I'm willing to bet they end up getting those final figures out, regardless.  NECA rarely likes to leave nearly complete figures undone.  They'll end up an online exclusive or something, and that'll be just fine.

we have official confirmation the line is dead!!!!

no offense to Rick’s Nerd Life or ToyCollectr, but Mike Puzzo actually works on the line! This is the first source at NECA to say it’s over!

Closure is nice to have, even if it isn’t the answer we want!

the interview is 3 hours long and no offense to the host or Mike, but, I ain’t listening to all that.

I scrubbed around and found part where Mike talks about Gargoyles (in passing, in context of how proud he was his Coldstone paint job was featured on the cover of the first ToyCollectr, as well he should have been) saying sales faded so NECA “gave up the license”, now I’m not gonna listen to the whole interview to see if that’s ever expanded on because, I’m sorry I can’t (if someone else wanted to please post time codes or a description here!) but “gave up the license” is such a weird phrase…

I’d love to know if Disney or NECA made the choice to “give up the license” based on sales. If it’s Disney, that’s it, line’s dead forever, they blew it! (like Super7 and Simpsons) If it was NECA saying “sales aren’t where we need to pay to renew the license”, there’s a chance no matter how slim they could revisit in the future (like they’re doing with PotA and Gremlins, even if neither has lead to unreleased figures getting out yet) but if they did we’d probably see the prototypes at a Con first, not just gonna drop out of the blue.

So I’m happy I can stop checking my emails for a surprise NECA store drop or Big Bad every afternoon to see if they’re finally up… I’m… free! Sweet horrible, terrible freedom!

I’m very happy with what we got: the entire Manhattan clan with no missing members, Elisa, both forms of Xanatos… The Coldstone on the cover of ToyCollectr is nearly 1:1 scale so I’ll probably get a nice acrylic magazine stand and display that behind my figures (takes up less space!)… and a Macbeth custom is just a 3D head print on a Deathstroke or Blade (have you ever noticed Wesley Snipes Blade is dressed more like Macbeth than comic Blade at the time?!) so that’s easy to take care of if the line is dead forever…

My Gargoyles collection wouldn’t be made more complete with the mutates, the Pack, the Children of Oberon… it’s just “More” and I’m fine having what I have be it!

thanks for being awesome NECA Gargoyles! I’ll miss you!

thanks for being ALMOST awesome NECA Gargoyles! I’ll miss you!

So... I added the emphasis above.   Obviously I am not surprised to see confirmation that the Gargoyles line is over -  it was fairly obvious at this point.

I really wanted to love this line of figures.  I loved the Gargoyles cartoon and I really enjoyed the styling of the figures they went with - not overly 'cartoony'.     But the short sightedness to not include folded "at rest" wings for the figures is a sore spot I can't get over.     I would love to have a nice tight display of the Manhattan Clan together, but I can only do that if I take off most of their wings.   If the figures had included a folded set of wings in addition to the spread wings the figures would have been amazing and I would be singing the line's praises.

Ah well -  now to decide if I display my Manhattan Clan mostly wingless or just get rid of them...

I'm assuming this is a NECA thing and not Disney. Weisman has been doing the interview circuit about how happy Disney has been with comic sales, how the franchise's profile seems to be rising in the company - they have a lot of stuff in the works. And, despite some of the snide comments about the FF crossover above, Disney and Marvel asked for it because of Gargoyles' rising popularity and the FF's major movie coming out this summer.

So, yeah, maybe there's a ceiling for the figures that is lower than the one for the comics. Maybe it was the wings all along. Could be a number of things.

We'll see how Mondo does.

I still can't believe they wont just put the two remaining Gargoyles' relaxed wings in a pack before it's done.  They've already shown they were sculpted etc.  As a toy collector-focussed business, you're think NECA would be adamant about relative completionism for their image.  Maybe we never get MacBeth, Gabriel or Coldstone, but everyone else gets relaxed wings except for 2?  I don't know how this engenders confidence in other lines not just having the plug pulled on them.
