Spock Prime!
The news out of Hiya from Comic-Con and Star Trek Las Vegas was awesome! Loved seeing the 2009 figures, and I already pre-ordered them on BBTS. Then the cherry on top was that they are working on 6 inch soft goods figures too!
I'm assuming these will also be from the Kelvin Timeline/JJ Abramsverse? I'd still be tempted if so, but would prefer the classic crew.
Hiya apparently has licensing access to all live-action Star Trek, so while I think there's a good chance their first 6" figures will also be from the Kelvin Timeline, there is a chance they won't be.
Personally, I'm hoping they're doing 6" figures of the Discovery crew. Specifically based on their look from season 4. The uniforms were definitely an improvement from the first ones they had, imho.
Thanks for the info!
It would be great if they'd delve into ALL the Trek universe, but my biggest want is the classic crew. I'd definitely love if DS9 & Strange New Worlds also got figures.
Certainly interested to see what these Hiya figures look like in person. 6" soft goods? that should be interesting.
Those Hiya figures certainly look intriguing, but the faces are soft - Spock Prime is the only one that looks not actor-lite. I'm curious how that articulation set-up looks posing and sitting. Not that we'll ever get another Bridge set for them to sit on... (prove me wrong, Hiya!).
I just finished rewatching Picard S3, Seven of Nine's first two episodes of VOY, rewatching SNW S1 after S2 made me very happy (can't stop singing the Rhapsody!) and am currently watching Lower Decks and I'm left with one huge question - why are there no seatbelts on these starships?
Star Trek Day and no surprise that we haven’t heard anything from Playmates Toys. It’s looking like Hiya Toys for the win. I am not at all bothered by the likenesses on these figures. I agree that Karl Urban’s likeness is a little off but I think he’s a little hard to get right. I think it’s in the eyes and eyebrows that’s not quite catching it. It looks a little more Deforest Kelly to me. I really want to see what Hiya can do for TOS and TNG. I think they are really going to shine when it comes to Borg, Klingons and the new take on the Gorn!
They have the inertial dampeners taking the very large amount of energy out of changes in the ship's motion, but they have limits to how 'hard' they can grip onto living organisms before life-processes are interrupted. They can grab onto your body's particles to negate particle motion for long enough that the being is completely inert and dead once the dampeners release; thus they have an upper limit of both grip-strength and duration and have to release you once they hit that limit. Most star travelers are taught how to 'roll with the punches' to minimize any chances of damage when the dampeners have to let go their grip so you can remain living *at all*.
Send my Federation No-Prize to me care of Admiral Scott, Head of Starfleet Engineering, Training Division, San Francisco, Earf.
I wonder how PriSpock's head would look on KelSpock's body, and Bones' head would look on the Dredd body. I'm assuming the Dredd helmet is much too narrow to be drilled out to fit Bones' head, tho.
For Bridge or other playsets, here in 2023 the only avenues I see those being successful for a company like Hiya would be a fundraiser for the entire set at a go or Build-a-Bridge releases with repaint figures. Both have advantages and liabilities for both Hiya and we collectors. If I had my druthers I'd probably want more Away Mission playsets that Ship Duties stuff. A Build-a-Hive kit using stuff like JoyToy's playsets (those Medical Alcoves are practically already there) would be amaze-balls.
I *really* want a bunch of armybuilder aliens, tho. Just a pile of random TNG Klingons, Romulans, and Borg; TOS Klingons and Romulans; DS9 Jem'Hadar, Cardassians (I'll even take one with the stupid hat from their first couple of appearances on TNG), and Breen,; VOY Viidians, Hirogen, LOLNOKazon; and far too many individual villains-of-the-week to mention. Star Trek *should* be an evergreen property with never-ending offerings on deck in 18th scale like Star Wars has been, imho.
Watched the Star Trek Day special - they didn't mention Prodigy at all. So weird to try to banish an expression of the franchise, especially when they were/are so heavily focused on animation right now.
Is anyone buying the Exo figures? I read MWCToys Reviews of those and most of them just look slightly off to me. Seven's hair color is atrocious. Rewatching her first episodes I forgot how much I immediately loved her, how good she was from the start and I forgot she had a fake eye, hence her Borg-brow.
And how has no one ever made a full-on Borgified Seven figure?
Should probably be up for pre order at BBTS next week now.
So, is Playmates DOA or what? What a waste of energy!
saw the enterprise-d this morning at target, the box is the same size as the tos one so i figure this will be small.
still surprised they still have not released more figures, heck i still have not seen the prodigy figures in stores.
i remember before the forums went down someone posted some blurry images of new trek figures but odd there was no news about them.
EXO-6 has B’Elanna Torres and Saavik up for pre-order now. Both have two of the better faces of the last while too, imo. Almost tempted to get B'Elanna.
@new-batman I have a copy to that link with the Wave 2 photo you mentioned but I can’t for the life of me seem to be able to link it in my post. Here’s what I copied from bleedingcool.com

Yeah, I dunno WTF's going on with that link, but it appears okay and right-click opens in a new tab *after I quote you and use the link in my comment box*. Weird.
But, based on the uniforms that looks like TNG Worf and Geordie, TOS McCoy or Spock, the frickin' Kaminoan Taun We for some reason in the wrong universe, TNG premiere Judge Q, and TOS Kirk; then TWoK Spock with rad-gloves at his feet. Can't make out the six on the left riser well enough to speculate, beyond seeing a TNG tan uniform in the mix. TNG Data most likely.
@adrienveidt Normally I would just post the picture from my camera roll using Tapatalk but in this new forum I have not been able to so far. The line up on figures is : Worf, Geordie, Spock (Strange New Worlds), Seven of Nine (in Silver Uniform), Pike (Strange New Worlds) and Judge Q.
