Not Kickstarter for everything, just stuff that die-hard collectors are really wanting to get. Do like Hasbro does with the Haslab, and Mattel does with Mattel Creations. That way we can get stuff funded that wouldn’t necessarily make it in retail as a general release- Things like complete crews, a Phaser Rifle, USS Reliant , etc. I don’t necessarily like having to collect in this way but it’s the only thing really guaranteeing line longevity and profitability for the manufacturers and giving us collectors some kind of a say in the product we want to see. The traditional way just leaves us at the mercy of what a retailer wants to stock on their valuable shelf space and they have shown us time and again that it isn’t what we are wanting.

I backed The Expanse Kickstarter but the prototypes have not wowed me yet. It also caught me after I had recently watched the series for the first time and was excited. Months later, I'm less excited. But still supporting! And I'm especially encouraged when passionate fans are allowed to become creators.

I always thought the Power Rangers Lightning Collection model would be a good one for Trek - with the addition of a Build-an-Alien element. Four figures a wave that combine to add a fifth. And that allows almost every franchise to have a figure a wave and every wave has at least one female!

Sulu

Riker

Sisko

Seven of Nine

Build-a-Borg Queen

Archer

Beverly

Odo

The Doctor

Build An Alien

Picard

McCoy

B'Ellana

Travis

Build An Alien

This is harder than I thought with only four. Six would be much better - each series gets representation and one movie.

Maybe instead of build an alien, its build a ship?

Hmmm. Interesting idea - nacelle, nacelle, saucer, hull - but I feel like the scale would have to stay too small to be worth it. Or it would be its own unique scale. Hmmm.

It's weird how Trek has a metric shitload of ships in toy form in multiple scales but only one toyline's ever given a complete crew for any show.  Not even ye olde TOS Megos gave us both Sulu and Chekov, iirc.

@schizm Just add a complete Micro Machine Ship to each figure, like what was done with those Babylon 5 figures that were sold in the 90s!

That would entice a number of collectors to give this line a shot! Or create an alternative revenue stream for customers who only want one or the other.

But I think the key to this license is a full crew.

Saw Nicole deBoer on the series premiere of Matlock and it still bothers me Playmates never did Ezri.

So did Super7 lose its license? They made Star Trek Ultimate's Picard, Riker, Data, Worf, and Locutus?

It doesn’t seem like anyone noticed? Check Brian’s Sept 7th post on his personal Instagram. He notes “big announcement” coming soon with a blurry pic of the legs for 3 figures. One has a cape/cloak, the other is the TNG command one(my bets are on Jellico like a lot of people seem to note)and the 3rd is for sure a radiation suit TWOK character. Note the black foot/boot with the all white leg.

I have heard just recently -through a source who knows the Nacelle company well-that this will essentially be a continuation of Art Asylum's Star Trek line. There is going to be hopefully soon some detailed news but the hold up is with Paramount legal. This has me excited if it holds true as those are the only Trek figures I still own. It was one of those "you didn't hear this from me" situations from a toy insider at a Toy show I attended since the news broke.

@sgtstinky I hope that is true, but he (Brian Volk-Weiss) has an odd aversion to specifying the scale.  He keeps saying 6"-7" which I don't think lines up with the AA/DST line, but maybe I'm wrong.  I'm most likely in either way, but it would be great if this collection of obscure characters/costumes has a more comprehensive group of figures to hang out with.

Id love it if they could go deeper, particularly if the line is compatible with AA/DST.  Add more of the reoccurring and significant cast:

Vincent DeSalle

Lt Kyle

Lt Riley

Nurse Chapel

Nurse Grace

Dr M’Benga

Janice Rand

Marlena (regular universe version)

it would be fun to have a Harry Mudd too. And a greater variety of classic Klingons and Romulons.

I really think all these license holders are missing a trick by not even trying to offer anything to the fans of the new stuff. Thanks @bgiles73 for bringing this up though. Hopefully this line goes the distance

@asm Nacelle only has the rights up to Enterprise for TV and Nemesis for movies sadly according to the video above.
