@thewyldman, is there more to Soldiers of Fortune? I'm in for Monster Force because of all the gonzo characters and monster soldiers. SoF just looked like generic soldiers made using all the generic soldier parts from MF.
Does SoF have, like, lore or a storyline?

@fletch I think SOF is mostly just generic troop building stuff for customers though they are teasing some story with the Agents of Omega. With it being a line for troop builders and customizers, Grid Iron makes more sense to include there considering the company mostly focused on upgrading existing figures.
I've ordered a couple of these guys off BBTS, and waiting until I get them in-hand before I order more. The monsters vs. soldiers aesthetic is right up my alley, but before I double down on werewolves in jetpacks, I want to get a couple of these guys in hand.*

FMF is hyping up a big reveal day on June 1 for their Crimson Moon sub-line. Looks like they’re doing the same as their 4” offerings with the Baron and Major having their heads swapped. The Red Jackal figure is interesting. Did they do that for 4”? Seems awfully close to Destro to keep skirting the “homage loophole” like the others. But I’m super excited to see what all they’ve got lined up.
@boy_wonder they have a bit more shown off in their Fresh Monkey Fiction Fan facebook group. Baron Ironblood looks very good but it looks like his Helmet might come with *sigh* a zombie crimson shadow trooper instead of BLack Major.
Yeah really surprised to see Red Jackal in that post. I figured he and Red Laser wouldn't be part of this line for obvious reasons. I'll be curious to see what the figure version looks like and how different from Destro it ends up looking like when revealed. I figured they'd give him a very different metal head or something.

Yeah, the sneak peaks all look really great, but it’s going to be real annoying if that’s the only way to get that helmet. But at this point I’m all in.
I like those troopers more than the wave 1 Monster Force versions. I’d feel bad about canceling those in favor of the Crimson Moon troops, especially since MF wave 1 is so close and the Crimson Moon wave is probably so far away, but that might be was happens.
@boy_wonder the Crimson Moon sleepwalkers do come with a secret accessory which is just the normal red shadows helmet. Still on the fence with those myself thoh. I can use them as officers or whatever but I don't really care for the scifi weapons.
Yeah, I don't want to cancel anything because it seems like wave 2 sold weakly with this Crimson Shadows line requiring 500 unit minimums. It's just hard to order stuff at $36.99 when you aren't entirely sold on it. Vala dropping his stuff down to $30 was a great move and I'd love to see Fresh Monkey try it for the army builders like the Crimson Moon Trooper where I'm gonna want alot, because it's looking like I might be supplementing my 1/12 Red Shadows with Vala's Crimson Shadow robot dues.
Since the majority of this Crimson Moon wave seems to share a lot of tooling with wave 1 of Monster Force, I wonder what the likelihood is that it’ll come out in 2025 rather than like all the way in 2026. That 2025 release date for the generals always has me scared about how far off they plan these releases. A year always feels like a decent meeting point for these smaller company figure runs.
That’s probably a nice thing about the Naughty or Nice line, they have kind of a definitive yearly deadline to attempt to meet.
Crimson Moon is cute and all, but it's no Monster Force. I don't have any nostalgia at all for Palitoy, so these homages mean little to me. Meanwhile, Monster Force has a brain-in-a-jar mad scientist named Dr. Caligari who created an army of Sleepwalkers by fitting them with somnambulant gas and sending them off to do his bidding. I am absolutely stoked for those figures.
However, I do have a soft spot for would-be-despots who wear straight up buckets on their heads. It's like Count Binface got an action figure.

I’m loving them. In for everybody except maybe the Exterminator. Only buying the Legionnaire for the helmet, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.

@thewyldman I was wondering if that’s what they were going for. If that’s the case then I guess I’m in for all of them, haha. I was debating if Red Laser was different enough from the Troopers to justify another purchase.

They probably only dare risking Hasbro’s attention so much with not-Destro. It’s possible that Red Laser still might have a hood in the final product.
@buttmunch I'm still surprised red jackal comes with the destro head and they didn't toss it in with like the trooper
