I’ve bought Playmobil sets occasionally over the years and they have always been pretty cool but about a year or so ago I got the Back to the Future DeLorean set. It’s really fun and they have just about all the characters except George and Lorraine. I really hope they get those characters out somehow. Yesterday I got the Magnum PI Ferrari set and I really think I caught the bug to really start getting these. I have always wanted that car and those characters. I hope TC’s Island Hoppers Helicopter is in the plans!

Looking at other sets that are available Knight Rider, Star Trek and the A-Team has really got me thinking of other properties they can maybe do products for. I would really love to see Smokey and the Bandit. What would you all like to see?

Smokey and the Bandit is a good idea.  Would love a 2pk of CHiPS with Ponch and John on their bikes.

I have the Scooby Doo van, the A-Team, and James Bon Aston Martin.  Long waffled on Knight Rider.  Once Magnum drops, I'll pick that one up too.

About a dozen years back, I was getting some Playmobil stuff.  Particularly knights and cowboys.  Only real line which was covering those themes.  Now, there are a few fantasy/knight options.   I do regret not buying a castle for my knights and randomly check ebay to tempt myself.

Yeah Black Friday 2022 is where it started for me.  And up until the second half of 2023 I was pretty good about not getting sucked in, but then the second half of 2023 totally drew me in due to sales.  Now I'm in way deeper than I ever thought I would be at this time.

It started thanks to Walmart Canada having a Black Friday sale in 2022 with $35 for the Ecto-1 and DeLorean.  Then around Christmas time TRU Canada had the Firehouse (Ghostbusters) on sale for $55 down from around $100.  So of course I thought what the hell since I already had the Ecto-1.

From there I was good until the sales started popping up at different places.  The biggest being Walmart.ca for some reason had Porsche Mission E and A-Team van on sale for $19 each!!!!!   Then I found Stay Puft on sale for $17 on Amazon.ca.  Next I had a gift card for Amazon and it completely paid for a discounted KITT from Knight Rider ($70 after tax).  Then TRU started having big clearance sales, including a BOGO (Free) so I snagged the yellow/green 911 Porsche Carrera and Mercedes Benz 300SL for just over $60 combined.

I should have bit the bullet on James Bond's Aston Martin when it was on sale for $60 but I was being cheap, and didn't have a gift card to knock down the price so I am still waiting. Same with Magnum's Ferrari.  I skipped on the Mystery Machine because it really wasn't the design I wanted.  I wanted the classic cartoon version, not the newer version they released.  I'm also eyeing some of the classic Volkswagen stuff and maybe the Mini Cooper, but again I want them to drop down in price to a level I feel comfortable paying.

So yeah I got sucked in and now I am always on the look out for good pricing on stuff I want to add to the collection.

As for what I want, I am not sure off the top of my head, but the suggestions so far sound perfect to me.  Maybe a National Lampoon's Griswold's Station Wagon??

I was thinking about National Lampoons Griswold’s with the Station Wagon and a Wally World Sign with Park Backdrop and the Moose Out Front! I would buy Dukes of Hazard in a heartbeat but unfortunately that would probably be too controversial. I would also love to see and Enterprise D similar to TOS Enterprise Playmobil made and a TOS Shuttle Craft. I would not mind seeing the boat from Jaws as a set. Maybe an E.T. set or Close Encounters of the Third Kind or both. Men in Black would be a whole lot of fun!

I have some of the Asterix sets, because it’s Asterix.

Star Trek: The Next Generation Enterprise D is a good suggestion.   With obviously the crew.  Even a 4pk of crew members, ala how they did the original series.   I've seen the Enterprise come down to $250 which was really tempting, but I got the Mega Bloks/Construx Enterprise a few years back and didn't want to drop that much again on a similar size Enterprise.  The Klingon Bird of Prey is tempting but waiting on a significant price drop.   I think it was Black Friday 2022 and Playmobil had a 30% off sale, which also counted for Star Trek (licensed brands are usually exempt from their sales).  I passed on the Bird of Prey, and it's now disappeared from their site.  D'oh.

Maybe due to this thread coming around, I'll take some pics of my knights and Old West sets.  I'll have to dig them out of storage, but it could be a fun project.  The Old West stuff is great.  I bought a water tower, windmill, a building (or two), a stagecoach, and a couple dozen figures.   All really cool.   I do wish their knight line would go back to more classic looking knights instead of the in-house brand Novelmore which is more fantasy and less historic.

I have a few Romans as well, but I haven't gone deep with them.

The odd thing about the Ghostbusters line is there isn't a non-slimed/marshmellowed Peter Venkman.  I think they're all covered in some kind of battle-damaged deco.

I have the Playmobil Old West Saloon. I love that the scale is kinda usable with Chicken Fried Toy’s Dime Novel figures. They really do some incredible play-sets and toys. I was watching a Retro Blasting video on YouTube a few nights ago discussing how fans are wanting Playmobil to update their figures but that we should instead hold other manufacturers to a higher standard in what they offer to be compatible with their own products and I couldn’t help but agree. Playmobil’s figures are perfect for the stuff they are made to interact with. Every other company needs to take note!

@ashtalon I would love to see more Star Trek ships, but I am pretty good on that front, and the Enterprise they did release is prohibitively expensive.  I could get the new Playmates version, or even the old one, for a lot less.

I would prefer Playmobil stick with their current sweet spot of realistic cars and municipal vehicles.  Along with under exposed (for the most part) licences.  I also would mind "baby" from Supernatural, Herbie The Love Bug (since they already did a Bug) and maybe some of the 60s show vehicles (Monkee Mobile, Munster's Koach, etc.

@canprime Well sure, you could get smaller Star Trek ships from a number of lines.  The Playmobil ones are the only ones to allow for interaction with figures, though.  They are expensive and huge though, so I haven't invested in one yet though.

@ashtalon Oh I know.  I have an almost complete collection of the Eaglemoss Star Trek ships.  Along with a couple other ships from varying lines.  I even had the Inner Space ships for a while, but much like the Playmobil Enterprise it kind of feels weird having figures in a ship with the layout cramped in for a bridge/playset display.

I also was perusing the web and I didn't know they did a Klingon Bird of Prey as well??!!  It looks pretty good, but same issue with interaction versus the ship/scale.  Still Playmobil does a pretty damn good job overall so it is hard to not buy in (though the price does a pretty good job at stopping me HAHA).

I have a few more properties I would like to Playmobil make: Tron, Miami Vice's two "Ferraris" (the black one was not actually a Ferrari but a Corvette made to look like a Daytona Spyder the white was an official Testarossa), and Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Ferrari Spyder).

I think the deal with Playmobil in regards to Star Trek is it’s mainly just TOS Enterprise and TNG Enterprise that I really want. I don’t need to have every ship that’s ever been featured. Those two ships seem adequately representative of the Star Trek Legacy overall and for what you are getting they seem to be priced within the financially obtainable area. I’m not saying their Klingon Bird of Prey isn’t something I would not want (or any other ships) but the two Enterprises would satisfy the collector in me.
