@panthercult Excited but they're just hitting at a rough time for Joe collectors
Yeah? The way the Joe team is going there's never going to be a light spending period for Joe collectors, it seems.
But it doesn't impact me as much because I have no room for the Classified scale aircraft so I'm not spending on the HasLab. Much rather toss my money at these figures than an airplane I have no place to put.
I will be hitting that ship button so fast once these drop.
I'll race ya.
There's way more paint on these than I thought. I never noticed the Egyptian eye belt buckles. It makes me think i need the Forgotten King, but I just can't get excited about that one.
The rest, though? I will evict my children to make room for.
Robo just threw gasoline on the ember of desire I had for these.
These do look dope, but I think I will enjoy these vicariously through your pics.
I ended up canceling all of my preorders for this line last night and today here is Robo's video, which I have decided to not watch because I don't want to regret my decisions. I just didn't love the in-hand feel of the two translucent figures I had already bought.

To be fair, almost EVERY translucent figure feels different due to the plastic that's used. It seems it's never the same as the regular plastic/ABS that's generally used on figures.
Y'all are going to be so sad when these end up being on everybody's "best figures of the year" lists...
Nah, I jest, everything can't be for everybody man. There's so much cool stuff being made right now. Every once in awhile I'm llke 'did I make a mistake not going in on those?' ... but then I just have to remember - there's only so much space and there's only so much money. Sometimes the cool stuff can just be admired in other people's pictures.
I think part of my reluctance is that I see cool looking figures from unlicensed properties like this and the initial wow factor grabs me. Let's be honest, these types of figures are usually more well done than the ones we get from our beloved childhood favorite properties.
But then after that wears off (and it always does for me), I'm left with a figure I know nothing about. It just happened to me with Cosmic Legions. I was blown away by how nice they were and how cool they looked but now I rarely look at them like I do my Marvel, MOTU, or GI Joe shelves because there's no nostalgic connection.
It's also that way to a lesser extent with Transformers and Star Wars figures. No childhood connection so they end up just being figures occupying shelf space despite the fact that I thought they were good figures when I first saw them.
Obviously nostalgia isn't THE driving factor for everyone, but for me it seems to be and that's why I'm trying to resist that initial "wow these are cool" because I know later I will most likely regret buying them.
@justice I totally get what you're saying - and I had a very similar reaction to Cosmic Legions (and a lot of Mythic Legions too, frankly)
With Monster Force and Crimson Moon there's a bit of a different hook for me though. Some of the figures - the Forgotten King and Dracula - will work great in a Marvel Legends display. I don't have a good classic Legends Dracula so for now, my MF Dracula is going to be standing in fending off Blade and next to Lilith and Bloodstorm. The Forgotten King is going to slide in next to Moon Knight for now.
And then the troopers with their alternate heads are going to be paired with the Crimson Moon fellows to make up the Red Shadows faction to face off against my G.I. Joe Classified contingent. These figures aren't going into a display of their own, they are going to augment my existing collections with cool support pieces.
I love the idea of those Red Shadows characters and being able to build a contingent of those from Fresh Monkey Fiction is what really dragged me into this line. I'm actually way less into the whole monster part of it, frankly - though a spare werewolf head here and a vampire there may come in handy for some Legends kitbashing.
Keeping my Eraser and Dr. Caligari figures just for the horror aspects and they'll mix in with GI Joe Classified somewhat. The vampire SWAT team members did intrigue me as they kinda have an Underworld vibe to them. I may circle back and see if they stick around as those might be fun to army build a small squad of.
But then after that wears off (and it always does for me), I'm left with a figure I know nothing about.
Where MF really hits for me is that they're such iconic concepts, even if you don't know the lore, you still understand vampire special forces vs. zombie soldiers. I know the Invisible Man and Van Helsing, it's just in this case they're in tactical gear.
Compare that with Action Force where, despite how much I like the figures, I could barely tell you the military specially or roll for any of them.
So while I'm not all-in on this line, they do immediately create a story in my head, and I'm definitely in for the figures that tell that story.
Kind of interesting is that I've seen posts here stating their favorite figure of the line is one I don't want. There are just so many different stories to tell with these archetypes that you only have to be interested in one.
Cosmic Legions, meanwhile, is unintelligible to me. Sure they're well made, but I don't know who's who or who does what in the official lore, and I'm not inspired by any one of them to create my own. It's just kind of figure noise. At least give me some human figures so I have a point of reference.
I thought about grabbing a second Dracula and taking off the coat and see how that looks.
You'd be one Mr. Legacy arm-swap away from a dressed down, eff you up Dracula.
I get the need for a fictional reference point, but most of the toys I remember as a kid were things that I discovered the plot after the figures. I can wait for the story, and ignore it if I dont like it. I honestly like cosmic legions more because I dont feel married to any particular fiction and can just sort of make it up in my mind based on the minor plot points they give us in the bios.
I’m keeping my urban trooper preorder since it looks like a Range Viper to me. Range Vipers are my favorite Viper, so any alternate takes are welcome in my book. Might pick up another (Eraser) if I like the first in hand.
