@misfit how DARE you answer for me 🤣

It's in my pile of loot but I'll probably wait a bit to ship it. I have so many action figures to open already

@popoman too late. I'll be collecting a fee at the end of the month.

I'm pretty eager to get my hands on this figure myself, but I'm probably going to wait too. I'd rather not contribute anymore than I already have to the volume of packages going around the country right now. Plus, I have two figures from the Naughty or Nice collection expected in January so I'm going to try to hold out for them. This also means Crystar will have to wait.

I've just seen (while looking for other figures) that Piccolo "The Proud Namekian" is due a reissue in May and that Dragonball Bulma (Adventure Begins) is also getting a reissue in July

Is there anywhere to get advance notice of Figuarts reissues? (I missed out on pre-ordering Legendary SSJ Goku and Piccolo (Proud Namekian) as they had both sold out before I could order them to have to hope I can find them in the wild)

I got a bunch of stuff from this line in over the last few weeks:

Son Goku Legendary Super Saiyan is great and one of the best figures they've ever done. He's fun to mess around with and just looks plain awesome. I totally get it if someone doesn't like all of the articulation cuts in the torso as he is bordering on Amazing Yamaguchi levels of ugliness in that respect, but I'm fine with it. Only thing I don't like is, yes, the chest color is off compared to the arms/neck/etc. It's almost not noticeable in natural lighting, but once you do see it you can't unsee it. A paint wash would have probably helped this guy out a lot, plus it would have brought out all of the sculpted battle damage. Maybe they're saving a more aggressive paint job for a future con exclusive?

The dead Son Goku and Super Saiyan 2 Son Gohan event exclusive is a set I'm enjoying way more than I thought. The Goku is the same Goku we've all probably purchased multiple times by now, but I really like Gohan. I didn't get the original so this is my first time getting to play with it and it's a nice little figure. I just wish he had ankle rockers. It almost feels like a waste to just pose him in one-handed Kamehameha mode, but it's not like I have a choice. It's basically the purpose of this release. A good desk figure though to fiddle with in the meantime before he goes on the shelf.

The Raditz and Kid Gohan set is the one I thought I'd like the most, but I'm more lukewarm. Raditz looks mostly good, but I hate these shoulder pads. They really need a better system. The crossed-arms pose basically doesn't work. And my default, stoic, face came with the eyes misprinted. They're too high and go over his eyebrow ridge and they're slightly crooked. His left pupil basically disappears because it's on the underside of his eyebrow ridge. I sent Bandai a picture, but they basically told me it wasn't bad enough to warrant any action on their part. It was my first time dealing with their customer service. Not very good.

The 15th Anniversary Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta is another re-release where it should be very familiar. I have the original Super Saiyan Vegeta as well as the newer Awakening Saiyan Blood or whatever it's called, but I never did get any of the Super Saiyan Blue versions. I basically got the new Super Saiyan Vegeta just so I could display Vegeta as a Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan God, and Super Saiyan Blue so that has worked out fine. Trying to settle on which head I liked where has been tricky though. The Super Saiyan head actually looks really cool on the new body with the yellow straps and gray armor, but I think I'm going to keep that one on the body it came with and put the Blue head on the old Super Saiyan body with the light blue, slightly purple, bodysuit. It's fine though for what it is, but I will say the face printing doesn't look nearly as good as other recent releases. I don't have the old one to compare it to, but maybe they didn't update it at all? The 15th anniversary stand is pretty lame. Just a black disc with no armature that has metallic blue printing on it. It's the same piece as the logo stands they've done in the past so it has spots where you can punch out a hole for a stand, but it sucks that they didn't just include one. Also a bummer that the Blue and God heads don't get more variety in the faceplates. Since this figure is just a reissue they could have added a little something to make it more special, but oh well. This was definitely a release that anyone with the original release probably feels okay with skipping.

Thanks for the summary, Misfit. I think I'm going to pick up LSS Goku... I tend to not collect battle damaged figures but I think this will be the exception. Reviews are too good, it's from a seminal character moment, and now that I've seen the head swaps with Demoniacal Fit's Martialist Forever Goku, I kind of want both to build out a great Regular and SS Goku.

I really don't love any of my 2.0 Goku's...SRoR, Superhero, or Super Saiyin. I strangely prefer the 1.0, for some reason the sculpt looks more iconic to me, even with the bad shoulder/bicep connection. Still love the smiling face, too, he's a great happy/spry Goku.

Though I wonder how long before Bandai puts out a 3.0 base Goku.

I've never liked the 2.0 Goku much either. The sleeves just seem so cheap the way they're pegged in and the range at the shoulders isn't ideal. I feel like Krillin and Super Hero Gohan established a better path forward and I'm surprised we haven't seen a new Goku utilizing the same. What I don't want, however, is a new Goku with the Beast Gohan and Orange Piccolo approach to the gi via an overlay. That doesn't work and I never want to see it again on an SHF release.

It also wouldn't shock me if the LSS bulky upper body gets applied to a battle-damaged Saiyan Saga Goku. They could easily get two figures out of that as one could be a Kaioken Goku.

I'm not a fan of the overlays on these figures either. They didn't need to innovate on Beast Gohan, the perfect articulation set up was on Ultimate Gohan.

3.0 Goku figures can't come soon enough. The roid rage version that just came out is fantastic.

Anyway, I got Trunks the other day, and I'm disappointed in my copy at least. Hips are kinda loose, and the left arm pops out at the bicep frequently. And the purple haired head took the ball joint at the neck with it. When I tried to switch the heads out.

@asm that's been my experience with the Future Trunks figure as well. It's a shame because he looks the part, but the quality control isn't very good. I also don't like how they cut the jacket.

I'm curious how they handled the shoulder pads on him considering there's a cape. Looks like there may be a seam in the cape for where the articulation is. It would probably be more visible on the convention shots from months ago, but I'll just wait to see the full spread of glamour shots tomorrow. Raditz can't do the crossed-arms pose without interfering with the shoulder pads, but maybe they corrected that here? I doubt I'll be interested enough to pay $110 or whatever it ends up being to get him though.

Agreed. Easy pass. He was only in like...twenty pages/ten minutes max? Even including the Broli movie? Nahhh.

Anyway, the new Toyotaro UI Goku looks like a great upgrade from the original.

I really love the more accurate Toriyama colors for the gi and the new faces. I especially like that the new faces *don't* have scratches on them. This will let me use them on the Super Hero Goku body for a non-battle-damaged UI Goku. The encyclopedia is also quite nice according to video reviews I've seen.

There's also this just announced for release in July around $30:

SH-Figuarts-Son-Goku-Effect-Set-001

SH-Figuarts-Son-Goku-Effect-Set-003

SH-Figuarts-Son-Goku-Effect-Set-002

SH-Figuarts-Son-Goku-Effect-Set-005SH-Figuarts-Son-Goku-Effect-Set-004

SH-Figuarts-Son-Goku-Effect-Set-006

The newly updated aura is pretty nice, but I'm not a fan of the rest. I have a much nicer Kamehameha from a 3rd party, and the base on the stand and new head are very unimpressive.

That UI Goku re-release looks like how the 15th anniversary Vegeta should have turned out.

Apparently I was way off on King Cold’s price as he’ll be debuting at $150 bucks, but he comes with a chair!
