Hope the line continues—I’d still love to get Coldstone, Macbeth, and Coyote!!
It may be the first day, but unless it's a whole new line announcement, they typically don't withhold existing licenses until the weekend. There's no spinning it: no Gargoyles at SDCC is a bad sign. It ain't over till it's over, and there's always NYCC where the franchise is a more natural fit, but I'm firmly in "cross my fingers what we saw comes out" mode and not expecting much. NECA is still showing stuff for other Disney licenses so at least that relationship doesn't appear to be in the toilet like it was with Super7.
And as an aside, if Coldstone gets cancelled should we start talking about a Toy Collector Mag curse? That would be two cover features that I can think of that never saw release (Super7 Simpsons Wave 5 being the other one).
Only really want Hudson's wings, MacBeth and maybe Owen left from this line. If I get that I'll be pleased.
Okay, signs of life. Now NECA could be dancing around, but if Robo says he heard it then I believe him.
I know I’m a total worrywart in this thread, buuuut… I’m going to believe them when they saw Macbeth and Coldstone are coming for two reasons:
1- Gargoyles was a no show, but EVERY. NEW. LICENSE. from the last few years had ZERO new product. D&D, Dinosaurs, ALF*, DC Toony Classics (which Randy said would be at least four characters!)… you’re telling me, they ALL tripped and fell right out the gates?! I think these all made the cut for the display since they have exclusives on sale at show or Walmart’s little on line thing.
*yeah this is the first time we’re seeing “Totally 80’s ALF” but he was leaked with a full accessories list by Best Buy along with the Vows two pack and Black Robe Ultimate Saw, he ain’t “new” just not shown yet!
2-In Pixel Dan’s TMNT walk through, Trevor *really* stresses the B&W Monster Turtles are fillers to buy more time and that there’s going to be more monsters and new characters later in the year and the line isn’t over… which feels sort of like what the Vows two pack and Detective Broadway are doing for Gargoyles.
So yeah, maybe this is just massive amounts of cope on my part, but I like the odds we get Macbeth and Coldstone “soon”
Well, yeah, definitely believe Robo. He's not going to lie about what NECA is saying. Doesn't mean a whole lot though. Toy companies use that line or similar lines all of the time when something is up in the air. I personally think we still have a very good chance of getting the figures we've already seen as NECA pushes past the Manhattan Clan. How well those figures do, plus variants of the popular characters, will likely determine their path forward. If there is one. NECA typically uses SDCC to show off the stuff planned for the rest of the calendar year, so if nothing is close to release they may just bypass it and come back at NYCC. And they do flood the market at Halloween with their other properties so factory space is probably tight right now. I think NYCC is when we will know for sure (even though I doubt NECA outright confirms anything) what the future of this line is.
There's definitely more characters to be made...but I wonder if the scale and overdone detailing on these figures kinda doomed the line in a way.
They don't look super screen accurate, they take up waaay too much shelf space, the wings weren't articulated to allow for more poses (and I think that would have really helped)...etc.
Hopefully Gabe, Macbeth and especially Coldstone get made.
For me the detailing was a plus, not a minus - it was the damn wings that killed this line. The figures are undisplayable as a group unless you mutilate them - which makes for a garbage collection. Someone at NECA should have thought of that from the get go (because I certainly did and commented on it immediately).
Articulated wings or even "at rest" wings - collapsed but not 'caped' - is what I was looking for. A way to display the entire clan in one group shot. That's all I wanted. To do that now I have to butcher them by plucking their wings off like some sadist.
Agreed. The only negative surrounding the line has been about those wings. Articulated wings should have been a thing with the wing capes maybe coming the way they did. That alone would have sold so many more on the line. Even Hasbro acknowledges shelf space is a premium.
These are my only unboxed figures as of this past weekend. I refuse to open them until I;
A) Get a Mansion
B) Get relaxed wings as an accessory pack.
I don't complain about room like some, as I have the luxury of an entire room but...I'm out of room.
There’s nothing wrong with the level of detailing on these figures, it’s what the characters are supposed to look like when not simplified for animation.
that said I would buy animation accurate Gargoyles, but I don’t want them from NECA… I want them from Mondo.
First, c’mon their 1:6 BTAS and X-Men and upcoming RGB look closer to the animation source material than NECA’s Toon TMNT, so if you’re ordering a steak why settle for Choice when you can get Prime.
Second, they’ll charge a fucking insane price for something if they need to as evidenced by $101 (it’s the and one dollar that really fucking stings… can’t even for go $99 like a normal price point) for the Ghostbuster single packs. NECA would handle animated Gargoyle wings exactly the same as the um… comic? Not realistic… concept promo art style? Current Gargoyle figures, you’ll have to buy Toon Elisa to get Toon Brooklyn wings all over again… Mondo will charge $178 for Goliath and you get the cape, the full spread, and A-form wings, AND the book and jalapeña!
then we can stop complaining about wings and complain about price!
Anyway, weird salt aside, Mondo make Toon Gargoyles, 1:6, 1:12 I don’t care just do it. NECA, Macbeth with Hudson’s cape and Coldstone, chop chop!

To each their own of course, I wouldn't mind either realistic or closer to the cartoon (though I prefer realistic) but what really bugs me is that the humans look cartoony while the Gargoyles don't. Elisa and Xanatos are very cartoony. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I was playing with my figures this weekend and it really stood out.
On a brighter note I just need Lexington and I will have all the main gang! I am excited to eventually get him.
Apologies to anyone who sees the bump and thinks something new has been announced (no news is good news?), just wanted to point out that BBTS has a handful of figures from this line on sale right now including my personal favorite, Hudson. If you had been waiting on a sale for some of these guys, here you go. Sadly, the steel clan isn't included which probably would have interested you army builders out there:

Those Big Bad sales prices ain’t bad, I picked up a second Thailog and canceled all my pre-orders for the “Strange Tales” waves except Moon Knight… I only know the character from the Capcom games so Blackheart’s head on Thailog will save me $100 and be “good enough” until they re-release the figure as a deluxe later (hopefully fixing his ankles)
… as far as a bump without news, I really hope either pre-orders soon (I check every day at 3:15 and it’s usually just something I bought at Target a month ago, never MacB…) or good real news at NYCC in like three weeks, but if not… can we all agree its unobjectionably the funniest thing NECA has ever done to call Gargoyles “our best selling line with no signs of stopping” on the checklist and then not even release all the characters on the checklist!!
Hah, did they really boast it was their best selling line? That would be funny, and sad, if the checklist wasn't even satisfied after such a claim. I think NYCC is sort of it for Gargoyles. If there is a presence, then crisis averted, if it's like San Diego, then I guess learn to love what you already have. I really want MacBeth and that Coldstone looked too good to not see the light of the day so it would be a shame if it ends where it is now. Plus, they're really leaving money on the table by not just doing a wing pack or something. It's not going to sell like a TMNT accessory pack, but basically anyone with a set of Gargoyles would want a wing pack, provided NECA isn't stupid and demands over 100 bucks for it (their direct-to-consumer pricing has gone from great value to terrible over the last year).
