn't tease anyone else from wave 1. But he spoke more about the second wave. So we now know 3 of the 10 characters planned for wave 2:

Commander Shelby from TNG's Best of Both Worlds - known because Brian said at NYCC that Shelby would have been the 9th figure in wave 1 if wave 1 had more than 8 figures.

Kirk from an unidentified episode or movie - known from the most recent interview.

Janeway (pending approval and he is not sure if he will receive it) from an unidentified episode or movie - known from the most recent interview. Given his uncertainty that he will receive permission, I'd bet it is Admiral Janeway from her brief moment on a viewscreen in the TNG movie Nemesis - why else would there be doubt?

is the Nacelle line a sequel to DST's line or the Playmates line?

Simple answer is "no".

You may probably be able to pose them near (but not directly next to) the DST/Art Asylum line, just by virtue of their being a similar scale. But Brian never mentions the DST/Art Asylum line by name and since he is very careful with his messaging that must be read as intentional, i.e., he does not want these to be viewed as the continuation of another company's line(s).

He always cites Star Wars Black Series, and also to some sort of modern GI Joe line that I haven't heard of but is apparently the same level of detail and size as Star Wars Black Series. That said, human figures in Star Wars Black Series are generally 6 inches tall but he says Nacelle's Star Trek figures will usually be between 6 to 7.

But I have to say, this morning, that all of our anticipation may be for naught. The cost of these was going to be kept at just under $30 if at all possible, but certain conditions changed on Nov 5th that could mean the price may have to double - not just from Nacelle, but from every American company that manufactures in China. That's not a rumor coming from Nacelle. That is just my own observation that any changes in import fees may obliterate the action figure industry in 2025. That deserves a thread of its own... and maybe it won't even be allowed to be discussed until it has an undeniable effect on the toy biz... so no more will be said about it here and now.

I just got word from Big Bad Toy Store that I will soon be getting billed for my Hiya Kirk, Spock and McCoy! I already got the ones I ordered direct from Hiya about 6 weeks ago. Finally these are going to start finding themselves in all our anxiously awaiting hands! I hope they announce stuff from other areas of the Trek Legacy at New York Toy Fair in the first quarter of 2025 and hopefully they’ll finally announce an Uhura figure as well!

Was just coming to say the same! I knew as soon as I made a post asking about the 2009 figures, they'd start popping up. Glad I did, though, since I'm sure if I didn't say anything, they'd still be floating out in the ether. 😀 Anywho, glad to have these in my hands too. Definitely want a little breathing room between waves, but I hope the others aren't too far behind.

I really need to see more reviews of the Hiya Toys 2009 figures before I commit. The likenesses in the promo photos looked so much better than the in-hand photos I've seen. I don't think they look horrible, just not what I was expecting. I'd like to see how far the articulation goes. I'd like to see how they sit and if they can kneel on one leg, running poses, etc.

That’s great news about BBTS getting ready to ship the 1/18 line, hopefully the 1/12 line isn’t too far behind. I continue to be worried that they haven’t announced an Uhura at either scale. Definitely hoping we see something about the Enterprise they showed off at SDCC soon too.

@dchimpy If I knew how to get pictures in here I could show you. I sat them in some of the 2009 Playmates Bridge chairs. They look great. They pose very well too.

Glad to hear it! I have that 2009 Bridge Set too, and can't wait to put the Hiya figures into a bridge scene.

One workaround is to make a photo post on Reddit then put the Reddit link here in this forum; the forum will show a preview panel of the Reddit post that includes the pic. That workaround works for 1 pic, anyway.

Saw the 2009 Hiya figs at a LCS yesterday. Didn't end up snagging them because of the markup, but I'm glad I finally got to see them in person. They definitely seemed to be victims of the 3.75" curse- the face paint looked really good on some of them, and a bit sloppy or off on others. Nothing that was so bad it would keep me from buying them, but definitely enough to make me hope for a good application. Excited to finally get this line going.

@willbfree Thanks for the tip. I have not really explored much about Reddit, I’ll have to look around. I do have the pictures on my instagram however.

Realized that I'd never actually seen Star Trek: Beyond in its entirety, so in honor of the 2009 figs coming out soon, I decided to watch it. Don't know if it's my favorite of the trilogy- I gotta rewatch Into Darkness again; don't think I've seen it in years either. That said, I'd love to get Kirk and Chekov in their blue survival suits if the line makes it that far. Jaylah would be great too.

I'm not really expecting many, if any figures past the 2009 movie, but I wouldn't need many past it to be happy- Khan, Dr. Marcus, Jaylah, maybe Krall, and the aforementioned survival suits. Weren't Kirk and Sulu in their diving suits also shown off? Or am I misremembering? Maybe that was Spock in his (I think) Vulcan rescue mission suit I'm thinking of (which has also been mysteriously absent from pre-orders).

I think it is so cool that the owner of Nacelle toys is personally responding to the emailed list of suggestions. I just got one yesterday that said "Outstanding list Danny, thank you!!-BVW". That is pretty sweet considering how many responses they have gotten. The fact that they are engaged with the community is great. He said in a recent interview it even influenced character selection in wave 2 by putting a Kirk and Janeway, pending Paramount and actor approval, into the wave. Granted he said it would be a Kirk and Janeway in an outfit never done before but still it is a Kirk and Janeway which they were initially shying away from doing at the beginning.
