Crossover company figures notwithstanding, I hope this line sticks around for a good amount of time. Not "shelf warming," but the more I see, the more I want to go all-in, but I can't afford to do that all at once, if it's "grab it all at once or lose out on sell-outs..." 😕
@buttmunch thanks for posting that. I got in a pre-order while it was back open, but looks like it’s closed again.
I’ll be curious to see what sellouts look like for this line. I think Kilowarg is the first pre-sellout for MF. I can’t recall if any of their Santa’s ever pre-sold out but I think some of the more popular ones didn’t hang around very long once they hit.
just received my translucent Dracula/Forgotten King from BBTS. I think im all in. This was the tipping point for me. In-hand these figures feel and look great. Some of it might be the translucent plastic, but still. The plastic is soft and loose but not gummy or wobbly. It feels like an old school out the package figure. Where it felt easy to manipulate but sturdy. Unlike nowadays u get a figure and it feels like its going to break when you touch it. It reminds me of a 90s Toy biz figure.
and i really like how they scale with the Gi Joe Classifieds, Action Force and Marvel legends on my shelf. They are essentially the same size
For those wondering, the ball joint on the neck is bigger on these than on the Hisstank Cobra Commander. So a little blue tack would be needed to make an upcoming hooded head work, assuming neither neck joints change before either is released.
Thanks for checking that. Better too big than too small, amIright, ladies?
I wonder if it fits any better on the Wave 1 Cobra Commander. It isn't out of the question to have a regal hooded version for addressing the troops AND a helmeted battle version for calling retreat.
Lol well, when it comes to action figures, I feel it's better to have a larger hole than a larger peg.
If the hole is bigger, you can easily fill it in with a LOT (I prefer hot glue, some go for blue tac, though I've found black tac is heartier, especially during this summer heat).
But if the peg is too big, you have to permanently alter one of them, peg or hole.
Have I said "hole" too many times?
Hole.
So, as a big fan of the burgeoning FMF 6" universe of offerings - are we thinking separate threads for each of the various brands or one big FMF 6" cross universe brand - or a little of each.
Obviously we already have a separate thread for the Naughty Or Nice Collection apart from this one, which seems appropriate.
But - Operation Monster Force and Order of the Crimson Moon seem to be distinct line titles from FMF but have essentially been treated as one line of figures. And I think that makes sense considering - Crimson Moon has some shared parts with Monster Force - and carries on the monster theme with werewolf soldiers and what not.
But, with their latest reveals showing off their Soldiers of Fortune line - is that going to deserve it's own separate thread or is that also going to be treated as a sister/sub line of OMF? It seems like it is going to be monster free and so probably will be it's own thing.
And then COPS and Crooks - almost certainly that should get its own distinct thread once there is more news than just the single teased figure, right?
I'm a big fan of what FMF is doing, but I want to be respectful with discussion and not be gushing about Soliders of Fortune in this thread if it doesn't belong here since it gots no monsters. I think there is likely to be a lot of cross pollinating between the various lines - which would make one meta FMF thread attractive for some - but it also might make more sense to keep distinct threads for the individual brands.
@panthercult I really don't care for general threads. It sometimes gets confusing if multiple conversations are going on and I think having each line's name in the title draws attention to a line that some of us might not have heard of.
That's fair. I do think it's cleaner. It's just that so far all of the Fresh Monkey Fiction 6 inch talk has taken place in this thread because the news is sort of jumbled together and the other lines are theoretical.
There are threads for most of the other lines:
Cops:
Voyagers:
Naughty or Nice:
Just not Soldiers of Fortune

Its been mentioned in interviews that Order of the Crimson Moon is a prequel of sorts to Operation Monster Force. Its what was happening in that world in the 70s i believe. Wave 2 of Order of the Crimson Moon has Declan Van Helsings (of wave 1 Monster Force) dad Adrian Van Helsing.
Fair enough - thanks for the reminder, and now there's one for SoF too. So we're all good with discreet threads for discreet topics. But we're agreed that Monster Force and Crimson Moon are the same, right?
I'd say leave Operation Monster Force and Order of the Crimson Moon together. FMF has stated that Order and Operation are the same universe, Order is in the 70's and Operation is the current time frame.
Yeah, I know Hiss Tank is treating them as separate lines which is fair, but it's pretty much the same line.
Don't know if this helps.
