I mostly just lurk on this thread, but I agree with blankslate. People kinda overreacted to some very anecdotal stuff that is completely fine to share.
I've got armored Xanatos and Elisa in my Pile of Loot. Holding off on shipping for a few weeks just in case any of the others happen to arrive.
My takeaway is definitely not "don't share sensitive info." I say bring it on to all of that stuff! I'm definitely interested in the health of the lines I'm collecting, even if it's unlikely to affect my behavior as a consumer. It's still "nice to know" plus it's something to talk about.
@misfit And I'm not one of those people that needs to be right, in spite of my own interests. If what I hear is wrong, and the line continues--AWESOME. I'm happy. More Gargoyles.
I don't want this info to be accurate. But if it is, like you said, it's something to discuss. We can lament the loss of a great toyline together, and wishlist, and wonder where it went wrong like an old relationship.
If you're having to clarify yourself "three different times" then...no, I'd say that's on you.
And yes, it's good to discuss how the line's doing, but I think there's better ways than "I heard from a guy it's dead and doing poorly" when there seems to be clear evidence to the contrary. There's a buttload of toylines that wish they could have gone as far as Gargoyles has at this point.
@detrimental-fig I'd say, dummy, you were the first person to pipe up and rudely say "I don't believe you". And that I called you and SalemCrow out as being a pair of cockbags, so you have a bone to pick.
That someone else even agreed that others took the information and ran with it, and that another person agrees that we should all be able to discuss the rumor mill...well, that tells me all I need to know. Shut up and sit down.
You need to wrap your head around the idea that sometimes, junior, the news you hear, might not always be the news you *want* to hear. So, yeah, the line IS pumping out a bunch of goodies. That's great. You like the line, too. Awesome. That doesn't translate to sales, which are vital to the success of most toylines.
Edit: Ah, see. And RIGHT THERE, you demonstrated exactly what happened. Thank you, dummy. Thank you SO much for providing a shining example. Lol, Christ. Not what I said. Good job.
Oh boy. "We got a badass over here"
If you really knew anything about sales then you'd know there wouldn't be as many figures out now as there have been. Let alone all the unique tooling. The deeper character selection, too, would counter that little rumor of yours. NECA doesn't typically put this much work into a line that isn't meeting their sales expectations. Let alone do a giant building display at Toy Fair for it.
@detrimental-fig No, actually...it doesn't, ya fuckin' idiot. Randy/NECA also went all in on Planet of the Apes, which failed miserably. They do that on occasion.
You're the kind of guy that judges how a line is doing based off of what you personally see in your Walmart, huh?
Ya see, you don't have to believe what I said. That is fine. It really isn't a personal affront to me that you don't believe something that I heard that I'm just spreading info on.
But HOW you disagree, and basically accuse me of lying or making it up? THAT I have a problem with.
What a charmer. Why wouldn't anyone believe him? Yeesh.
@detrimental-fig Okay, deflecting now. That's where you're at. Good job. This has been super productive.
For what it’s worth the most recent reveals for the line have been:
-a two pack of rereleases, but not straight rereleases you need to buy both it and the originals to get all the characters’ pieces.
-a soft goods costume variant rerelease, but not straight rereleases you need to buy both it and the original to get all the character’s pieces. (They also said Detective Broadway would be a store exclusive, something they originally planned not to do, which means he gonna have a lower run.)
-a repaint in a $170 box set for a $15 game.
-two characters we’ve known were coming for over a year, still not up for pre-order yet, who’s placards said “Q2 2024” that means absolute best case scenario ignoring rereleases the next “new” figures are seven months (more likely 10+) away.
-Gabriel, who did not have a placard, is referred to as a “potential new figure” by Stefan in the “Yes Have Some” walkthrough video, and who is an absolute head scratcher of a choice for the line this early. He’s no one’s favorite character (he’s in three episodes and does nothing, he’s not in horny fan art, go on the Gargoyle boards and they’re even like “why him?”) He only makes sense if he’s preuse to get a generic “average build” male Gargoyle buck in the line.
like it or not that rumor has merit! The line may be continuing but it’s thriving.
Randy may want to do accessories packs, the Pack, and “everything (they’re) doing with turtles” but that’s not what was at the shows, I’m sure if you asked Randy he had big plans for the DC Vs line, Shaw Brothers, and Planet of the Apes too “if support was there”
The line might not be dead, but we should be looking at Gremlins, The Thing, IT, and at best movie TMNT as the template NOT Toon TMNT going forward of what to expect.
I don't think that indicates the rumor has any merit at all. Again, all of that still shows the strength the line has going for it and counters the rumor. Nothing is going to be like Toon TMNT. That's a runaway success on a different level. But the Gargoyles line has been getting a lot more love than even Apes.
And release dates with this line don't mean much of anything at this point. Everyone was wondering when the line was going to really "get on with it" after Goliath and then it was just one after another and now we have this deluge. Even D&D, which has been selling really well for them, won't be getting anything new shown off past Elkhorn until 2024. They do have to space out these releases.

He kind of pairs with Angela, no? I could be confusing him with another gargoyle. I'm guessing he has a lot of reuse though. Probably just a new head and maybe some overlays. He seems like a market tester to see what the interest is like for non-Manhattan Clan gargoyles that aren't killer cyborgs with cool sculpts.
Finally! Took weeks for me to re-register on this forum. So many technical issues.
I'm not going to speculate on how well the line is doing. I tend to think that if they set that amount of space with a display like that at Toy Fair, they must have hopes for it. Saying that fans need to keep supporting the line doesn't strike me as a warning of low sales, but it's common sense... fans need to support every line. Even Hasbro says things about fans supporting lines if they want things like comic figures as opposed to MCU figures. So I'm not worried at this point in time.
Macbeth looks badass, and I cannot wait to see what kind of weapons he comes with. I am guessing his iconic "lightning gun", and it looks like there's a spot for a dagger in his boot. And based on the silhouette, I am guessing a replica of Excalibur from "Pendragon" ... which maybe means a King Arthur figure down the line if the line keeps doing well.
Gabriel was a bit of a headscratcher, but I think he makes sense. The line is called "Gargoyles"... so I am not surprised they'd prioritize figures of characters that are gargoyles. After the Manhattan Clan (Goliath, Hudson, Bronx, Brooklyn, Broadway, Lexington, and Angela) and after Demona and Thailog... Gabriel is the next most prominent gargoyle. He was in four episodes... whereas Ophelia was in three episodes, Griff was in two episodes, and others like Una, Leo, the Ishimuran and Mayan Clans, and the other clones were in one episode. So I get it... though I would have expected a gargoyle-like character like Talon first.
I'm glad the Pack are on the radar. And I'm glad Randy mentioned accessory sets... because those A-shaped wings are the smartest things they could put out there. The demand for them has been loud. And justified.
Finally had a few minutes to take a couple pics of Eliza and Xanatos today.
Thanks to McFarlane's second firearm set for the pistol.
