I just hope Disney doesn't get too interested in brand synergy and start demanding changes to the comics and figures that I currently only care about.

That is always a fear. But likely not one for the short term. Assuming this actually gets made, because sometimes projects can languish in development hell... if the SAG strike ends tomorrow (it won't), then the soonest this thing would hit is 2026. So for the next year or so, the stuff we care about is safe.

Short term, this is a boon for the figures and the comics. It definitely puts the franchise back in the limelight, and more people might start buying the comic books and the NECA toys today and tomorrow than otherwise might have been.

And the remaster of the video game is dropping, too.

I could potentially see one of the comic lines being replaced by one that's in the universe of this new endeavor, but probably not the main line. I'm sure there's a natural end point for Dark Ages anyway, and any new comic for this show might just be a one-shot prequel story at first to test the waters. As for NECA, I would not at all be surprised if they did figures for the new show. Probably nothing crazy upfront, think of their approach with The Munsters, and if it's a success then they would go further. It doesn't seem like any of the live-action movies the studio has churned out over the years has affected merch of the old versions much. You can still walk into Target and buy a live-action Ariel doll or an animated one. It's just here we're dealing with a much smaller market so, yeah, if NECA does devote even a small amount of resources to the new version it likely would impact the existing line at least in the short term. Come 2026 though, who knows if this line is really churning out new sculpts though? It might not matter.

Dark Ages is a mini-series.  The main series ends at #12, but their are already subsequent series announced, such as one focusing on Demona.

Live action Gargoyles could be fun, but if Gregg Weismann isn’t involved, it’s already taken a hit in my eyes.  Honestly though, this is an “I’ll believe when I see it” situation.  This isn’t the first time a live action adaption has made the rounds.

Keep in mind that if Disney puts resources into a new Gargoyle live action franchise they may well license tie-in toys to a bigger retail partner than NECA.

That's worth worrying about. Considering how the quality of Marvel Legends have fallen, NECA losing this to Hasbro.

If it's a show aimed at adults then I wouldn't expect a big push for toys. It will likely stay in the "collector" market and I doubt NECA would be shut out. If anything, multiple parties could end up producing figures for it. It doesn't look like Disney prioritizes exclusivity with much of their brands aside from the very big ones:  Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney Princess. And even with Marvel and Star Wars, they'll let the collector brands get a piece so long as they're basically just more expensive than Legends and not sold at the big retail partners.

Good to see them showing off the full clan as much as they are, they definitely have a lot of confidence in the line.  Hoping Lex hits Target.com or onto shelves pretty quickly then. I want to mess around with those wings, figure out how well those work on him.

That upward punch from Xanatos gave me a chuckle.

First,  I think its doubtful a Disney+ show will be aimed at adults.   Maybe it won't be young kid focused,  but certainly I think they'll be trying to cast a wide net.

And while I think NECA would still be able to make the figures of the cartoon as they've been doing, I think Disney would at least try to get a Hasbro or Mattel on board for a figure line related to the show.    Maybe not... but I was thinking along the lines of how Dungeons and Dragons worked.    NECA has been doing a line of figures related to the old D&D figure line -  but when the movie dropped Hasbro handled those figures themselves.    I guess it doesn't really matter that much, ultimately.

Found Davey & Lex last night.

Still missing armored Riker & Robogoyle (which I'd like two of).

Also grabbed Elisa a firearm off eBay. It was labeled "1/12" but the pic used a NECA Dutch & I figured Arnie has bigger hands than her, and while I can't imagine giving him it given that fact, it fits nicely in her hand. I shouldn't have had to do that, Disney. But at least it wasn't super difficult or expensive.

Awesome, I was hoping he’d start showing up. Here’s hoping I’ll come across one while I have a 15% coupon.

Yep, Lex & Xanatos were on the NECA endcap at one of my Targets with the new Macready, Black Lagoon Creature, Toon Space Usagi Yojimbo and Mirage Casey Jones. Same store was out of Space Bunnies this morning, but there were still a few of everyone else left.

A different store this morning had 3 Steel Clan, and they were in my budget, so I grabbed the two I was striving for.
