Then if perpendicular has the hinge disc vertical, being perpendicular to a horizontal shelf, that is the problem I am having with weight-bearing, as there is very little friction on all of my tails, and they slide backwards until the figure has fallen, unless the tail is positioned against the wall, which I can't obviously do for all of them without having a very long, very shallow display.

Weird, I haven’t had that problem with my Goliath. Just angled the tail down and it holds just fine. Maybe your hinges are looser? Or are the figures posed angled back more, thereby putting more weight on the tail?
They thankfully have been fine without the wings or with the capes, but every single last one will fail with the weight of the outspread wings above them. *shrug*
While not posable in the slightest, my ideal "tail tripod" when ANY tailed figure has an issue using theirs to stand, has always been Kenner Power Wing Goliath's. I've even tried bending all my NECA Gargoyle tails into that shape when I've gotten them, because of how good it is (but then the hinge makes any bent shape moot).
Hudson, Broadway and Thailog have all been standing on a high wall mounted shelf since I got them (Goliath, Demona and Brooklyn now have their caped wings) during weeks of 90+ degree heat during the summer with no issue, and they've all been standing fine since they were placed on the shelves when they were placed there after opening. All with open wings angled up to give some room next to other figures.
Xanatos and Elisa have also been fine on the same shelves.
Granted, I've had very little trouble with NECA figures since I've been a customer, and it's been years. Maybe I'm not the norm in that regard.
Just need BBTS to get Xanatos and Lexington and I'm all set on this line...They've got 28 days before I need to ship my PoL.
Storm Collectibles stands are your friends for keeping Gargles standing.
the foot print is roughly the same as their default stance and the support is a sturdy straight arm, so you’re not using up extra space with a big circle stand or bending the arm down to reach the characters waist, the wings already take up so much space don’t give yourself a chore adding more awkward things sticking out of the figures!
the support arm also does a great job staying out of the way of wings and tails, and the large clamp can even hold Broaway no problem.
The only figures I don’t have on Storm Stands right now are Brooklyn, because he’s sitting on the McF Bat Skull motorcycle, and Elisa/Lex/Xanatos who because they’re smaller I’m using Jetec stands with one of the arm segments removed.
No slips, no falls, every character standing on their stupid digi-grade toses. Bases don’t get in the away from posing Elisa and Goliath or Angela and Broadway close together, Genesis Goliath wings spread, claws out, roaring on the edge of a tall shelf with no fear he’s going to fall…
good stuff!
The Goliath and Demona Vows two-pack isn't quite up for pre-order yet, but Best Buy has a placeholder page up for it with new pics.

2 pack looks amazing
great presentation
Hey guys, I have an odd question for anyone who collects both lines: does anyone know if there are Mythic Legions heads that would fit on the Gargoyles to make them more generic monsters/demons? I’m more concerned with scale and texture matching, but if any of them also happen to be a close color match, that would be dope.
"Best Selling"
"This line grows with no sign of stopping!"
Good. Now gimme a Griff, Una, and Leo already! I got the money NECA, you know you want it!
There’s a commercial calling Aquaman “the Most Mind-Blowing 3D Experience Since Avatar” you can say whatever you want these days no one gonna stop you!
Just let me buy the fucking “Vows” two pack already, let me buy Detective Broadway, and put Macbeth and Coldstone up for pre-order! (Part of me thinks maybe they’re being held for HaulAThon like Demona and Bronx two years ago… but then what’s the delay with Vows and Broadway?!)
I could wishlist tens of characters I *would* buy if given a chance, but let’s focus on matching Kenner’s character out put before we worry about which World Tour character should get a figure first (obviously Coyote, no not that one, because it doubles as ‘Miss Atomic Bomb’ Brendan Flowers)
I got Lexington in from BBTS over the weekend and managed to snap the damn bicep peg on his left arm due to his shoulder hinge being so god damn tight. I think this is actually the first time I've ever broken a NECA figure that wasn't a shelf dive. It's from BBTS so I'm not overly concerned as they'll make it right in some way, but the figure still isn't technically "in stock" there so they may not be able to replace it, which will suck. I've had that happen with a defective NECA before through BBTS and they just refunded it and told me to keep the figure, but maybe I'll get lucky and they have another they can ship.

That sucks. The same thing happened to my Lexington on the same bicep. Luckily, I found another one at Target and returned the broken one to Best Buy. I stuck the second Lexington in a hot water bath, and it did loosen things up, that shoulder is still worryingly tight.
@nilocomic I feel like most of the male gargoyles are pretty tight there due to how they cut the sculpt. They really tried their hardest to hide the seems, but it makes the joint hard to work with and limits how high they can raise their arms out to the side. With Lex, there's just less meat to work with and thus he's probably more susceptible to breakage as a result. Being able to get the past ones to "go" gave me a false sense of confidence with Lex.
EDIT: As I feared, BBTS having no additional stock means they can't replace my figure, but they refunded the purchase so I have nothing to complain about. Maybe I'll get lucky and score one at Target now where it's a few bucks cheaper.
