The 2.5" kids are too small for the 5" adults. Since the 5" scale kids are too big, it can become more of a pick your poison kind of deal. What scale perfectly well though are the 5" adults with the ReAction kids, which unfortunately wasn't much. Hugo nexts to the Jakks Homer looks ideal to me.

@wickerbasket I hadn't seen those unmade Playmates lineups before! Wave 17 actually has a few alternate looks I could see showing up here. Bigfoot Homer, Ninja Bart, and Flying Hellfish Abe are all pretty toyetic. Honestly I could have seen Super7 approaching all of them with their specific-episode focus.

Bigfoot Homer seems particularly viable for one of the deluxe figures with bases here, although I think King Kong Homer would be the more likely one to show up.

Thanks for the comparisons, guys. Still hoping someday we get a real on point collector grade line from someone like NECA, but for now I guess my approach with these are "toys will be toys", and to see them as a fun vintage-esque line. Been working alright so far. The price range helps.Β

Been starting to find more and more of Wave 3 (big and small) around me. Macy's has gotten in the new wave of larger figures- quite a lot too, as well as the Krusty Burger playset. None of the newer smaller figures, though; they did, however just put a bunch more of the family pack out. I hope they aren't unable to move them and give up on the line. I did find some of wave 3 of the smaller figures at one of my Targets- grabbed Milhouse and Grandpa; no sign of Ralph or Comic Book Guy unfortunately. The other Targets just started putting out a restock of wave 2, so not sure how long it'll take to trickle out.

Both my Five Belows just put out a bunch of wave 2, so if you're on the lookout for any Krusty, Bob, Itchy, or Scratchy and have one near you, give it a try!

Milhouse and Grandpa are nice. I like that Milhouse can hold the Squishee, but he does topple over depending on how you have it positioned. Grandpa being able to recreate the "old man yells at cloud" paper makes me quite happy. I do wish the smaller figures would start coming with a stand. It would really help in the case of the kids and Marge.

I need to check a Five Below. Scratchy has become my white whale as I have yet to find one. Though honestly, I've seen very little of wave 2. I was even in Universal Studios last weekend and was hoping that maybe I'd find Scratchy there but no luck.

@misfit Let me know if you still can't find him; I can run back up to mine to see if they it for you. I will say, they had 4 whole pegs worth, and for every 5 or 6 of the humans, they had maybe 1 or 2 Itchy and Scratchy. It seems like the case had just been put out too, so maybe they're shortpacked.

@joshsquash729 appreciate it. I'll poke around this weekend to see if I can come up with anything. I was able to find all of Wave One eventually, but Wave Two seems to be slow. If not for ordering online, I don't know if I'd have any save for Lisa at this point. Maybe it's also a regional thing? The northeast sometimes has to wait last to eat.

I'm not getting most of this line, but I did see a 5" Krusty at a local Target this week and nabbed him.

Yeah, I was confronted with how far I want to go with this line a few days ago when I found Marge (went right in the cart) and Lenny and Baseball Homer from the latest wave at Target. I stood there for a few minutes pondering Lenny and BB Homer. Do I really need all the side characters? Do I need all the variant family members?

I ended up leaving Lenny and grabbing Homer β€” because he's Homer. (For the record, Milhouse was already gone but he's the one I want most from the wave.)

I really don't think I want to go here. (But looking at the photo, there's so many characters I would grab. Thank god they're only $13 β€” for now, anyway.)

@grumpymattΒ

I did end up going there. here are some photos of what was once my collection.

possibly an unorthodox opinion but I never minded the lack of articulation with those figures, maybe because the sheer number of figures and playsets made for a decent enough set-up in my opinion. I'm not all that in love with some of the look of the joints on the Jakks stuff but that might be the necessary evil if you want actual 'action' in your action figures of cartoon characters.

also I've probably said this before but I'd be surprised if Jakks produced even half as many unique figures as Playmates did. it's just a whole different market for figures than those days.

Five Below was a bust for me. Oh, they had plenty of Simpsons, but Itchy and Scratchy were the only ones missing. They must be getting short-packed, and since they fit really well into the 5" scale, that just makes them all the more desirable. I feel super lucky to have found Itchy at Target when the line first dropped.

I've been on the lookout for Itchy and Scratchy, frustrating that they aren't available online as well.
