Models are cool but MicroMachines would really be great. I’m not a fan of blind box but for Star Trek ships, I would even support that idea. I would however prefer they stick to multi-packs of 3 and larger like Galoob did. Lego type kits would also be great. Megabloks was good but this company BlueBrixx is going all out. I wish they had a bigger presence in the USA.
FanHome is taking over for Eaglemoss. They are starting with new ships, but they’ll most likely revisit some of the classics if you are willing to wait a while. A lot of the Eaglemoss stuff is still out there for reasonable prices as well.
I need to get off my butt and learn 3D printing so I can replicate some ships. "Computer, USS Bozeman vs Gorn battle cruiser"
The EXO-6 Beverly is up for pre-order. I am so tempted.
I hope EXO works out some form of "refresh" release for earlier and now hard to find characters, like... all the captains. And Seven of Nine. Almost everyone has some form of costume change they could do which wouldn't lessen the value of the first releases.
Oh wow finally! Looks like it turned out pretty good too
Ick - why is his yellow so green? Doesn't match the cardback at all.
The likeness seems pretty there! Did this guy ever have him sit to see how the rubber shirt works?
Yeah, the shirt seems a little more olive than yellow to me, but I couldn't tell if it was just the lighting or not. In some scenes in the movie when it's not being hit by the bright, direct light, it does kinda skew a little darker yellow/barely greenish, at least to me. Maybe that's what they were basing it on? Or maybe part of the reason for the delay was to fix the color of the shirt, and maybe an older produced figure got sent out as a review copy? Not likely, but not impossible. Or maybe a brighter yellow just didn't look good on the plastic; too bright a color can really look kinda platsic-y and cheap. Either way, it doesn't reeeeally bother me that much. Maybe they'll fix the color as the releases go on- we have at least 3 more yellow shirts to come between Sulu, Chekov, and Pike.
Other than that, I think he looks pretty good. Maybe a bit heavy on the face paint, but I can still tell it's a young Chris Pine. I'm really digging those stands too. Definitely gonna pop on the shelf.
what they should have done is make the stands a transporter pad
then you could hook them all up together
I thought about that too, or made some sort of barebones diorama- either the bridge or an Enterprise hallway or something. Definitely a missed opportunity, but of course putting more into the stands would've just bumped the price. I do wonder how these Hiya figures will look on the old playsets (assuming anyone still has them- they were rough).
The same youtuber has posted a review for Hiya Spock. I'm a little disappointed in the likenesses, the portraits on the prototypes were very detailed, which seems missing from the final product. One bonus though is that they appear to have drop down hips, which are good for sitting and crouched on one knee 'he's dead Jim' poses.
Skin tone on the final product is too pale imo
Did they use face printing at all with these, do we know? I think the biggest issue is that the paint on the face just looks a little too heavy, at least to me, which comes across as more of a CG look than human. I think it worked on the human figures of the Injustice line Hiya did, since that was a game, but doesn't quiiiite hit the mark here. I still plan on picking them up though; always wanted well made 2009 Trek figs.
Part of me is worried there's gonna be a slew of them hitting at once. I know the first wave got pushed back, so it's possible the second one does too, but right now Amazon is still showing a lot of them- Spock Prime, Keenser, Chekov, etc. as hitting around the start of November, which is around when this first wave is supposed to ship as well. I know things change constantly, and I wouldn't necessarily be too opposed to getting a lot at once, but still. With all the other lines that seem to be shipping product around October/November, it's gonna be a hella pricey few months for me!

That's ALWAYS the difference between a hand painted prototype and a factory painted figure. The care and time spent on a proto will never be the same when it's being cranked out on a factory assembly line with per hour metrics that need to be met.
They're gonna have to announce Uhura before I pull the trigger. But knowing how small Hiya portraits are in-hand, I think these turned out pretty nice.
