I'm willing to bet they end up getting those final figures out, regardless.  NECA rarely likes to leave nearly complete figures undone.  They'll end up an online exclusive or something, and that'll be just fine.

we have official confirmation the line is dead!!!!

no offense to Rick’s Nerd Life or ToyCollectr, but Mike Puzzo actually works on the line! This is the first source at NECA to say it’s over!

Closure is nice to have, even if it isn’t the answer we want!

the interview is 3 hours long and no offense to the host or Mike, but, I ain’t listening to all that.

I scrubbed around and found part where Mike talks about Gargoyles (in passing, in context of how proud he was his Coldstone paint job was featured on the cover of the first ToyCollectr, as well he should have been) saying sales faded so NECA “gave up the license”, now I’m not gonna listen to the whole interview to see if that’s ever expanded on because, I’m sorry I can’t (if someone else wanted to please post time codes or a description here!) but “gave up the license” is such a weird phrase…

I’d love to know if Disney or NECA made the choice to “give up the license” based on sales. If it’s Disney, that’s it, line’s dead forever, they blew it! (like Super7 and Simpsons) If it was NECA saying “sales aren’t where we need to pay to renew the license”, there’s a chance no matter how slim they could revisit in the future (like they’re doing with PotA and Gremlins, even if neither has lead to unreleased figures getting out yet) but if they did we’d probably see the prototypes at a Con first, not just gonna drop out of the blue.

So I’m happy I can stop checking my emails for a surprise NECA store drop or Big Bad every afternoon to see if they’re finally up… I’m… free! Sweet horrible, terrible freedom!

I’m very happy with what we got: the entire Manhattan clan with no missing members, Elisa, both forms of Xanatos… The Coldstone on the cover of ToyCollectr is nearly 1:1 scale so I’ll probably get a nice acrylic magazine stand and display that behind my figures (takes up less space!)… and a Macbeth custom is just a 3D head print on a Deathstroke or Blade (have you ever noticed Wesley Snipes Blade is dressed more like Macbeth than comic Blade at the time?!) so that’s easy to take care of if the line is dead forever…

My Gargoyles collection wouldn’t be made more complete with the mutates, the Pack, the Children of Oberon… it’s just “More” and I’m fine having what I have be it!

thanks for being awesome NECA Gargoyles! I’ll miss you!

thanks for being ALMOST awesome NECA Gargoyles! I’ll miss you!

So... I added the emphasis above.   Obviously I am not surprised to see confirmation that the Gargoyles line is over -  it was fairly obvious at this point.

I really wanted to love this line of figures.  I loved the Gargoyles cartoon and I really enjoyed the styling of the figures they went with - not overly 'cartoony'.     But the short sightedness to not include folded "at rest" wings for the figures is a sore spot I can't get over.     I would love to have a nice tight display of the Manhattan Clan together, but I can only do that if I take off most of their wings.   If the figures had included a folded set of wings in addition to the spread wings the figures would have been amazing and I would be singing the line's praises.

Ah well -  now to decide if I display my Manhattan Clan mostly wingless or just get rid of them...

I'm assuming this is a NECA thing and not Disney. Weisman has been doing the interview circuit about how happy Disney has been with comic sales, how the franchise's profile seems to be rising in the company - they have a lot of stuff in the works. And, despite some of the snide comments about the FF crossover above, Disney and Marvel asked for it because of Gargoyles' rising popularity and the FF's major movie coming out this summer.

So, yeah, maybe there's a ceiling for the figures that is lower than the one for the comics. Maybe it was the wings all along. Could be a number of things.

We'll see how Mondo does.

I still can't believe they wont just put the two remaining Gargoyles' relaxed wings in a pack before it's done.  They've already shown they were sculpted etc.  As a toy collector-focussed business, you're think NECA would be adamant about relative completionism for their image.  Maybe we never get MacBeth, Gabriel or Coldstone, but everyone else gets relaxed wings except for 2?  I don't know how this engenders confidence in other lines not just having the plug pulled on them.

And there they are, the wings NECA should have given us. I will forever say, there should have been three sets of wings.

1. The wings Mondo has the good sense to be doing (I bet they've read all the comments NECA was receiving)
2. The cloaked wings
3. The spread gliding wings... but these should have been in an accessory pack.

Adds diversity to the display. I still love my NECA figures, but I think we'd have gotten Coldstone and Macbeth if not for the wings.

I love the Gargoyles stuff but I already own essentially everything NECA gave us from that IP.  I'm not starting over, let alone with Mondo prices.  They look good though Bronx just looks like a good-looking slug stand-in prop.

For $250+ Mondo better give you every goddamn set of wings possible.

NECA did what they could for $40, and I’m going to 100% honest: I don’t think the wings killed the NECA line, Trump did.

the Gargoyles, Dinosaurs, Universal Monsters, D&D were already more expensive than other NECA Ultimates, and now those regular base level NECA Ultimates cost $45 each, those lines were doing fine, NECA just saw the writing on the walls and knew no one was buying Francine Sinclair or Owen Bennett for Fifty Five Goddamn Dollars.

if D&D was a failure, why are they getting Ben Cooper costumes?! (Cheaper to make!)

if Gargoyles was a failure was did Mondo persure the license?! (Oh no, see the problem was NECA Gargoyles took up too much horizontal space, so our solution is to take up just as much with folded wings AND three times as much horizontal space)

Dinsoaurs failed?! Well let’s make Classic Munsters!!! (No this isn’t because we can cheaply squeeze then out using the movie bucks! It’s because there’s clearly more life in a high concept sitcom from the 60’s than the 90’s that requires 100% new sculpts on every character…)

Two Headed Turtle and Metaluna Krang are listed as “Q2 2026” that’s some real Macbeth and Coldstone release dating there, those fuckers aren’t getting released (also note they’re not co-branded anymore, no more Universal just Turtle, probably to cut cost if they do get out) just pretending the line isn’t dead to sell Dracushredders, just like Macbeth and Coldstone probably pushed a lot of Detective Broadways and Vows sets

don’t know if they’re saving some for a surprise for later in the weekend but the fact we’re only seeing Grover means Sesame Street is probably also in “wait and see” mode… (honestly the amount of pictures I see of Bert and Ernie pointing guns in people’s faces I wouldn’t be surprised if Children’s Television Workshop rips that license away from NECA first chance they get and it legit ends the line)

Gremlins came back… still no Veggie Gremlin

Apes came back… not even a reissue wave 2 with ol’ Corny

NBX came back… not even a deluxe Santy or Oogie

NECA is in cost cutting mode to try and not go the way of Palisades under this administration

anyway, Mondo!

I’m gonna get Demona and Goliath and that’s it, I honestly don’t see the line going much deeper than the Manhattan clan, their Batman and X-Men lines don’t even go that deep!

and to what end is my life made better or more complete owning a 1/6 scale the Pack anyway?

Nah, if I want more Gargoyles I’ll keep hoping for *he* just doesn’t wake up one day soon, and the first thing the couch fucker does is remove the tariffs so NECA figures cost $38 again… then maybe we’ll get some more Gargle figures to enjoy.

Kinda sucks Bronx is a statue, but kinda even with Mondo you’re buying Bronx to get Goliath’s cape, so much for learning from NECA.

it would be cool if Demona came with floating seated Puck wrapped in chains as her little buddy figure… I think that could be fudged into the NECA collection… and now that I say that, I bet Lex is a statue figure too.

glad Goliath is regular ass Goliath and not a “Mondoverse” version, I like NECA’s are more comic/realistic whatever you want to call them stylized so I don’t need two “original takes” on the character…

I’m trying to be good and didn’t buy Savage Lands Rogue because I know Demona pretty much checks all the same boxes… so Mondo better not let me down!

so yeah, cool 1:6 scale Goliath! It’s just like what we got from NECA spread over three releases but bigger and costing more than all three of NECA’s Goliath’s combined!

@doc-baghead wow... a lot to take in there...

Not to get too political, but the Gargoyles line was dead before any tariffs happened.

As for Sesame Street showings, they are showing 5 unsolicited figures that are still in preproduction phase. Big Bird appears to be getting tweaks made to the sculpt frim when we first saw him as is Oscar. They may adjust Herry based on feedback from Toy Fair as well. I am sure we will see these go up for order with Q3.

That being said, the uncertainty of import tariffs is causing smaller companies like NECA to be cautious and leading to lines that dont have major retail support to die on the vine. Hopefully Target ponies up the cash and put in some big orders for the next set of sesame figures.

I am probably a few of the photos you saw lol. It is just so much fun to have them do things they will never go.

RIP Gargoyles. Super sad about MacBeth.
