If you like horror/monster movies, you should see The Thing.  If you don't, well whatever!

I know no one agreed with me when I brought this up a couple years back, but as fancy as NECA likes to make their packaging, I don't think they're doing themselves any favors with the big box crowd. They're not conducive to the sorts of impulse buys that supposedly drive sales at these kinds of retailers.  Do they even know you can open the front flap to see what's inside?  Seems like there's a better way to sell product to someone who's not actively looking for that particular item.

Also, that Dog Thing has a lot more articulation than I was expecting.  And the tentacles are pretty annoying both to attach and to keep attached when you're trying to attach the rest of them!

I want just the dog from the set, so I'm not paying full price for it.

I can't even imagine a geek not having seen The Thing.   Seems like a geek card should be revoked.

The gun's magnets don't hold quite as well, but I don't mind having him hold in.

Oh my God, I didn't even realize the gun had a magnet in it. I just tried it and sure enough...That's so awesome.

@ashtalon eh, go ahead. I honestly couldn't care less about the horror genre, in general. It's never been my...thing.

Finally saw the Thing at Target today.  Decided to cave since it'll probably dry up and not see a huge production run.  Looks cool.  I have arthritis and neuropathy in my hands so putting it together was a chore.  Used the hairdryer a lot to insert the ball sockets joints and free up the hinges on them.  Dropped an alternate tongue on the floor and drove myself crazy trying to find it.  In the end I basically said "Yeah, F you too!" and put it away in a spare room.  I may box it up until I know what I'm going to do with it since the tentacles pop off on mine the second you look at it funny.

Grabbed the movie digitally on a Halloween sale last month for $5 for the 4K version.  Popped a pain pill and am going to watch it now to make me feel my $65 purchase was valid!  Still can't convince myself to grab the MacReady mark 3 though.  Just seems like a Malibu Stacey accessory set with the same figure I've bough twice already.  FOMO usually wins anyway so I'm sure I'll end up with it at some point.

Is it me or does Entertainment Earth take an eternity to get NECA stuff in stock? I have the D&D Strongheart and Zarak, and the Prey Feral Predator preordered, and there's been zero movement. And I ordered them as soon as the preorders opened. Has anyone had the same experience? I'm concerned they're going to cancel the orders.

Yes, and I actually got a $10 promo credit a few weeks back in an email apologizing for how long they were taking to get orders out the door of late.

They charged me for a TF and then a month later still hadn't shipped it.  They finally offered to cancel it and refund the money but they are saying it's "growing pains" for a warehouse expansion they are in the middle of.  Not happy with how things were handled so I cancelled all my pre-orders and switched over to BBTS for a while.  I only ever used EE because they are a few hours away from me and orders tended to arrive faster than BBTS.

I cancelled my EE order for the Dungeons and Dragons figures that came out over a month ago because they're available on Amazon with Prime free shipping. So rather than get them "someday," I'll have them tomorrow.

The only other pre-order I have with them is the Feral Predator, but he's been out for a while too.

I stopped ordering from EE for that exact reason. Things were just taking way too long to come in stock from them, to the point that I'd seen them everywhere else online and in person. That, in addition to their higher shipping fees than other places, I just ended up canceling too many orders. I even decided to splurge a while back and order a bunch of "restocking soon" Hiya Toys Alien vs Predator line, which I've wanted for ages. The order sat in limbo for ages- maybe 6 or 7 months, and then they canceled it due to not getting the stock. I figured it was fair, not their fault, and they took the listings down, but then I went to check the site a few weeks later and the entire wave was back up, with the "restocking soon" label slapped on again. I'm not saying they're doing anything shady- I've had nothing but good luck with most of the times I've ordered from them, but it started becoming more hassle than it was worth.

Just grabbed the Number of the Beast from Meijer while they had their Santa Bucks promotion--and their in-store price was a couple bucks cheaper than anywhere else in-store or online so that was nice.

I was shocked there is quite a bit more articulation than I was expecting in both "the beast" and Eddie.  If Ed just had knee and hip articulation it would be ta near-perfect figure.  But then it wouldn't be able to get into the actual album pose either, so what can you do?  The beast actually has nice rotating and flapping wings, rotating tail and the tiniest bit of head movement (basically either looking at little Ed or looking straight down.  From all the pics I thought this piece was going to be a solid cast.  Only complaint about him is too much black compared to the album artwork.

Only 3 albums left and we'll have all the classic era represented (not counting the singles).  I won't hold my breath for a Maiden Japan release, though, I think that's the last chance for me to get my holy grail of a Purgatory head--still one of the best images Riggs ever produced.  Still, I think the odds of getting that head are a lot better than the decapitated Di'anno head used on the Brazillian release of the EP.  😀

That "restocking soon" moniker drives me crazy.  Why not just say what it is, "preorder."  Nothing is planned on arriving soon.  They did the same thing with a Hiya BD Robocop 2 Robo figure I ordered earlier in the year.  I kind of have to question the whole "We're doing so great we need a new warehouse" narrative too.  I can't see many blowing a ton on collectible toys theses days with the economy we have (plus they're in CA so I know they are paying a ton of tribute money to Sacramento and local entities just to operate).  I think deeper issues are afoot with EE.  I've shopped with them for over 20-years and this is the worst they've done me.  I even told them I'd do a charge-back if I need to and they said they'd ban me as a customer if I do.  What do they expect?  You charged me a month ago and have no plan to ship anytime soon.  I even noticed the item in question that was slated for October release changed to November while this exchange was going on.  Very likely they never even had the item.  Either the charge was an accident or they figured it'd be in-stock pretty soon and I wouldn't notice the early charge.  Another trick of theirs that I hate too.  The month of arrival basically moves up every month on their website.  I'll order something because it's expected the same month, then it becomes the next month, the month after, etc.

To be fair, BBTS does the same thing with moving the release dates back a month whenever stuff doesn't come in stock at the time initially indicated.
